former students, Donna said, and she’s honored to be a multiple-year nominee to Who’s Who Among American High School Teachers.
“Of all the teachers they’d had, and they could only choose one, they chose ME! Thank you, students,” Donna said.
She retired at 67 and faced another challenge — battling breast cancer. She also found love again and married Jim Hunt in 2013. The couple lives in Sturgis.

“Jim and I are in our sunset days,” Donna said. “It is good that God gave me a strong man at this time in my life. I cherish our days together.”
Through all of life’s ups and downs, Donna relies on five essentials for the joy and strength she needs.
“They are my Trinity, my family, my friends, love and my work. Without a single one of these, I don’t know where I’d be today,” she said.
