TRENDS AND INSPIRATION What do you think will be the hot trends for 2014? In terms of styling, the monochrome look will continue to grow in popularity during 2014, but we will start to move away from the whole summer fete thing - which has been huge over the last few years, as couples opt for more of a contemporary rustic twist on the vintage theme. Traditional / Modern / Vintage or Shabby Chic? Hollywood classic glamour all the way… more Taylor than Monroe. Do you have a favourite time of the year to hold a wedding? I love a winter warmer. For me, a candlelit space at this time of year is the ultimate in romance. What are the key colour trends coming through for 2014? Regal glamour not glitz is going to be super hot in 2014. Think petrol blue, teal, turquoise and Royal blue. These colour-ways are going to rock the aisle next year, but think subtle splashes not full-on blocks of colour. What has been your favourite romantic wedding? Even now, David and Victoria Beckham’s big day stands out in my mind, primarily because they ripped up the rule book and told the World that you should make the day your own and not be afraid to go all out on a theme; whilst having some fun with it too! The fairytale thrones were a wonderful touch for me! What has been your most memorable ‘alternative’ or ‘fun’ wedding? Saying ‘I do’ surrounded by lions, tigers and an elephant was pretty amazing! What advice would you offer to brides about putting their ‘look’ together? I think its super romantic to start at the point where the whole thing began! The engagement ring usually reflects your own personal style and tastes – soak it up and get inspired. What ideas have you previously used for ‘something old something new something borrowed something blue’? Something old – A family heirloom in the bouquet Something new – The lingerie of course! Something borrowed – A vintage clutch bag Something blue – Any opportunity to use a blue ostrich feather and I am there – even the garter!

Once Upon A Time

A great way to incorporate the theme of fantasy into your wedding is by the little things such as invitations - a simple but effective touch to bring your whimsical wedding to life. The invites could have an icy blue or frosty white background coupled with lace detailing to add a touch of magic and class to your day. Name cards on the table could also be customised perhaps to mirror the design on the invitation or in any magical way you choose. Another idea is to decorate the menus or your thank you cards - a fantastical design could frame the menu for example (you get the idea!). There are endless ways to incorporate such a theme- the number of ideas could go on and on! Companies offer an amazing range of ideas for wedding stationary and work closely with you to ensure perfection on your day so as long as the designs are kept classy yet magical - you really cannot go wrong.

Mirroron TheMi r ror Wall With Christmas around the corner and your wedding in the offing, what better excuse do you need to spruce up your makeup bag? We all know make-up can be a girl’s best friend, and this season’s beautiful trends can put the finishing touch to your big day. While the ‘no-makeup’ look remains the most popular, the festive season is presenting brides with many different ways to highlight their natural beauty, from the simple to the more dramatic. Why not use a subtle glitterbased eye shadow together with fluttery lashes? This creates a magical look and is sure to make you feel like a princess. As well as gorgeous eyes, luscious lips are a must. The trend for winter 2013 is berry coloured lips with a hint of gloss - a stunning look if you have an autumnal theme to your wedding. If you are having your wedding make-up done by a professional make-up artist, ask them to re-create these trends or experiment with wintery colours. If you are going to do your own makeup, keep the look timeless or incorporate the new ideas into the rest of your make-up; simple skin and cheeks will accentuate beautifully the feature you have chosen to highlight.

this theme in mind, there are many ways to incorporate a fantasy element into the decor. Candles are a great addition, whether they highlight the centre of the dining table or if they are just flickering in the background during the ceremony. The candle holders could be frosty silver edged in diamonds, the glass could be crackled to allow the candle light to glow through or the candles could be nestled amongst berries, adding romance and a touch of magic. Napkin rings could also be incorporated which match the chosen candle holders or they could have a differing design to tie in with the fairytale theme. Another popular addition is snow-white flowers or snow covered branches. These add a touch of drama yet hint at Christmassy without being overpowering. Twinkle lights could also be intertwined in and around your flower display. Even a sparkling tiara could be worn by the bride

Brought to you by Em Arts & Vintage Photography, Miss to Mrs Magazine and the Ramada Hotel Solihull Birmingham

“We take our responsibilities to the brides who read Miss to Mrs Magazine very seriously - we have lots of suppliers advertising with us, and one of the nicest things we get to do is work personally with some of these fantastic businesses on photoshoots and other networking promotions. Photoshoots like this enable us to see what each of the companies can do, and this in turn allows us to be fully confident that when we endorse a service or supplier, we know they’re really worth it. These are pictures from our shoot at the Ramada Birmingham Solihull in November...” We would therefore like to thank you the following businesses for their support on the day. Enchanted Feast

When it comes to Christmas and weddings, they have one major thing in common - superb food! Choosing what to feed your guests can be a challenge, but why not think outside the box and go for something a little different? Winter weddings have huge potential for a fresh look at comforting food favourites, and catering companies are taking advantage of the season by offering exciting menus. How could your guests resist hors d’oeuvres of mini childhood favourites, or little sweet treats of candied fruit and tiny sponge puddings? Other winter touches you can add are warm soups made of pumpkin or squash, servings of spiced wine or hot chocolate (alcoholic or not – it’s your choice!), and decorative embellishments such as edible sugar sculptures dusted in glitter or coconut to look like snow. You could also ask your caterer to add Christmas flavours into your meal, for example in your chosen dessert, opt for a hint of cinnamon or nutmeg and a scattering of berries on the plate to add to the wintery feel. Comfort is paramount when it comes to planning a winter wedding menu; so as long as the portion sizes are small enough to ensure your guests are still able to hit the dance-floor, anything goes. Finally, add interactive aspects like fondue stations to your menu. These not only look fabulous, but will provide your guests with extra entertainment and get them in the wedding and festive spirit! All of these ideas can tie in with the Christmassy theme, and add a fairytale element to the day - a perfect combination in my opinion. Your Carriage awaits Your big day is looming, the day you have dreamt of since you were a little girl. Time to slip into your floaty white dress and glide down the aisle as a vision of loveliness. One question comes to mind: How do you make your ‘Grand Entrance’ so memorable it’s embedded in your guests memories for all eternity? Well there are several conventional and also some less conventional ways to get you to the altar or venue of choice. For some, the traditional ‘Wedding Car,’ just doesn’t hit the right spot - it’s not quite memorable enough. Some fancy a fairytale Cinderella style horse-drawn carriage, embellished with jewels and all sorts of glitz, while others prefer a slow and graceful Limo ride. However the growing trend seems to be to wow, shock, amaze or at very least, surprise your wedding party. Why not dazzle your guests by arriving in a helicopter? Or rock up in a hefty, but very shiny, Hummer. Maybe you’d prefer to breeze in on a polished up Harley (beware wind and coiffures ladies!). A VW Camper seems to be a popular choice for a less formal and more Retro entrance, or you could simply walk barefoot and hand in hand with your partner - it’s as stylish as any other method. For an utterly bonkers but fun entrance you can hire a Del Boy style, three wheeler Trotters Van, or perhaps hire a tandem bike to symbolise two becoming one - cliché but cute! Or plod your way in on an elaborately decorated Indian Elephant, plumage and all! The choices are endless. The one big rule is this; make sure your choice is absolutely right for you, remember the start to a perfect day is your arrival. Make yours count!
