Contents. 1. Studio -
Notan/Personality as form. Shadow as form. Form follows function. Studio (design) principles. Studio models. Social research in design.
2. Studies - Elective reasearch. Chinese history, and product manufacturing. 3. Communications - Graphic panel. Digital 3D prototype. Computer rendering. Sketching notation/free.
Notan negative spaces.
Expressing personality through form.
Shadow as form. This project experimented with shadow as form and light manipulation to create individual forms.
Studio Principles. The breif for this project invoved investigating the concept of ‘form follows function’ and pushing the boundaries of semiotics. Engaging in design whilst attempting to refrain from functional thought. My final model incorporated design principles of play, stacking and differentiation by touch, in the form of a set of spice grinders. Endevouring to experiment with form to produce an inviting quizical product.
The form alludes to stacking with indents and surfaces which mirror and match/fit.
Each form has a slightly different feel and finish; one smooth, one sharp, suggesting different contents. The form may be used by anyone, and the division in each form invites a common twisting motion.
FORMFOLLO SFUNCTION
The form is playful and ambiguous, inviting touch and communal sociable use.

STACK - 2 HALVES MAKE A WHOLE
IN THE KITCHEN WE HALF EVERYTHING AND WE STACK EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING IS BIGGER AND BETTER WHEN IT’S STACKED/TALLER.
Studio Models. Set of grinders.
Social Research in Design. This project involved learning a methodology towards social research in the design context. Actively observing, participating and imersing oneself in several visually identifiable minority groups such as blindness, homelessness or Islam, to try and empathise and understand social issues faced. My particular personal focus involved the Muslim community of Melbourne.

Studies Elective: Great Civilizations - China. This subject involved researching manufacturing in China and Chinese inventions, documenting and accessesing evidence of China’s claim over the invention of the pottery wheel, a major peice of machinery which evolutionized the production of ceramics.
The Potters Wheel - Clay throwing wheel. EAST MEETS WEST 东部见面得西部
Michael Simcoe Director of Design at Holden since 2001, was recently promoted to GM Executive Director
Michael Simcoe
1983, became Senior Designer in 1985 and Chief Designer in 1987. From 1990 until 1992 he was US-based and will be remembered for the Buick Sceptre concept car. Simcoe and his team demonstrate they are well equipped to attitude seen in the stunning Commodore CoupĂŠ (Sydney Motor Show 1998).
Graphic Design Panel. This exercise involved reasearch and displayed early investigations with design primary principles such as colour, composition, scale etc.

This project focused on recreating objects using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Each object needed to be recreated as close to a photographic image as possible.

Tool Render.
3D Digital Prototype. This exercise involved 3D scanning equipment, and Rhino 3D programing for a digital rendering project.
180 degree flip screen lens.
Flip screen can capture shots in front or behind. Including operator. zoom and operation button easily accessible.
10 X optical zoom with flip sensor screen so image is always right way up.
Communication sketching.
Cycle OPX
image capture camera
These communication exercises focused on notation of instructions, and line width. Black and white specific, easily understandable, designing equipment for image capture in extreme sports.
BLOOD GLUCOSE MONITOR
1. Press power button for 3
seconds until blue light illuminates and screen displays welcome message.
3.
Remove slide from packt and place flat corner of slide against droplet of blood. Slide case covering insertion slot aside. Insert slide into bottom of machine. Orange light with clock symbol shows monitor is processing. If red light with cross lights up, slide needs to be removed.
2.
Hold machine over index finger and push down fast, using thumb to prick index finger. A small pin point will puncture index finger for blood extraction.
4.
To eject, slide thumb to push tab towards bottom of machine until slide ejects. MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION
