60 Second Interview with
George Watts
What do you think will be the hot trends for 2014? In terms of styling, the monochrome look will continue to grow in popularity during 2014, but we will start to move away from the whole summer fete thing - which has been huge over the last few years, as couples opt for more of a contemporary rustic twist on the vintage theme. Traditional / Modern / Vintage or Shabby Chic? Hollywood classic glamour all the way… more Taylor than Monroe. Do you have a favourite time of the year to hold a wedding? I love a winter warmer. For me, a candlelit space at this time of year is the ultimate in romance. What are the key colour trends coming through for 2014? Regal glamour not glitz is going to be super hot in 2014. Think petrol blue, teal, turquoise and royal blue. These colour-ways are going to rock the aisle next year, but think subtle splashes not full-on blocks of colour. What has been your favourite romantic wedding? Even now, David and Victoria Beckham’s big day stands out in my mind, primarily because they ripped up the rule book and told the world that you should make the day your own and not be afraid to go all out on a theme, whilst having some fun with it too! The fairytale thrones were a wonderful touch for me! What has been your most memorable ‘alternative’ or ‘fun’ wedding? Saying ‘I do’ surrounded by lions, tigers and an elephant was pretty amazing! What advice would you offer to brides about putting their ‘look’ together? I think its super romantic to start at the point where the whole thing began! The engagement ring usually reflects your own personal style and tastes – soak it up and get inspired. What ideas have you previously used for ‘something old something new something borrowed something blue’? Something old – A family heirloom in the bouquet Something new – The lingerie of course! Something borrowed – A vintage clutch bag Something blue – Any opportunity to use a blue ostrich feather and I am there – even the garter! Do you have any money saving tips for newly engaged couples? Always think what can we do ourselves or ask a friend or family member to help us with. Someone will know someone who does hair, bakes cakes or has a passion for photography. Spread the word that you are getting hitched post haste!

Jacqui, one of our directors was fortunate enough to get an invite to the wedding of Annabel and Hamish on the 21st September. When she arrived at the Empire in Leicester she was greeted with a glass of champagne and was astonished by the array of colours. Jacqui said “ I have never seen so many beautiful saris! The women looked amazing, and the Eastern décor was truly outstanding. The Empire is such a grand venue”. Annabel was dressed in a traditional Western dress - she looked stunning, and Hamish looked very handsome too. The mixture of East meets West was perfect, everything just fitted in together; from chocolate the fountains to the amazing Eastern cuisine . The DJ’s offered an range of music to suit everyone, and the guests danced the night away. It was a truly wonderful and memorable experience.

reviews For Carl & Emma ... Congratulations from Miss to Mrs I know everyone says this but our day really was perfect! We spent the whole day together, we stayed together at home and got ready together with all our children, then travelled to the Registery Office together in our beautiful vintage Austin car. It was amazing to see all our loved ones enjoying each other’s company and making new friends. We shared some very special moments, which we will cherish forever. Everything was absolutely perfect. Our colour scheme, storm grey and bright yellow was a real hit. The grey and silver represented the storms we have endured to be together, and the yellow, the sunshine we share when we’re together. The ‘pop’ of brightness in our theme really made a bold statement, which attracted a lot of comments. Our cake was amazing, made by a lady called Kath Turner, who is a family friend. She really pulled out all the stops to make our cake in a very short time, due to our original cake lady having an accident. It tasted delicious, and because our top tier is polystyrene, we are able to keep it forever! My mum made the pretty sugar flowers on the birdcage, which top the cake, too. All the other decorations were either made by me or sprayed by me, to match our colours.
Our director Katherine was invited to enjoy and review a night of comedy at The Tonic comedy club, so she took a group of her friends with her. The Tonic is central to Leicester town, which makes it easy to find, and accessible by public transport. This makes it ideal for all types parties, giving you the freedom to drink without the issue of worrying who has to drive home. After ordering quality fast food and jugs of beer, they all settled in to enjoy the rest of the night. With a variety of acts they laughed the night away in the company of old and new friends - we all know what they say about laughter don’t we! We have to say that The Tonic definitely delivered on what they promised would be a good night for all, with comedy to suit everyone... Yes, laughter is the best medicine… So go see the doctor, and get some laughter tonic from The Tonic. Miss to Mrs Mag give their approval.

Arrive in style Your big day is looming, the day you have dreamt of since you were a little girl. Time to slip into your floaty white dress and glide down the aisle as a vision of loveliness. One question comes to mind: How do you make your ‘Grand Entrance’ so memorable it’s embedded in your guests memories for all eternity? Well there are several conventional and also some less conventional ways to get you to the altar or venue of choice. For some, the traditional ‘Wedding Car,’ just doesn’t hit the right spot - it’s not quite memorable enough. Some fancy a fairytale Cinderella style horse-drawn carriage, embellished with jewels and all sorts of glitz, while others prefer a slow and graceful Limo ride. However the growing trend seems to be to wow, shock, amaze or at very least, surprise your wedding party. Why not dazzle your guests by arriving in a helicopter? Or rock up in a hefty, but very shiny, Hummer. Maybe you’d prefer to breeze in on a polished up Harley (beware wind and coiffures ladies!). A VW Camper seems to be a popular choice
for a less formal and more Retro entrance, or you could simply walk barefoot and hand in hand with your partner - it’s as stylish as any other method. For an utterly bonkers but fun entrance you can hire a Del Boy style, three wheeler Trotters Van, or perhaps hire a tandem bike to symbolise two becoming one - cliché but cute! Or plod your way in on an elaborately decorated Indian Elephant, plumage and all! The choices are endless. The one big rule is this; make sure your choice is absolutely right for you, remember the start to a perfect day is your arrival. Make yours count!

Lavish Wedding & Chair Cover Stylist I’m Zorina, I’ve been working in floristry for 24 years, since I was 15. Generations of my family have been florists, so it was second nature for me to follow them. I’m a creative person with a passion for what I do, and I believe this is apparent in my work. In 2009 I set up my own floristry business, Lavish. My aim was to offer a completely different experience for brides, giving them the space and time they need to talk over ideas and decide on what they want. I love the outdoors, and was thrilled when I found the perfect studio for Lavish, set in a converted barn, and surrounded by peaceful scenery and wildlife. I believe you need to get to know your florist, so I always invite my brides to come and sit by the log burner and tell me all their plans over a cup of tea. I’m able to show them samples of my work, and photographs of previous commissions without any fear of interruption, as it’s always by appointment only. Lavish can offer a complete package; fresh and silk flower bouquets and table decorations, post boxes, mirrors, easels for table plans, and last year I decided to add in chair covers. The chair covers have proved very popular, they are stunning, gathered down the back and around the sides and are a must for brides wanting a spectacular look. 2013 has been a great year so far, and I’m really looking forward to 2014 being even more exciting.
