‘Jungle Book’ movie swings into the hearts of audiences By Grace Chaplin, Opinions Editor
istic animals. The visual effects made the colors pop out of the screen and made the characters come to life. There was something so fascinating about a real boy prancing amoung all of the computer-generated animals that were stunningly realistic. The tiger really drew me in.
Forget about your worries -- the Jungle Book doesn’t disappoint. “The Jungle Book” was one of my favorite Disney classics as a child, and the new version that was just released on April 16 was possibly the best rendition of an original Disney film yet. The film was directed by Jon Favreau, and the cast and voices ranged from Neel Sethi to Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray. Sitting in the theatre, I had rather low expectations; I’m so used to being let down by remakes of Disney classics like “Cinderella”. But, as soon as the movie started, I knew this one would be different. I was so pleased when the movie didn’t throw away the original storyline of “The Jungle Book”. The characters stayed true to themselves and the fun, upbeat and modernized soundtrack added a light-hearted Graphic by Gabrielle Bartkeviciute feel to the film. For me, the visual effects were what He was extremely strong and powerful really made the movie something spe,and overall, all of the animals made cial. I felt like I was in an actual jungle the movie very engaging. surrounded by majestic flora and realI caught myself smiling a few times
while I was sitting in the theatre, bobbing my head to the familiar songs, reliving my childhood. According to IMBD the original “Jungle Book” was rated an average of 7/10 while the 2016 version has been rated an average of 8/10, and I completely agree that the 2016 “Jungle Book” was even more enchanting and captivating than the original. It’s rare that you watch a remake of a classic movie and you’re shocked that it’s even better than Hollywood Boulevar d sells t icket s r aging f r om $6- 15. Photo by Grace Chaplin the original. ‘Prison Break’ sets the bar high for their fifth season By Michaela Burton, Staff Reporter “Prison Break” is making an epic comeback by returning for a fifth season as one of the most thrilling shows on TV. For those who watched this show when it first premiered in 2005, they can finally get some ansers to the questions that were left in what viewers thought was the last episode, which
that Lincoln is actually framed for the murder by a group of people called “The Company,” who did everything in their power to make sure that nobody ever found out all their dirty secrets. As a big fan of this show, I’m overjoyed to finally get some closure that I felt was missing from the last episode of the fourth season. With a series so action-packed and full of unpredictable twists and
ing, so I googled what other acting jobs they had been in together. When I came across “Prison Break” and saw that they weren’t just partners in crime but brothers on the run for their lives, you can bet that I immediately started watching it. I thought watching just one episode would be enough to end the craze, but I was sucked in fast, and before I knew it, I had watched 10 episodes of the show.
aired in 2009. Dominic Purcell returns to the show as Lincoln Burrows, who breaks out of Fox River Prison in the first season with the help of his brother Michael Scofield played by Wentworth Miller. Burrows is charged and arrested for allegedly killing the vice president’s brother. Later on in the series, you find out
turns, I was heartbroken when the show came to an end. Now I will admit, I didn’t know this show existed up until this year. Actually, I never would’ve stumbled upon it if I hadn’t watched “The Flash,” in which Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell are best friends and partners in crime. I found their relationship entertain-
I wish I could say that eventually the obsession went away, but that would be a lie. I continued to binge watch the next three seasons and shed real tears when I was finished. The fact that it’s coming back is like a dream come true. The show is amazing, and I wish it had taken me longer than a month to finish it. Four seasons of
a show like that is definitely too short. The show made me learn to love and hate different characters, try to think like the brilliant Michael Scofield on how the characters will get out of whatever dangerous situation they got themselves into and finally, made me sit on the edge of my seat because every episode ends in a nail-biting cliff-hanger leaving me wanting more.
