EDITO EDITORIAL Au nom du comité exécutif, des professeurs et du personnel de l’Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur je vous souhaite une nouvelle année heureuse et prospère. De notre côté, nous nous efforcerons de vous apporter le meilleur en termes de cours de français, d’activités culturelles et de services. La fin de 2013 a été marquée par l’inauguration des locaux rénovés de notre centre de Lorong Gurney en présence de M. Thierry Mariani, ancien Ministre et Député à l’Assemblée Nationale. A cette occasion nous avions réunis de nombreux amis, partenaires et mécènes de l’Alliance française. Notre Présidente, YAM Tengku Datin Paduka Setia Zatashah Sultan Idris Shah, a souligné les réalisations et les nouvelles ambitions de l’AFKL, une association à but non lucratif. Je souhaite également remercier les sponsors de l’événement : Martell, Sothy’s, Gallery 69 et Ken’s Apothecary. Je vous invite à parcourir notre lettre d’information et à découvrir notre programme. Nous continuons nos séances de contes pour enfants qui rencontrent un grand succès. The occasion saw the gathering of many friends, partners and sponsors of the Alliance Française. Our president, YAM Tengku Datin Paduka Setia Zatashah Sultan Idris Shah, underlined the achievements and new ambitions of AFKL, a nonprofit organization. RECEPTION AT ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE
Le 10 décembre 2013, l’Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur a organisé une réception en l’honneur de M. Thierry Mariani, député de la 11ème circonscription des Français établis hors de France, et en présence de S.E. Mme Martine Dorance, Ambassadeur de France en Malaisie. Cette soirée a été l’occasion d’inaugurer les locaux rénovés grâce à une subvention de l’Assemblée Nationale obtenue par M. Mariani. De nombreuses personnalités du monde économique, diplomatique, culturel et éducatif étaient présentes ainsi que les partenaires de l’Alliance française et les mécènes du French Art & Film Festival organisé chaque année par l’AFKL et l’Ambassade de France en Malaisie. La Présidente de l’Alliance française, Y.A.M Tengku Zatashah binti Sultan Idris Shah, a réaffirmé la volonté du comité exécutif de l’Alliance française de continuer à embellir et moderniser les locaux et de se conformer davantage encore à la charte qualité définie par la Fondation Alliance française.
On 10 December 2013, the Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur organised a reception for the Honourable Mr Thierry Mariani, Member of the National Assembly of France for the 11th Constituency for French Residents Overseas, in the presence of the Ambassador of France to Malaysia, Her Excellency Mrs Martine Dorance. The reception was the occasion to commemorate the inauguration of its premises renovated thanks to a subsidy from the National Assembly with the help of Mr Mariani. Several personalities from the economic, diplomatic, cultural and educational fields attended the event, alongside with partners of Alliance Française and sponsors of the French Art & Film Festival organised each year by AFKL and the Embassy of France in Malaysia. President of Alliance Française Y.A.M Tengku Zatashah binti Sultan Idris Shah reassessed the executive committee’s will to keep modernising and embellishing the premises in order to comply with the quality guidelines defined by Fondation Alliance française.

A l’occasion de la soirée de Noël organisée le 14 décembre a été annoncé le nom du gagnant du concours annuel de photographie pour Kuala Lumpur. Shireen Zainudin-Lowe entre désormais dans la phase internationale de la compétition à laquelle participent les gagnants des autres Alliances Françaises participantes à travers le monde. Le 24 janvier, la Fondation Alliance Française annoncera le nom du grand gagnant qui remportera un séjour d’une semaine à Paris.
FONDATION ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE’S PHOTO COMPETITION At the Christmas party held on 14 December, the winner of the annual photography competition for Kuala Lumpur was announced. Shireen Zainudin-Lowe will now enter the international phase of the competition with other winners from Alliance Française worldwide. Fondation Alliance Française will announce the winner on 24 January 2014 where the grand prize is a week stay in Paris.

UNE SOIRÉE EN PROVENCE Samedi 22 février, 18h Pour reprendre les mots d’Yvan Audouard, « en Provence, le soleil se lève deux fois, le matin et après la sieste ». Rarement en effet la conscience française n’aura à ce point associé une région à l’image de la dilettante, où toute la vie serait rythmée par la rencontre subtile entre un climat idéal et un idéal de vie épicurien. Ce sont les fondements de cet imaginaire que Sébastien Ruggiero vous propose de découvrir à l’occasion d’une conférence qui mettra vos sens en éveil : de la lavande au vin rosé en passant par le chant des cigales, la Provence parle au corps. Cette conférence sera aussi l’occasion d’enrichir de manière ludique votre vocabulaire en explorant ces mots de la langue française associés à cette région unique,où beaucoup de Français rêvent d’avoir un cabanon. These tests assess your level in French for different skills (listening, speaking, reading and/or writing), different purposes and a short validity (1 to 2 years). Do not hesitate to discuss your project with us - we will recommend you the test which suits your goals the best. Alliance Francaise de Kuala Lumpur is a center to sit for: - TCF-TP & TEF-TP: to assess your level, to join French university - TCF-ANF: to apply for French nationality if you are married to a French citizen - TCF-Q & TEFaQ: to immigrate to Quebec. Please, be aware that, since July 2013, Quebec government changed the rules for immigration: level B2 is now required for oral skills (listening and speaking) and written skills (reading, writing) can also give you extra points. Consider our classes to improve your French and our preparation workshops to get trained for the test.
