Chicago’s civil services shows are a smash-hit By Michaela Burton, Social Media Director

I’d never seen before called “Chicago Fire.” I decided to sit down and watch it with her, expecting it to be some lame mom show. I was wrong; the show was anything but boring. Everything about it was amazing from the cast to the plot lines. From then on, every Tuesday

Chicago is one of the best places in the world to live. People travel from all over the world just to take a picture in front of a giant bean sculpture that lies in the heart of the city. But now, there’s even more reason to love our beautiful city. Director Dick Wolf has created three of the best shows on TV today and they all take place in Chicago. A full set of TV shows based on different perspectives of our everyday heros. The firefighters of “Chicago Fire,” the cops in “Chicago P.D,” and the doctors in the Graphics by Michaela Burton newest addition to the night I was sitting on the outstandingly entertaining trio, “Chicouch right next to my mom watching cago Med.” the newest episode and anticipating Last year, I didn’t really have a fawhat would happen next. vorite TV show until I walked into my When I found out that they were living room one night to see my mom’s bringing in a new squad to the Chieyes glued to the screen on a show cago team I was bursting with joy. only would I watch “Chicago Fire” at seven o’clock, but I would get to watch the cops of Chicago catch the bad guys right after that at eight during “Chicago P.D.” So the obsession began. My Tuesday nights revolving around finishing my

homework promptly at seven so I could watch my Chicago heros save the day, but Wolf didn’t stop there. The shows became so popular that he decided to create another great show, “Chicago Med” which comes on Wednesdays at seven o’clock.

The best part about all the shows isn’t even that they all take place in Chicago, it’s that when the firefighters or cops rescue someone hurt they bring them to a hospital. Now the doctors and nurses in the hospital aren’t just random characters who take the victims lives into their hands, they are the newest members of the Chicago family. So you can expect a lot of crossover events between all the shows. If you’re ready to invest yourself into a lifetime of happiness, I highly suggest watching these three shows. They have romance, action, comedy and unexpected endings that leave you wanting more. I can’t express enough how good of a decision it would be to start these series, so grab your binge-watching food and your favorite blanket to catch up on these nail bitting shows. G-Eazy: gains fame loses self “Black Star” shoots to the top By Jack McGann, Sports Editor I was eagerly waiting for the release of G-Eazy’s new album “When It’s Dark Out” and it turned out to be a complete disappointment. The weakness of this album came as asurprise to me because his previous album, “These Things Happen” is my favorite. G-Eazy sounds like every other rapper in the industry now. The main focus of each song on his new album is how

crazy his life is now that he is famous -nobody really cares. With the exception of the song “Drifting” and a few others, the tracks on this album are just like any other rap album. The reason I started listening to G-Eazy was because I liked what he was rapping about, such as growing up or dreams and aspirations. Now, he is either whining about all he has lost due to fame, or bragging about how nice it is to be rich. It’s as if I am listening to a completely different artist now, and I’m dumbfounded that G-Eazy could change so much over the course of a year. Personally, I am someone who will be

hyped up when listening to a quality rap song; however, when listening to this new album, I didn’t feel anything. The songs made me give up on G-Eazy and seriously consider never listening to his music again. G-Eazy should’ve stuck to his roots and rapped with people he came up with, as well as paint a picture for his fans. Instead, he decided to talk about fame and become a stereotypical rapper. An example of how terrible G-Eazy’s bragging sounds is in the song “One of

Them” when he says, “See normal people/ I’m not one of them.” It really vexed me when I heard this lyric because GEazy is just like every one of us. I feel as if G-Eazy wants his listeners to despise him now. It’s a tragedy seeing this man go from a humble rapper to such a boastful one. Overall, the album “When It’s Dark Out” was more of a metaphor to me. Maybe G-Eazy’s world is dark now. I know mine was after listening to this album. Contact Jack at jmcg1664@csd99.org
