The recently expanded library is a 33,000-square-foot building set on 14 wooded acres. Many windows provide wonderful views, and a nature trail leads visitors across a bridge and through the woods. The library houses more than 95,000 items, including books, large print books, DVDs, videos, music CDs, CD-

ROMs, audio books (tape, CD and Playaways), newspapers, and magazines. downloadable audiobooks, ebooks, and music are available online. Internet access and online databases provide patrons with the most current information available and programming,
including story hours, book discussion groups, summer reading programs, craft workshops, lectures, and more, is offered for all ages. Meeting rooms are available for nonprofit community groups, and three study rooms are available for quiet study
and small group meetings of up to four attendees. A Saline history room provides local and Michigan history sources, as well as a microfilm reader/printer and microfilm reels of back issues of The Saline Reporter newspaper. This area also contains two display cases of Bixby marionettes. The Bixby family lived in Saline for more than 100 years, and Meredith Bixby toured the South and Midwest for more than 40 years, showcasing his handcrafted puppets in 20,000 performances in schools, theaters, and community centers. Local art is displayed throughout the building. Exhibits change on a regular schedule.
Library Card Registration • All property owners and residents of the Saline Area School District are eligible for a free library card. Minors require the signature of a parent or legal guardian. If a library card is lost, the replacement fee is $1.50.
