SKI CONSTRUCTION A. TOP GRAPHIC Provides great looking top graphics and a layer of UV protection increasing the skis longevity.

Connelly VersaTail allows the ability to fine tune the flow of water off the tail of the ski, taking a step beyond the standard fin and binding position adjustments. A change in tail geometry can mean the difference in a ski performing in perfect rhythm with your personal style. Three uniquely shaped VersaTail options are included with each DV8 slalom ski.

Connelly’s stock tail shape - designed to offer a balanced tail depth through the turn and across the wake.

A square tail shape that adds lift, support, and provides a clean release of water for speed. The round tail lets the ski sit deeper in the water into the turn, adding control at higher speeds for quicker turns and reduced tail blow out.

C. BINDING REINFORCEMENT This designated layer of glass reinforces the connection between your ski and bindings, transferring response from you to your ski without any lost energy.

D. CORE At the heart of the ski is the core. Our upper end skis use a lightweight PVC core to provide the ultimate in weight reduction and resilience. Our recreational skis use polyurethane cores to provide a stable and durable foundation. All our skis use reinforced threaded inserts, giving you a more secure connection to your ski.

BASE FEATURES

SPEED V-TECH V-Tech adapted for a faster moving ski. Curves in the “V” shaped steps disrupt more flow in the center of the tunnel and less along the edge. This reduces overall drag while maintaining edge hold.

B & E. FIBER REINFORCED LAYERS The reinforcing fibers used in the ski provide the strength and flex required to get you down the lake, whether you are just cruising or shredding buoys in a slalom course. We use different types, amounts and orientations of carbon and fiberglass depending on the skis intended use. Our high performance skis use carbon to provide the precision, control and explosive acceleration demanded by the high end skier. Our recreational skis use fiberglass for a more forgiving, less demanding ride, for those just looking to get out there and have a good time.

V-TECH V-Tech is the key to increased maneuverability and decreased drag. Six “V” shaped steps regulate the flow of water on the base of the ski by breaking up the wetted surface area from the front binding to the fin. In short, less water sticks to your ski as you accelerate forward.

F. BASE GRAPHIC Not only does the base hold the graphic layer and provide UV protection, it also features specific textures to help the ski perform at its best on the water, reducing drag and directing flow where it needs to go.

CONNELLY TRACKING SYSTEM A subtle spine feature on the tip of the ski helps keep the tip tracking straight while the boat starts to pull you up on deep water starts.

SKI LAY-UP SKELECORE Skelecore is our advanced core shaping technique that reduces overall core mass, allowing the fibers of the ski to react quicker and more naturally. 90/10 CARBON/GLASS Carbon is extremely light and super responsive. We combine that with 10% fiberglass which dampens vibration, making slight chop feel like butter and drastically increasing the life of your ski. 50/50 CARBON/GLASS Blending an equal mix of carbon and fiberglass creates a fast, responsive ski with consistent, smooth flex that won’t chatter on imperfect water. FIBERGLASS Fiberglass tech has been around since the 60’s but advancements in layup, weave, and fiberglass properties give us the consistent flex, vibration dampening, light weight skis we have today.

SKI WIDTH NARROW VS. WIDE

Our shapes are designed to be the perfect platform for your style of skiing. We achieve this by tuning the ski's width, flex, rocker, and bottom features to perform their absolute best within the speed range you ski. Narrow skis sit deeper in the water, giving you more contact and control with less surface area. Less width also makes edge transitions faster, requiring less leverage, allowing for quick turns, high angles and explosive speed. At slower speeds, more width is necessary to keep the ski in position so it can perform as intended. We use the same basic features as our top end skis and tune them for slower speeds to maximize performance and control. Slower speeds give more control to the skier, providing a more stable and predictable ride.

WIDE TUNNEL This tunnel design leaves an extremely narrow flat spot between the edge of the tunnel and the bevel of the ski. The effect is a ski that actively seeks to be on edge and is most useful for experienced skiers and buoy chasers that have above average ski control. DOUBLE TUNNEL Simply put, the double tunnel is a tunnel within a tunnel. This unique design sets the ski deep in the water and gives extra bite when on edge. STANDARD TUNNEL A concave feature that runs the center length of the ski, setting it deeper in the water and giving the skier more edge hold. A standard tunnel leaves more flat surface between the edge of the tunnel and the bevel, giving the ski more stability while maintaining edge hold.

Recreational skiers getting by on the same equipment they have used for decades are missing out on the advanced design that comes with over 50 years in the slalom industry. That old fiberglass brick with torn bindings in the corner of the ski room doesn't compare with the lightweight materials and technologies offered on the V. Features such as drag reducing V-Tech, and a stabilizing wider forebody, push the performance capabilities while remaining forviging enough for an enjoyable cruise around the lake.

The Carbon V utilizes our latest slalom geometries, core technology, fiber blends, along with drag reducing designs like V-Tech to create a ski that performs a step ahead of other mid-range skis. Skelecore, our advanced core shaping process, reduces the overall mass of the core allowing the fibers of the ski to flex quicker and more naturally. The 50/50 carbon/glass blend is light and responsive for peak course performance but can absorb chatter on imperfect water.

CONSTRUCTION

The GT-R plays to the strengths of both old school and new school skiing styles. Coming into the buoy the tail of the ski rides deep through the turn, carrying lots of speed with tremendous grip. Coming out of the turn the geometries in the ski help bring the tail up higher in the water to ease the load from the rope as you prepare to accelerate across the wake. Chasing buoys at the highest level requires a finely tuned swerve stick that reacts in all the right places, which is why the GT-R is the ultimate slalom weapon.

Now donning a classic Connelly vintage look, the HP is a smooth and forgiving intermediate ski with years of design experience poured into the mold. The tunnel is shallow and narrow, stabilizing the ski for cruising around the lake, but is deep enough to carve huge turns. A single piece “U” shaped design provides youngsters with the most stable platform to learn the basics of skiing. SURF Surf styles use a multitude of rail shapes, board outlines, and fin setups to produce different riding styles and skill levels. There’s more than one way to ride a wave and we recommend trying them all. HYBRID Hybrid surf designs generally have a thin profile, somewhat sharp rail, and a deeper surf style fin. The result is a fast acting, responsive board that can carve a mean line as well.

FINS

QUAD The need-for-speed fins setup. Two front fins are accompanied by two smaller rear fins. Both sets are flat foil, which allows for water to pass through the centerline without resistance while the curved outer surface creates lift and hold into the face of the wave. TRI Possibly the most common surf fin setup of all time. A large center fin provides superior tracking while the two flat foil side fins generate speed and hold in the face of the wave. TWIN With no center fin there's less resistance through the middle of the board, which allows for more speed and makes it easy to break free on a slash while still being grippy enough to hold on the bottom turn. SKATE This fin setup has been used in our line since we started making surfers. This bolt-through style is reliable, easy to use and customizable. Use all three fins for a stable ride, remove the center fin for a twin fin feel, or pull the side fins for a skim style setup. SKIM For those that like to play it fast and loose, this setup releases super easy and makes tricks like spinning and ollies easy to initiate.

Four-time World Champion Ashley Kidd… Oh, you need more? The AK is as dynamic as the rider behind it. Ashley's progressive style demands a shape that is ultra-responsive up and down the wave. Added tail rocker allows lightning quick turns, and a tip-to-tail concave base design combined with a relatively narrow width make the AK the fastest reacting board in the Connelly line. Increased maneuverability makes it easier for riders to generate speed for locked in bottom turns, big spray slashes, or above-the-lip aerials.

SQUARE Square tails are wide and offer a lot of surface area for a stable platform. They take a little more time to transition edges, making them perfect for beginners. ROUND The all-around performance shape. Water is able to wrap around the curve of the tail increasing traction, and the larger surface area keeps the board high on the water for maneuverability. DIAMOND Similar surface area compared to round tails keeps this shape high and maneuverable. The angle created at the rear part of the rail releases water for a faster overall feel. FANG This shape allows for a longer rail in the tail of the board with less volume. In conjunction with the channels on the base of the board, water releases from these points for a fast and loose feel. FISH The two points of the fish tail act as two separate tails. Water flows along the rail to the furthest point back on the board for a stable ride. Removing the space between the tips keeps it maneuverable.

SWALLOW Swallow tails increase the turning arcs in boards that have a wider tail shape. Width in the tail adds to push and stability and is balanced by the mobility in the swallow shape. WING A wing is technically a rail feature. This shape is a turning in of the rail, usually around the fin, that releases water at the dip as opposed to the tail, creating a looser feel.

This wave weapon just got lighter, snappier, and easier to boost, so much so that it has been given the official seal of approval by none other than Steel Lafferty. Okay, stop reading, just look at it and go get one.

By far the most aggressive bottom shaping we’ve ever used on a surfer. The result is one of the most dynamic rides ever made that’s free and maneuverable at the top of the wave and has rocket boosting speed on bottom turns. The twin fin setup minimizes drag for chasing the pocket and breaks free off the lip. An aggressive wing feature off the rail breaks the flow of water in the tail for lightning fast maneuverability.

You know the boat is going to come back around but you lay on your Ono and paddle anyway. We get it. There's something about gazing to the horizon between sets. The Benz has been a favorite of both skim and surf riders for many years, and in those years we've learned a thing or two.
