In this edition of the magazine, we’ll show you two different, easy ways of adding small details to the doll’s houses that you have at home. For instance, pennants are a great way of letting everyone know there’s a party going on. Another great accessory tip is ironing beads to make hot pads and picture frames for your own paintings! Looking for more ideas? Check out our website at: www.lundby.com
There are lots of dogs, cats and rabbits to choose from for your house – and they add a really cosy touch. In this magazine, we give our favourite pets the attention they deserve as real members of the family. See page 4 and forward.

“We fell in love with the idea of a house that’s alive and where the rooms are for everyone.”
Sarah and Thomas’ beautiful house is three stories high with two bedrooms and lots of large open areas where everyone can be together. “We fell in love with the idea of a house that’s alive and where the rooms are for everyone,” says Sarah. It’s important for Sarah that there’s a place in each room for the family’s things. “I’m really organised and I love it when things are cosy. That means you have to be sure that all of the toys, newspapers, books and clothes that lie around every family’s home can be quickly

Dad grows his own vegetables and Mum sits in the sun and reads. “Being close to nature and the garden are probably why we’ll stay in this house forever,” says Sarah. But for the children, Alice and Simon, the bedroom they share is their favourite place. “Actually, Mum doesn’t like us having our pets in here but I think they like it here too,” says Simon, who just let his rabbit out of the cage in the bedroom. “And it will be even cosier when Adam moves in here too,” says Alice, who loves playing with her little brother. It’s easy to see why the family likes living here. They’ve really found a home in Småland. ✪

THE LOVELY SMELL FROM THE BARBECUE spreads around the neighbourhood, accompanied by the children’s happy shouts and laughter from the pool. “We love to swim,” says Leon, 6 and Mathilda, 8, who were over the moon when Mum and Dad bought a house with a pool. “A lot of people might think it’s an unnecessary luxury but if you love sunshine and swimming then that’s what you should go for,” says Michael, the father. The family loves spending a week each year on the Mediterranean, which has also inspired the way they’ve decorated their home in one way:
“Well, we’ve put a lot of effort into making a really beautiful terrace, where we can treat friends and neighbours to barbecued food as often as possible. I love Greek food, charcoal-grilled chicken, souvlaki and gyros. They’re perfect things to make here,” says Stella, the mother. This evening, the neighbours have been invited in for a party and everyone is looking forward to a long, warm and light Swedish summer evening. “The Mediterranean has its charm but it doesn’t have the long, light Scandinavian evenings,” says Stella dreamily. ✪

“The process of coming up with ideas and sketches is much the same but then producing the actual product is quite different. When you make furniture for fully-grown people, you have to use materials and designs that are sturdy enough to sit in; doll’s house furniture has to be durable enough to play with. We also work with very different materials in the various projects.”

Ann Morsing and Beban Nord ordinarily work as architects and furniture designers but now and then they also work in a mini-format – when they create houses and furniture for Lundby. “Making doll’s houses is really great fun. It makes you think back to how you played as a
child, how your own children played and then you try to create something that children will think is the most fun ever,” says Beban Nord. Is there a big difference between designing furniture for a doll’s house and “real” furniture?
What are your favourite products? “It’s always fun to make miniversions of the same furniture that we once made for adults, such as the green chairs in Stockholm’s TV set or a coffee table that we’ve made in a normal size.” How do you go about making new furniture? “We develop the ideas together. Then we really try to get a feel for the dolls and their lives. What are their families like? How do they spend their days? How would they like their home to be? It’s very close to playing – we fantasise about the dolls’ lives and then we split the actual furniture production between the two of us.” ✪ LUNDBY LIVING 15

THERE’S NEARLY ALWAYS an aroma of freshly baked bread and tasty soups at Harry and Caroline’s home and they enjoy
preparing their own meals. “If you prepare meals yourself, you know exactly what you’re eating, and that’s how I like it,”
says Harry, who has become the house’s master of the kitchen. His speciality is sourdough bread and he has a sourdough that he LUNDBY LIVING 17

For Caroline, yoga is just as great a passion. “I discovered yoga five years ago and fell for it completely. It’s fun and a different way of getting exercise. It’s also practical when you have a baby because I can do it on the bedroom floor,” she says as her 8-month-old baby stands in the cot and watches. It’s obvious that this young family enjoys getting exercise – their running shoes are lined up in the hall and the towel cupboard is full of clean towels for anyone who needs a shower. “With small children, the only exercise that you have time for is the kind you can do from home,” says Harry. But of course they enjoy relaxing too. The TV’s in the kitchen and they enjoy cooking programs best. “All my cooking ideas come from TV shows and magazines. I like to challenge myself in the kitchen”, says Harry. Pets are another of the family’s passions. With three rabbits, two dogs and two cats, one of them is always ready to snuggle up. ✪ 18 LUNDBY LIVING
Step 1. Take some sturdy string and cut it to the length you want the string of pennants to be. About 20 cm is a good length to start with. Step 2. Use patterned tape, cut 3-cm-long pieces and fold them over the string so that they stick together. Step 3. Cut triangles from the pieces of tape in the size that you want. Repeat this with a space of a halfcentimetre between each pennant until you have a whole string of pennants. Leave at least 5 cm at each end so that you can hang it up.

And everyone loves having Grandmother and Grandfather
