If I was an elf, I’d make cars, dolls, snow globes, farm toys BC-IG second graders in Danielle Babcock’s class answer: If you were an elf, what kinds of toys would you make?
are so fun to play with outside and I am collecting them and I play with them after school. Michael Greder: If I were an elf I would make a hippopotamus because it is cute and it can stay under water for ive minutes. A lot of animals can’t stay under water that long and they help us by eating plants and grass.
Ella Boysen: If I were an elf I would make a train because it will be easier to make. I love trains. They are fun to make and I am the boss of the train. They are fun to ride. It feels like you are in a donut. You should ride a train. Creighton Cadwell: If I were an elf I would make hot wheels cars and matchbox cars too. I like hot wheel cars because they are cool. I like matchbox cars because they make them look real. Kadyn Conolly: If I were an elf I would make some farming stuff like combines and semis and maybe tractors. And the reason why is that I play with them with my neighbor and my brother. I play with them in my room almost every night. I might play with them tonight with my brother. Kasey DeVine: If was an elf I would make any toy that Santa told me to make like an American girl doll and a fuzzy blanket and a lot of fuzzy socks. I would make them because they are so comfy that I can do anything in them and I would make the American girl doll because I really like them. Jayden Evans: If I were an elf I would make a snow globe because they are pretty! I will make kids clothes to wear. I will make boys soccer balls. I will make monster trucks for boys and everything. The girls will get jewelry and necklaces. Boys and girls can get a computer.
Some Junie B. Jones books and lots of American girl dolls. Because you guys will love most of the toys you wanted for Christmas. I hope you have fun. Santa told me to make all these toys and give them all over the world to kids. Ashlyn Frye: If I were an elf I would make all kinds of toys. Then, I would wrap them. Books would be my favorite thing to make. I would put my books into stores and contests. My favorite books to make will be diary books. These are two of them, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid.” I would make these books because they will be interesting. Savanna Gigaroa: I would make American girl doll clothing and shoes and necklaces and bracelets and headbands and beds and slippers. I would make EOS containers and books and Little House on the Prairie disc and make shopkins. I would make all these toys because they are my favorite things to play with. They
Braeden Green: If I was an elf I would make Legos because all you have to do is melt plastic into shapes and then put circles on the top and gather some together to make Lego sets. I would make them because I like to play with Legos. Xavier Kelly: If I were an elf I would make a wind up cheetah because they are my favorite animal and they are the fastest land animal. They also are endangered and they can make a bird sound to call their cubs. Matthew Knudsen: If I was an elf I would build farm toys for people, because I like to build toys and play with them. Jenessa Kolar: If I was an elf I would make a doll because it would be easier to make. All you would do is just get stuf ing and fabric. First you would sew a thing like a doll and leave a hole then put stuf ing in it. Then it needs eyes, ears and a mouth. Then I will bring it to my owner. Samuel Lansink: If I was an elf I would make Lego sets for little boys and girls. I have tons of them and I feel like all kids should play
with them. Surianna Messing: If I were an elf, I would make stuffed animals because they help you go to sleep sometimes. If you have a hard toy they won’t help you sleep because they are hard. Ali Nichols: I would make stuffed animals. Mostly big ones that could hold your dog. It would be a great help. I’d make some small ones. I would make every kind you ask Santa for. Because I love stuffed animals just like you. I’m also really fast at making them so I need to make big ones. I’ll make hundreds of small stuffed animals in one day. Two big stuffed animals in one day. Joshua Parks: If I was an elf I would make a football, because kids really like to play with them and they are fun. Kylie Petersen: If I were an elf I would make a huge teddy bear that would be bigger than a house so I can sleep on it. I would make this because I’ve always wanted a huge bear. Niyalla Reitz: If I was an elf I would make a toy doll, so all the children on the earth could have one. I like them because you can dress them up and you can pretend they are real. Lauren Siegner: If I was an elf I would make a stuff animal elephant. I like elephants and I can squeeze it. Eidan Skirvin: If I was an elf I would make a card game, because a lot of people like to play card games.

G-H fourth graders share tradi ons Students in Mikell Brosamle’s fourth grade class at GalvaHolstein Upper Elementary School answer: What does Christmas mean to you? What Christmas means to me is gathering around the Christmas tree, or being with family and even making a gingerbread hous. It’s not about what presents, clothes or shoes you get. It’s about spending time with your family. I celebrate my Christmas with my cousins. Last year we made home-made cookies for Santa. Sometimes we make decorations for the tree too. I think you should think of Christmas like a very special holiday. Xaria Rojas What Christmas means to me. It means having a big family surrounding me. Just take a second to think about the people who don’t have a family or don’t even have a home. I just love everything that I have. Chritmas reminds me just how fortunate I am. Elizabeth Schimmer To me Christmas means being with my famly. We get to spend time with them and eat with them. We play games like checkers and uno. When we have Christmas with my Dad and Mom we get cool presents. It is Jesus birthday and that is important. I like Christmas because I got to spend time with my family and it is really fun. Conner Jacobson When I think of Christmas I think of waking up and running downstairs to open presents with my family. I also think of our church Christmas play on Sunday. We always look in our stockings irst. Then we open our gifts. After that we usually go to our grandparents and eat patatoes and other amazing things at both of my grandparents houses. We also stay up late and talk for a long time. It is so fun. Carson Harriman What Christmas means to me is that families get together and celebrate Jesus’s birthday. I think that if Jesus was not on Earth we would not have Christmas. We also celarbrate Christmas with gifts. Santa goes around giving presents to everyone. We also celarbrate Christmas with Christmas trees. That’s where Santa puts the presents. Since Santa goes around the world people leave out milk and cookies too. Brody Bisenius Spending time with my family and celebrating Jesus’ birthday. Two of the traditions our family
has are decorating cookies and putting ornaments on the Christmas tree. We leave cookies and carrots out for santa and his reindeer. My cousins and I also like playing games and listening to songs. I love Christmas. Noah Struck Christmas to me is a time to get together with family and to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It’s not about getting. It’s about giving. Although it is very fun to set up the tree and set out the milk and cookies; it’s not about that, it’s about family and Jesus. It’s a very important holiday. I celebrate family traditions such as getting on pajamas, drinking hot chocolate while driving around the night before we leave for Grandma’s house. Kyle Burk Christmas makes me think of Christmas traditions. Every year my Mom’s side of the family gathers around the Christmas tree and watches were is Santa Claus is in the world. When we celebrate with my dad’s side we always sleepover at my grandpa’s and grandma’s house and stay up really late. I love spending time with my family on Christmas. Addison Voge Christmas means to celebrate Jesus’s Birthday. It is not about presents. I think that it is about family. Jesus gave his life for our sins. It is also about making gingerbeard houses with family. It is also about playing with cousins. Gavin Vohs I don’t celebrate Christmas just for presents. I celebrate Jesus’s birthday with my family. I like when the kids put on a play at are church. It’s a lot of fun because when the mom and dad leave the toys come alive. I love when my family celebrates Christmas. I like when the kids play cops and robbers at my grandmas. Ethan Dutler What Christmas means to me is a lot about family. My family gets together and we have egg bake. It is very good. We open presents all together. My family thanks God for doing everything for us. My family goes to church with us. We blow out candels. My favorile part is leaving out cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. I Love making cookies with my family. I Love putting up the Christmas tree at Christmas. Cadey Vohs Spending time with my family. One other thing I like is opening
presents. A nother thing I like is putting cookies out for Santa. The thing I like best I putting reindeer food out on the lawn. I enjoy gathering around the Christmas tree. Celebrating Jesus’s Birthday. We have traditions like playing Hide and Go seek, tag, snow football, snow baseball, snow hide and go seek and snow tag. I love spending time with cousins and friends and staying in my pajamas all day. Landon Dubord Well there’s Jesus’s Birthday and my cousin Kyllens birthday. To celebrate Jeus’s birthday we have a Chistmas concert at the Galva Lutheran Church. We do our family traitions. First, I open my presents. Then, I go to my grandma’s house and I also go to my uncles house. You might have diffent traditions, but that is ours. Do you spend time with family? I know we do. MaKayla Rasmussen Christmas is one of my favorite holidays not because of the presents but we get to be with are family and it’s Jesus’s birthday. When it’s Christmas Eve we put out cookies for Santa and carrots for the rein deer. We go to sleep at about 7:30 and wake up at 6:00. Dranelle McCray Christmas is the only holiday we decorate for. It’s one of the few times our whole family gets together. I like making Christmas cookies. We also go to church on Christmas week. We go to church during the week day because Jesus’s Birthday is on Christmas. Elle Juelfs What Christmas means to me is eating with my family on Christmas Eve. Also reindeer, Jesus’s Birthday and Christmas trees. I like leaving out cookies and carrots for Santa and the reindeer. A Christmas tradition for me is putting the old wrapping paper in garbage bags and burning the bags and most importantly lighting a big firework. At school we play games, eat treats and do a gift exchange. That’s what Christmas means to me. Lillian Whitmer Christmas is my favorite holiday. It is so fun. We gather around the Christmas Tree. When you go to bed Santa will give you presents so you can open them. When we go to church there is a dance. It is so cool. Melanne Herrera

BC-IG Snyder’s fourth graders share holiday traditions Students in Janet Snyder’s fourth grade class at Battle Creek-Ida Grove Elementary School answer: What are your favorite holiday traditions? One tradition I have is my elf on the shelf. I have a girl one and a boy one. Ever since I got one we put it in the living room. The male one is Chip and the female one is Vannah. At night they move around the house, one year Chip was siting on the tree. At Christmas we have my Aunt Bee and cousin Robert. We play board games too. We have a board game with marbles and we sit in the living room, or the kids sit on the table and watch tv. Then my family leaves, and we sit down, then go to bed. Savannah Meseck My family traditions are $5 gifts. That’s when you buy a $5 gift and you pick a card. We also do pictures of ouer family. Me and my sisters go bake Christmas cookies. We dercorate the tree on Christmas Eve. Ashytn sets out cookies for Santa. Then we open our presents at our house and my Grandmas house and my other Grandmas house. We all go to my Grandmas house to have nachos. If we want we will take out are new snowmobiles and ramp and race. Then maybe we will take out my uncles fourwheeler. We all open are letters. We open are stockings. We open are small gifts, the medium ones and then my favorite, the big ones. We go to my Grampas house and open our gifts. In conclusion we eat our cookies. I always take the most frosted one and the most sprinkled one. Those ar some of my favorte holiday traditions. Jaiston Jung A holiday tradition at my house is when I wake up I go to my moms room and wake her up. Then, I wake up my sister and we open presents. But before Christmas, we have a Chistmas Eve presents which are a movie, some pajamas and a cup with hot coco. Also, we put up the Christmas tree and decorate it and the house to. Then, we go to granda Shanon’s house for Christmas. When we get there we make homemade play-dough. Then, we open presents and play games like horseshoe, kickball, bowling and Sorry the board game. We also have a Christmas feast. We have turkey, pizza, stuf ing and lots more. Those are some of my favorite holiday traditions. Jayms Williams A holiday tradition at my House would be setting up a Christmas tree. Me My sister Brynley help our mom put all the decorations on the tree. Then we put the decorations all over the house. There is so many thou its really hard for everyone to pick one. I picked a calender it’s a calender that we count down from. My mom helps us get started. All the way till Chrismas. But before Christmas day the night before Christmas we set some cookies out for Santa Claus. Some carrots for the rain deers too. On, Christmas Morning Me My sister Brynley and maybe my little sister Tornice will get a thing or two. She is the best baby in the world you know. My other sister too. After, Christmas
Day we go to my Grandma Mary and Grandpa Tonys house for Dinner. We eat chicken, ham, ice cream, pie, casserole, chips and dip and especially lots of love. These are some of my favorite Holiday traditions. Marley Smith A holiday tradition at my house is putting names in a hat and pulling them out. I’ll explain to you. It’s only my mom’s family that does this but she brings us along for it because its fun. So you put all the names in the hat and you pull two of them out. Those are people that get each other presents. Here’s one thing that almost happens every year. Sometimes we pull the same names in the same house. That’s a problem because then we know what there going to get us. We have to draw again. Now I’ll tell you how we open presents. We go oldest to youngest in my unkles house well for the kids we go oldest to youngest. At my Nana’s house we go youngest to oldest. First we go look at the stocking’s and open them. We open them one by one. I like waching other people open their presents but I opening mine too. We go upstairs and eat breakfast. The kids sit at the kid table in the living room. I have to sit there with Brayden, my brother and Anna and Cara. After breakfast the adults play card games and I wach Brayden if Anna and Cara are playing too. Those are a few of my favrite holiday traditions. Abbe Uken A holiday tradition in my family is on Christmas Eve we always go to my Grandma’s and Grandpa’s house. Our cousins are always there. If it is snowy outside we will either sled or make a snowman. After that we eat. We always eat chicken, mash potatoes and gravy and corn. Then we all gather in the living room and open presents. Usually the little kids open their presents irst then the grownups. Then we go home. Another tradition is after we go to our Grandma’s and Grandpa’s house we go home and open presents from our Mom and Dad. We all open our presents one by one. The reason we do that is because my mom and Dad take pictures. Sometimes after that we watch movies. Then we go to bed. Another tradition is on the morning of Christmas we all open our presents from Santa. First we take the stuff from our stockings. Then we open our presents. We open them one by one. Then we get ready to go to our other Grandma’s and Grandpa’s. Another tradition is we go to our other Grandma’s and Grandpa’s. When we get there we eat. Then we open presents. We always spend the night there. The next morning we eat breakfast. Then we leave. Those are some of my favorite traditions. Kaleb Taylor What are my favorite holiday traditions? I have tons of them. From putting up the tree to making cookies. I have a lot more, and I mean a lot. Let me tell you about them. Every Christmas the irst thing we do is put up the Christmas tree. It’s super fun. We usually have green, gold and red ornaments.
Then we watch movies and have cocoa. One of our favorite movies is Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. I also like making cookies. We have a few and they’re really good. We usually have Santa, reindeer, bells, sleights and Christmas tree shaped cookies. Every Christmas Eve we go to my Grandma Nichol’s house. We play for a little while then go church. Then we come back and Santa comes. Then my cousin McKenna and I sing songs to everone. Then we open presented with everyone. Next we go home and get cookies and carrots out for Santa and his reindeer. Then we read “The Night Before Christmas.” We wake up in the morning and rush downstairs. There’s tons of presents. I’ve never gotten coal before. We open our presents. Then we go to our stockings. There’s always a ton of candy. Then around 12:00 we go to my Grandma Patera’s house and open presents from her. Then my cousins and I go and play. One of our favorite games to play is pioneers. Then we go back to home and hang out. Those are my Christmas traditions. Christmas is my favorite holiday. It’s the birthday of Jesus and is really fun. I love celebrating it with my family. Do you have Christmas traditions Do you spend them with your family? I hope you do. Merry Christmas. Alexis Patera One holiday tradition I do is go to my second cousins house. When we go there we get presents from them and just hang out. We usually meet up with some of our family there. We some times turn on Christmas movies. Like “Home Alone.” That’s one of our favorites. We might just choose a random movie that’s on. Another tradition we do is we sometimes put all of the kids names on different pieces of paper and put it in a hat. We then pull out two different pieces of paper. Then we look at the names on the paper and those two people have to buy a present for the each other. Some times our parents give us a little bit of money for the other persons present. For another tradition we put up our stockings. We have two different ire places to hang up our stockings. One is fake and the other is real. We usually put our stocking up on the real one because there’s a bigger place to put them. On our stockings is the irst letter of our name. To hold the stockings up we each have little statue things that we put on the string connected to our stockings. Those are some of my holiday traditions. I could write a bunch more. Hopefully you have some fun traditions too. I also hope you have a Merry Christmas. Hayden Zimmerman I have three Christmas events. I go to one of my grandmas and open presents. Then I open my own presents at home. Then I go play with my cousin grandmas. Then we leave and go to our other
grandmas. We even get are cat toys to play with. Last year I got shoes last year. They were my favorite gift. I get to play with my other cusens. We play boardgames. Patrick Ehrig At my house on Christmas Eve we get the tree. When we get the tree we like to igger out were to put it. Then we like to put ornaments on the tree and have Christmas music playing. We make cookies too. I like to help my mom make them. We don’t always make cakes on Christmas but we tend to. It’s fun. On Christmas Day we like to wait till everyone is up then we open presents. I like to test them out if it shoots. But I wait to play with them after everyone is done opening presents. We then eat the food like cookies and cake and other food too. Scaty Cat would always climb up the Christmas tree. Those are some of my favorite holiday traditions. Cale Tromp At my grandma Patera’s house my cousins come over to my grandma’s house. We eat and talk. Then when it’s time we open our presents. The youngest opens irst. When we are all done opening our presents. We get to play with our toys that we got. At my other grandma’s house all my other cousins go to my grandma’s house. We watch tv we play with our cousins. Then we open presents. They youngest goes irst and then the oldest goes last. My grandma usually has cookies and they are usually so good. At my house we eat dinner witch is a special dinner. Then when were done we go and open presents. The youngest one gets to open irst the oldest last. Then we go to bed. Then on Christamas we go down stairs to open presents. Then we go upstairs and eat breakfast and then we play with our toys that we got. Those are my holiday traditions. Andrew Parks On Christmas eve we go to my Grandma’s house. At Grandma’s house we have supper and we hang out together. We open presents watch a cupple of movie. Then we go home to decorate the tree. We watch a video of Santa. The we read “The Night Before Christmas.” Then we go to bed and wait for Santa to come. On Chrismas day we go down stairs and open presents. We play with them. We get ready for family to come. We cook a big lunch and then we all hang out. Then we play cards. It’s really fun. Then they go home. And we rest. We watch movie and spend time together. What do you do on chrismas? John Kruse A holiday tradition we do at my house is we do baking. Well, my Grandma and I do. This year Gary and I and my Grandpa are putting an air hockey table and a ping pong table together. On Christmas Gray and I open our presents. I know what I am getting this year. My Grandap is going to ty to get an iphone 5. We eat a turkey, mash potatoes and corn. This year I’m going to get my Grandpa and Grandma a present. Those are some of my favorite holiday tradition. Jordyn Hinrickson On Christmas Eve we put up the tree. Then we put the star on the tip top of the tree. But irst we have to put up all ive mini trees x-mas trees. We have to put up three tall trees, a 12 foot, a three foot and a four foot. On Christmas Day we make green and red obbleck. This year I have to put a cat in a box for my baby sister. Then we open presents. And then we play with them. Keegan Hoaglund My favorite holiday tradition is that one week before Christmas we put up our Christmas tree. We take a box of decorations from the basement and decorate the tree. The ornaments were from long ago, and my Mom made some of them when she was little. In second grade, I made a snowman ingerprint ornament and hung that on the tree. A holiday tradition at my house is Christmas. My family puts names in a hat or box the day before Christmas. If I picked a sibling id have to put the paper back in the hat or box, if I picked my cousin I’d have to buy them a present. Then we have a quick supper we put out cookies and milk for Santa. We put out carrots for the reindeer also. After all that stuff we go to bed and wait for Santa to come. It’s Christmas morning and the irst thin we do is wait for everybody to wake up. Then we open our stockings, after stockings we open our presents, ps they were spectacular. After presents I put everything away, then I got everything back out again and started playing with all the toys. Halle Montgomery

Christmas means family, Jesus birth, fun, presents, food, games Students in Kelsie Nettles’ fourth grade class at Battle Creek-Ida Grove Elementary School answer: “What Christmas means to me?” Christmas reminds me of baking cookies with my sister, mom and dad. Every Christmas I go to grandpa’s house and open presents from our family. It also reminds me of going to church and lighting the candles. Christmas makes me think of going outside in the snow and then coming inside and then drinking hot chocolate. When I think of Christmas I think of setting up our decorations and Christmas tree. The best part of Christmas is spending time with family. Blake Corbin To me Christmas is about celebrating when Jesus was born. I love Jesus. I am thankful for my family, friends, Jesus and I am also thankful for thanksgiving. I love everything and thankful for everything. Every year my family and I put the star on top of the tree. The youngest one puts the star on top of the tree. Last year, I had the most presents and the one who has the most presents gets a cookie. I love to sleep a lot, so every morning on Christmas I count how many I have. Last year I saw Santa and a reindeer. Every year my mom makes cookies that look like Santa, so I told my mom I love her a lot and she said she loves me too. Every year I try to play dress up with my little sister Journey. She is the best sister in the world. Every year is fun at my house. Every year we have a meal and the meal is goulash. I love goulash. On Christmas Eve night I try to sleep but I cannot sleep. I wait until Santa comes. I love putting up the Christmas tree because my family and I put up a lot of lights on the tree. The Christmas tree is special to me a lot. We have rainbow lights. The lights we have for the Christmas tree go in a pattern of three colors. The angel is prettier than the star. Angels come from heaven. I want to go to heaven. Every year is so much fun. I do not know how to explain it. Abby Minor
On Christmas we have lots of fun at Aunt Sandy’s, Grandma Deb’s, Mom’s and Dad’s. On Christmas we get to spend time with family and friends we all play games like Bean Boozled. Last year I won. We also play games in the house like tag and Chucky. Chucky is like hide and seek, but someone has to scare four people out of a room. We all thank Jesus and the Lord for the food then we eat, the drinks, the clothes we wear like boots, pants, and shirts we thank Jesus and the Lord for school. We celebrate Jesus’s birthday. We all sing songs like Rudolph the red nose reindeer. We all have a big feast at the feast we have biscuit, chicken, potatoes, gravy, Jell-O and angel cake. Serenity Pierson Christmas means fun, family and the birth of Jesus and the food that my grandma makes for Christmas dinner. Every Christmas, we watch a Christmas movie. For example, The Polar Express. The foods that my grandma makes are green bean casserole, apple pie, pork, corn and corn on the cob. Cooper Dausel My family and I every Christmas play Uno it’s a fun game we eat and open presents It’s fun because I always get a super hero toy. I always make Christmas cookies with my grandma every Christmas. I always get to eat irst with my brother and my cousins. Then my mom, my grandma, grandpa and my aunts and uncles eat. Then I get to go home wait until the morning. Then I open my gifts at my house. Then I go eat cereal. I have some hot cocoa and watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Then I had a beautiful Christmas day. Maddox Lantz Christmas to me is my family gets together. I love the cookies that Brylie, my twin sister and me also my grandma. I like when we put the Christmas tree up with my family and put the ornaments on. I think of my family and friends on Christmas. I also think of going to different places like my grandma and grandpa. I love building snow forts on Christmas. I get to see my cousins I haven’t seen in awhile on Christmas. That’s what Christmas mean to me. Bailey Hansen
When someone asks me what Christmas means to me, I think about when my family gathers up at my grandma’s house and opens presents as one whole big family at the end of the day. Let’s start at the beginning of the day. Okay? At the beginning of the day, I wake up way earlier then my parents, so I have to wait for them. When they get up, we start to open the little presents irst. Then we work our way up to the big presents. On our way to the big presents each one we open my mom has to take a picture. After that we go to donate some clothes of my brothers, moms, dads and some of mine that does not it any more. Then my grandma meets us over at the Catholic Church in Ida Grove. To celebrate baby Jesus’s birthday and get blessed by my holy, loving God. Which takes two hours to do. To me it is boring and it takes forever to get done. Then we go home to check on the Christmas tree because my cats like to chew on the tree. Sometimes we even put up a real pine tree, so then my cats learn not to chew on the tree. If the stuff falls off the tree and breaks we have extras in a tub that is about two feet tall and three feet long… always prepared. This is what Christmas means to me. Adam Delong What Christmas means to me. First, the food…we have mashed potatoes, gravy, smashed cranberries, corn, steak, green beans and more. Second, I think of Jesus’s birth. Third, there is a lot of presents. We have a tradition where we go to my grandparents house and we have a big feast and play a reindeer game. The game is where my Grandpa Doug has reindeer ears on and we have rings and try to throw the rings at the ears. Two years ago my older sister, Ellie, won a TV. Last year, I won those TV’s that can hook on the back of the seat in the car. I also have an elf on the shelf. His name is Ralphie. One time, Ralphie made cookies and I took them to dance to eat and he made a gigantic mess. Christmas is a fun to spend time with friends and family…. and Ralphie. Malia Lansink When I think of Christmas I think of spending time with family, opening presents, and eating Christmas cookies. Playing Christmas games and watching
Christmas movies are other things we do at Christmas time. We go and play in the snow. We build snow castles, and we have snow ball ights. And that is what we do at Christmas. Garrett Van Houten You may know what Christmas means to you, but do you know what Christmas means to other people? For example, people like me. Here’s what Christmas means to me. What I like about Christmas most is having a snowball ight with my siblings. I have a gigantic ridge that gets covered in snow. Once I went up to the Godbersen’s place and played there. They had four different snow forts. One was a rectangular snow mountain. Another was a cone-shaped snow mountain. One had a lag, was a cave, but it collapsed. The last one was a circular wall with a arch in it. I feel thankful for Jesus being born; otherwise we would all be dead because of sinning. I also want to go Christmas caroling, but my mom won’t let me. That’s what Christmas means to me, what’s it mean to you? Matthew Todd What does Christmas mean to you? Christmas is the coldest and the one that gets to your heart and the one you love the most. My favorite time at Christmas is the feast. Also the present opening with each other is the best. The feast is the best because you can tell every one what happened this year and you can enjoy the food. My aunt makes the best feast. Sometimes we go outside and have a sliding race and make a snow fort. I like watching my dog because he does not know what snow is so he eats it. It is my favorite time of year. My brother and I play hide and seek. He always wins because he buries himself in the snow. I ind him because I accidentally step on him. Carson, my brother, is almost seven years old This Christmas is going to be the best because I have a new baby sister now that I love her more then my brother, but we are all family Colton Boysen Christmas means a lot to me. Christmas reminds me
of the birth of Jesus. It means to have fun with friends and family. You get to celebrate the greatest traditions you’ve ever experienced. Our family has our own tradition. We all gather around at my Aunt Amy’s house. We open all the presents in name order, which is ABC order. I think that Christmas is a special day when you get to laugh, give presents and celebrate Jesus’s birth with family. Christmas is one jolly day. Addison Henry What Christmas means to me loving God and thinking about Jesus’s birth. Snowflakes are wonderful in the wintertime. Presents are lovely. Cookies are yummy and delicious. Santa is jolly and his belly is like Jell-O. Candy is fun to eat. The reindeer are friendly. My family is loving. Merry Christmas. Hunter Wessel What does Christmas mean to me? Well, you can get together with your family, bond and talk about things. It’s also Jesus’s birthday on Christmas Eve. Your family is being nice and they feed you. You can give gifts to your family. You can also get gifts from your family. On Christmas, some people bring gifts to charity to give to kids and people that don’t have any homes. On Christmas my family and I all get together and celebrate. We have a big feast in the middle of the day. Then, my cousins and I play downstairs in the basement. I really enjoy Christmas. Kylee O’Brien My family and I play a lot of fun games on Christmas day. My family and I and we eat a Christmas breakfast stockings at home we also do our presents too. Then that night we go to grandmas and do our stockings there too. Then we have a nice dinner at their house. Then us kids go have fun in the snow. Then we all open the real presents. At nanas we all get to play around. Then we get to play with our presents they are always good. I wish it were close to Christmas. We also have to go to the church and sing a song it
is a Christmas song there too. The church gives us pie after that to. My dad and I also go ice fishing with my cousin Riley and her dad. Our tradition is we always going to flippers house, which is my Grandpa and light bulb, is my grandmas. Mom, dad, Jager and me go cut down a tree. When we get home we put ornaments on the tree. Jager, Riley, Karlye and Allie play some games of roll the ball. Some of them are bored games too. All of us have an amazing time at grandma’s house we have a lot of fun memories at grandma’s house too It is a lot of fun in the basement. We all have a lot of amazing time is a good day on Christmas. Allie Lund The best part about this Christmas is that we get to celebrate God`s birthday. We get new XBox 360 games. My family and I have the best time at Christmas. Brady Watkins What Christmas really means to me is when we have a Christmas feast with my cousins. We have turkey and a little bit of leftover thanksgiving. Snow forts at my house are huge. They have an inside and a wall that’s underground. We even have a snowball fight. Sometimes my neighbor comes over and makes two snow forts. Every other year we go to Seattle for Christmas. We stay for five days. Sometimes we go to a cabin before Christmas Eve. This is what Christmas means to me. Byron Godbersen What Christmas means to me is building forts with my sister and brother. Also it means going out with my family and getting presents. Also making snow angles. Also having snowball fights with my brother. Also decorating the tree. Also buying clothes for me. Also playing football with my brother. Also sledding at my grandma’s with my sister. Also playing with my cat at my grandma’s. Also playing with my dog. And putting stove on the tree. Kaeley Wunschel

The story of Christmas From time to time, as Christmas approaches, I love to pull out one of my sons’ board books and read it to them. The book, written by Joseph Slate, entitled “Who is Coming To Our House? gives a glimpse of what happened in the barn over 2,000 years ago. “Who is coming to our house? “Someone, someone, says Mouse. Who is that someone? As Christmas approaches just a few short days ahead, I’ll recite Matthew 1:18-2:12 of the New International Version. This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother, Mary, was pledged to be married to Joseph, but, before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph, her husband, was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But, after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to ful ill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel--which means, “God with us. When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But, he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And, he gave him the name Jesus. After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him. When King Herod heard this, he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the
Christ was to be born. “In Bethlehem, in Judea, they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: “’But, you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.’ Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you ind him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him. After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. And, having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route. When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up, he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him. So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was ful illed what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt, I called my son. When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. Then, what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was ful illed: “A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.

After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead. So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. But, when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father, Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was ful illed what was said through the prophets: “He will be called a Nazarene. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you, our loyal readers. My family and I would like to wish you nothing but the best of health and good will in 2017. Ryan L. Harvey, of Hampton, is the president and CEO for MidAmerica Publishing Corporation.
