Michigan Baseball Shines with the Help of Two Rossers A noteworthy academic year was capped off by Michigan baseball's first appearance in the College World Series (CWS) in 35 years, where the team concluded its improbable postseason run as national runner-up. Two Michigan Ross students played key roles throughout the tournament: first baseman and co-captain Jimmy Kerr, BSE '20 and Ross business minor student, and closer and co-captain Benjamin Keizer, MM '19. Kerr's grandfather John Kerr (BBA '62/MBA '63) played for the last U-M team to win the championship in 1962, and his father Derek Kerr (MBA '91) was a member of U-M's last two CWS teams in 1983 and 1984. Keizer, a graduate of the U-M School of Kinesiology, is also part of a U-M sports family: his brother Jonathan played football from 2011-2014.
