I raise the question, What If heritage protocols permitted alterations - where all moves are informed by ornament, preserving its essence through a new integration within modern occupancy. A mode that opens the home for the resident and activates densification across heritage suburbs.
I position the heritage home as a cabinet of curiosities, containing ornament to be rediscovered and re-arranged. This cabinet questions what can be unlocked by working through a fine grain lens on focused moments.
By designing at the 1:1 scale, I am directly enacting a preservation of the buildings through a tactile personal connection. Interrogating how each could fit into the resident’s routine as opposed to remaining at eye’s reach.
Through my curiosity, each ornament is treated as a generative tool to produce a kit of parts, able to be used in any heritage type.
