ACADEMIC GAP YEAR / SEMESTER Lirom Global Education is proud to invite graduating high school seniors and rising freshmen (ages 17-19) to the 2015 Gap Year / Semester experience. Spend a semester or full year in Israel and earn college credits! This revolutionary Academic Gap Year program will let you explore Israel, make friends from Israel and all over the world and have a once in a lifetime experience! With three alternative starting dates, dozens of classes, two different tracks and so many exciting opportunities, we’re sure you will love the Lirom Global Education Academic Gap Year experience! Students can join the Academic Gap Year / Semester program in Fall 2015, Spring 2016 or Summer 2016 and select to participate in 1, 2 or all 3 semesters – all at affordable rates.
STUDENT LIFE: Language, Landmarks and Love of Israel! The Lirom Global Education Academic Gap Year / Semester program is designed to give students a taste of college in Israel – this means living in a dorm style apartment, taking classes on a real college campus, and exploring Israel like real Israelis – all with the safety net of a structured program! When not studying, students participate in weekly Tikkun Olam (community service) projects in which they get a chance to make a difference in the lives of others. Whether volunteering with the elderly, tutoring English language, working with refugees or promoting coexistence, Lirom Academic Gap Year participants have a weekly opportunity to give back to the community. Students will also participate in three hours of Hebrew classes a week in order to truly give them a taste of the country – how else can you learn about Israel if you can’t order humus from a restaurant? Lirom Academic Gap Year participants will also have the chance to join bi-monthly tours of Israel during which they will visit the beautiful sites of Jerusalem and the Western Wall, hike in the Golan Mountains, float in the Dead Sea, ride camels in the desert and more! Get to know Israel like a real Israeli!
TRACK 1: ACADEMICS: Earn college credits in your Gap Year! The Academics track is offered in cooperation with The College of Management, based in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area. Founded in 1978, The College of Management is the largest college in Israel with the biggest schools of Business Administration and Computer Sciences. Courses offered during the the Lirom Academic Gap program are taught at the college campus and you receive academic credits for courses taken during your stay in Israel. All students are required to take a minimum of 10 credits per semester. Pick any freshman-level course in the fields of: Business Administration, Behavioral Sciences or Computer Sciences. All classes are taught in the English language and lessons can be viewed online so you never miss a lecture and can hear it again at your leisure.
Revolutionary: Month-long study blocks instead of a 14-week semester! The College of Management uses a revolutionary study method, which has proven more effective and ‘learner-friendly’. Most courses are offered in short one-month study blocks and classes usually take place three days a week. Each study block consists of three weeks of classes and one week of exams. There’s a total of nine one-month study blocks offered during the year, so you choose which months to study and how many courses to take in each month. Depending on field of study and course availability, study either concentrated month-long courses or classic semester-length classes. Computer Sciences courses are only offered in the full semester format.
Gap Year Extension The Lirom Academic Gap Year program can be extended for another 1-3 years during which students may complete the necessary requirements to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Business (B.A.), Computer Sciences (B.Sc.) or Behavioral Sciences (B.A). Most of the B.A. degree programs take place in a manner similar to the Gap Year program with month-long study blocks offered nine months out of the year for most courses.

TRACK 2: LANGUAGE: Learn the language and live it! If you’re not yet sure what you want to study, or want to take some time before taking on an academic course-load, Lirom Global Education offers a Language Study track as part of its Gap Year experience. 12 hours a week will be dedicated to learning one of 2 languages: Hebrew or English. Students from non-English speaking countries can come to Israel for a Gap Year / Semester and raise the level of their spoken and written English up to academic level. Israel has a blossoming Anglo-speaking community where students can experience the language beyond the classroom. You can learn firsthand about the culture and nuances of the different English dialects.
