“The Lion King” fans can feel the love watching the musical all of the animal costumes for the show. The costumes might have been the most impressive part of the show, second only to the actors themselves. The costumes were incredibly elaborate and intricate, some animals -- like an elephant -- took four people to control. Some animals were portrayed by actors wearing detailed costumes and makeup, and others were by giant puppets controlled by actors disguised behind or within the animal. There were giraffes that had to be 20 feet tall and birds that were attached to poles by fishing line that soared into the audience. head. However, there were a few scenes that were added which were not in the movie, and that kind of threw me off. I wasn’t a big fan of the extra scenes, like when Timon was almost washed away by a waterfall in the second act. I didn’t like this much because it didn’t stick to the original movie, and it didn’t add anything to the plot, so
to me it was unnecessary. Overall, this musical was fantastic, and I would definitely recommend it. Between all the sets, costumes and stage effects, this musical really came alive. Contact Kirsten at kgar3084@csd99.org
