Fashion in streetz is a new section where readers will be able to put on display their street fashion findings. Since this is the first edition of this section the presented images, are those of the editor. We look forward to recieving your contributions in the future. What we would like to see are moments where fashionable attire is being used in the wild. We are trusting you our reader with the task of capturing these moments as best possible and presenting them to us. The best images will be choosen for publication and once a year we will pick a winner of “Fashion in Streetz - Best Picture of the Year”. This lucky subscriber will win $200.00 in cash. Now, lets get to business... It’s important to be able to document what clothing items are trending, and the only way to do this is hitting the streets. For this reason we recommend not stagging shoots for this segment, but actually going out and finding interesting subjects on the street. Understandably, we realize that many people have a fear of approching a total stranger, and snapping a photograph of them. We plan on showing you ways to overcome these fears. One of the biggest challanges will be overcoming the fear of how others react to your new vocation, but once you overcome that fear you will be extremely happy with the benefits. The street has an endless amount of possiblities, and they will now all be at your fingertips.

So what makes a good street fashion photographer? This is an good question. Being a good street fashion photographer takes the same skills needed to be a good street photographer in general. A good understanding of photographic composition. 5. Courage to approach a stranger and take their picture. 6. Patience

In this edition of the Siren we are proud to present a few rising stars in the local Orlando fashion industry. As more submissions come rolling in we will feature talent from a wide range of alternative locations. Please continue to send in your work, you never know when you will be contacted and featured. In this edition we managed to gather talent from different areas of the industry, ranging from models and make artists, to photographers and editors. We are interested in hearing the stories these individuals have to offer, as well as the advise ,and secrets they have used to get where they are. I for one am convinced that every human being has at least one talent. The misconception is that talents are something that one is born mastering, in my opinion this is not true. I believe that like all things in life a talent needs to be practiced, and developed before it can shine. Sometimes people need that little push to motivate them to move forward with the development of a specific talent, and that is the reason why this section was added to The Siren. We hope that, reading the stories of others will motivate you to go out, and master the talents you have. Keep in mind that this section is here to motivate you, not to tear you down. All submissions will be read and responded back to by yours truly. You may be wondering right about now what exactly are we expecting you to submit to us. What we want is very basic actually. In order to be considered for this segment of the magazine we simply need a link to your featured work, and a short essay on why you believe that we should feature you. Don’t forget you can also submit a link to a local artist whom you believe deserves to be featured here.

After we evaluate the submitted data we will proceed in contacting you, if you are to be featured we will interview you either in person, via phone, or chat. Your interview will usually consist of 20 questions, but it can vary. We also want to make you aware... Do not expect the same questions as previously featured interviews, the questions might be the same but they most likely will not.

Please make all submitions to: Higgsboy@me.com Subject: Rising Talents

Chelsey Nicole I recently had the oportunity to do a photoshoot with a model I am convinced is up and coming. Her name, Chelsey Nicole. Chelsey is originally from Maine, but currently is residing in Central Florida. She isn’t just a model, she is a motivated business person who knows how to run a business and takes her career very seriously.

Q. How would you describe yourself in 5 words? A. I would describe myself as persistent, artistic, controversial, un-intimidated, personable. Q. What is fashion for you in five words? A. To me fashion represents mood, inspiration, expression, freedom, unconfined. Q. So how long have you been modeling? A. I have been modeling for 3 1/2 years. Q. What has your best experience been since you began modeling? A. My best experience so far in the modeling industry was during my shoot with Model Placement Center. With 7 outfit changes, and new makeup to go with each, I had a very long day during that shoot. Q. What has been the worst expereince you have had since you started modeling? A. My worst experience was during an unpaid shoot I barely agreed to. I’d povided all my own outfits & makeup, showing up to find my ‘photographer’ without any equipment besides his two cameras, neither being professional. He offered no ideas, and the images were close to terrible. I never spoke of our shoot or gave credit. Q. What do you plan to be doing within the next 5 years? A. I plan on being part of the entertainment industry, any part of it. I enjoy all forms! Modeling is only part 1 for me! Q. So it seems you have a lot of goals within your career path, what are your main objectives in this industry? A. I would like to progress from model/actress to photographer, and set designer. Q. Do you recommend any photographers? A. I recommend dEmo Photography, Higgsboson Photography, Emerald Coast Glamour, CG. Q. What do your parents and family members think about your career choice?

A. At least one of my parents is with me at basically every shoot. They love how passionate I am to work, and re supportive of the entertainment industry career-wise. My mom has always been an aspiring singer/musician. Q. Are their any agencies you would like to work with? A. Yes, I would love to work with Wilheima, BMG. Q. I was also wondering are their any well known photographers you would like to shoot with? A. I would like to book shoots with Houser, Jay Philbrick, Chas Kostur, Maximilian Rivera Q. Any ad campaigns you would like to participate in from major players in the industry? A. I would like to colaborate with companies such as Juicy, XXI, Conrad Lamour, Maybelline, Versace, Bumble & Bumble, Louis Vitton, TIGI (again, more), and Victoria’s Secet. Q. Where can our readers view more of your work? A. They can view more of my work at: Facebook.com/ChelseyNicoleModel Facebook.com/ChelseyNicoleExclusives Twitter.com/ImChelseyNicole Southernteenmodels.com Marketing4model.com/Chelsey-Nicole/ Panicpop.com Higgsboson-photography.com Trueteenbabes.com Q. Q. Do you have any adive for people thinking about entering this industry? A. My advise is that they figure out how much you really want a career before pursuing it. This business is clogged by people who are on the fence of a full commitment. Q. Do you have any role models? A. Yes I do, Tyra Banks, Lady Gaga, Marilyn Munroe, Colette Stone, Brooke Shields, Mila Kunis are my biggest influences. Q. Any last words? A. <3

CHRISTELSIE JOHNSON Recently The Siren had the awesome oportunity to interview local Orlando MUA Christelsie Johnson. Christelsie in past days was able to blow the minds of spectators at Orlando’s RAWards recent event. Hundreds gathered dumbfounded while several models pranced down the catwalk portraying the artwork Christelsie’s imagination gave fruit to. “I’ve never seen such amazing work,” said one of the attendees. We agree with those present that indeed Christelsie’s work is grade “A” and we predict seeing it displayed in larger markets, muy pronto. - Cheers As usual The Siren proceeded to inquire the artist with regards to her work and what we were told blew our minds, enjoy. Q. How would you describe yourself in five words? A. I would describe myself as determined, creative, spiritual, passionate, and humble. Q. What is fashion for you? A. Fashion for me is the outward expression of yourself. Q. How long have you been a MUA for? A. I have been doing makeup full time for 6 years. I started in the theatre in college in the late 90’s. Q. What is the best experience you have had as an MUA? A. My best experience was doing makeup for a terminally ill lady for a military ball. It was probably going to be her last ball with her husband. She was such an inspiration. Q. What was the worst experience you have had so far? A. Up until now, the worst experience I have had while being an MUA was when one of my clients passed away. I provided services for women with cancer (lashes, brows, camouflage). She was so wonderful, I had no idea that she was that ill. Q. What are your current goals in the industry? A. I would like to continue to grow as an artist, reach people on a larger scale; i.e, magazines, television, film. Q. Do you have any recommended photographers or models? A. Locally I recommend Edz as a photographer. He is so creative! We work together very often. I’m always happy with the results. Anastasia Garcia is also amazing. She is the photographer that helped me to start a great portfolio. Her work is awesome! Models, Lori Livingston, Darryl Sposato, Jacqueline, Renee Milsap, Desiree, Krystal Vega, Cori Anne are all great. I’ve worked with a number of models. I don’t remember all of the names. These ladies have all produced great photographs for me. Some of my best makeup pics have been with ladies that may not be considered to have the model form but they work in front of the camera!

Q. What kind of support or feedback have you recieved from your family and friends? A. I think that my family was a little nervous about my chosen profession to put it nicely. I have a degree and they probably felt that I should have stayed on that path. It probably would have been a much easier road to take yet not as rewarding. I think now they have come around, and I do think that they are proud of me. They certainly know that I am determined, sincere and passionate about what I do and that has helped them to believe in me! Q. Are you interested in working with any agencies? A. I am opened to working with agencies. Of course the top agencies would be awesome. However, I won’t wait for an agency, or anyone else to help me achieve my goals. Q. Are their any campaigns you would like to work on? A. I really would like to work with campaigns that are helping to find a cure for cancer. I know most would think of fashion. I’d love doing that too, but a campaign to help people would be more rewarding. Q. Where can our readers find your work? A. Readers can see my work at www.christelsie.com on facebook at christelsie.com, twitter CATrueBeauty and instagram christelsie. Q. Where can you be booked? A. I can be contacted for bookings by emailing me @ cjohnson@christelsie.com or on my business line at 407374-9209. Q. Do you have any advice for people who would like to do what you do? A. I would tell other aspiring MUA’s to always continue to study their craft, be humble, and work for a purpose! Q. Any advice for aspiring models? A. I’m not a model, but I advice aspiring models to take care of their body, and skin. I also recommend they study their craft. When building your portfolio, work with someone that can give you quality pictures, and having a good personality is always helpful! These are the things I look for when booking somebody.

Q. Do you have any influences or role models? A. I dig Sam Fine, he has had longevity and good success. Pat McGrath and I would also say Romero Jennings. He is a senior artist for MAC. He took the time out to really talk to me about the industry, look at my portfolio and give me great advice and feedback. He has done major magazines, traveled the world, and it has not been a problem for him to take time out for me. You don’t find that often in this industry. Q. Any last words? A. I am really greatful to be blessed with these gifts and talents. I have to say that I find it most important to use my gifts, and talents to help others. That’s the most rewarding part of it all.

Q. So how do you define yourself in 5 words? A. I don’t think I can limit myself to just 5 words, I am uniquely over the top! Q. Carmine, can you describe what fashion is to you in five words? A. Fashion is the blending of a unique look, strong attitude and confidence of the model as she takes command of the viewer. Which will render you speechless and in awe wanting more. This is also what I try to do with my art. Q. So, how long have you been a photographer? A. I picked up a camera in my teens and a pentax K100 was my first camera I owned and loved to do sports. I’ve been taking images for over 20 years and made my switch to digital in the last 4 years. So you might say 4 years, Q. What has been the coolest experience you’ve had as a photographer? A. It was a windy day 4 years ago and I was assisting a great friend. GW Burns on a shoot. It was on a Yacht and I had to scale the side of the boat to get to the front with gear. I thought for sure I was going for a swim that day. The boat was rocking and I am practically on the edge holding lights on a quest for a great image and we got it! That day is when I knew I wanted to be a photographer. Doing whatever it took to get the image. Q. What has the been the worst experience you’ve had since you picked up a camera as a photographer? A. This is hard to answer as I have enjoyed every moment, every shot and every model. I have a had some shots better that others. Q. Where do you see yourself within the next 5 years? A. I really enjoy teaching and creating. I can see several books coming out on creative artistic photography and traveling promoting my work. Q. What goals have you made for yourself within the industry? A. My goals are to be one the most creative and unique photographers, blending nature, paints, makeup, accessories and some attitude. I also love it when my images make it on a Mothers refrigerator. That is the ultimate compliment to the creative team.

Q. Do you recommend any makeup artists or models to the readers? A. For MUA’s Danelle Wood from Jacksonville is my go to MUA. Her and I just click. When I first started down this creative road, it was Danelle that was able to see my visions and help bring them to life. Her and I grew together and perfected th Creative Series. For Models, I have 2 that come to mind, actually many more. Two have really helped me in the early days. Amelia Alderman and Lyla Hyatt. They both let my artistic flair blossom and see where it took us and were very supportive of new ideas and concepts. Q. So what are the opinions of your friends and family? A. They love it, they can’t believe it. How we come up with some of the ideas and concepts. Q. Are their any agencies you are hoping to work with? A. I am real simple and not too much hype or fanfare. When it comes to self promotion, agencies etc.. I haven’t perused or even thought of any agencies. With that said if they came knocking I would welcome it. Q. Do you have any models you would be interested in working with? A. I would love to work with Veronica Varekova Q. Interested in campaigning for any particular companies? A. This might sound funny, lots of my items come from craft stores, sewing stores and hardware stores.. I can see me doing an ad for Michaels or Joann Fabrics. Q. Where can our readers see your work? A. The best place is my workshop page, www.ShootTheLook.com and check out the gallery page Q. Where can models & agencies reach you for booking? A. They can reach me at www.ShootTheLook.com Model Mayem http://www.modelmayhem.com/1004359 FaceBook https://www.facebook.com/carmine.warren Q. Do you have any location you are dreaming of shooting at? A. Would love to shoot in Venice Italy.

RAW

ards

Wow, now this was something! If you didn’t go to RAWards Orlando you missed out bigtime. The event was amazing! Tons of people, art, and drinks. On a clear fall night in Downtown Orlando where else could you have been other than the Abby, if you are interested in the arts & fashion scene here in Orlando? I for one saw many a familiar face while snapping photographs of the present. Hopefully Orlando will be seeing more events such as this one, but all in all it was worth going to especially as press. Entrance for the general public had a cost of $20.00, that I would have been willing to pay anyway though. The Abby, venue where the event was held was at its seams, vivid with life and ready to burts. Live music pounded in the background giving the entire venue a pulse that would make even the most irksome individuals head move. Wide eyes observed the delicate body paint that adorned the bodies of several drop dead gourgous models. Everyone was livid, and having the time of their lifes. Once the crowd settled in the real fun began, between sips from a glass of wine, and voting on the different displays that were present. The lights on the main stage flared and brought the audience’s attention to the fashion show that was about to begin. Simply mind blowing is the only narrative that can describe what the eyes of the present were beholding. Model after model, gliding across the carpet, each a complete body of art.

Orlando

I have visited many a fashion show, and have left with bad memories of unorganized staff, and moments of boredom, this was “not” the case with this event. Simply attending left the crowd and myself estatic. Raw Artists is definately on the correct path with this event. Hopefully we will witness similar events down the line.
