Placing snow on the county’s highway right-of-way (fence to fence, not just the traveled portion) may cause hazards to snow removal and crews and the traveling public. Section 319.13 of the Code of Iowa provides that any temporary obstruction placed on the right-of-way can be removed and the costs for removal assessed against the owner or persons responsible for such placement. If the obstruction constitutes an immediate and dangerous hazard, it may be removed without notice; otherwise, a 48 hour notice to the responsible persons will be given before removal will be made. We request your cooperation to keep costs down for yourself and your fellow citizens throughout the county.
