Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is a oddball romantic comedy. Gambler Nathan Detroit (Stephen Stangl) tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps games in town, while the authorities breath down his neck. Meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide (Carrie Miller), laments that they've been engaged for 14 years. De-

troit turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson (Ethan Ernst), for the dough and Sky ends up chasing the straightlaced missionary, Sarah Brown (Alyssa Mason), as the result. Guys and Dolls takes viewers from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but, eventually, everyone ends up right where they belong.

Aging movie star Betty Crawford once led a glamorous life on the red carpet, surrounded by reporters, movie producers and directors vying for her attention. Everyone wanted to rub elbows with her. But these days, she lives alone with her maid and rest is only a memory... and a series of hysterical tongue-in-cheek lashbacks. Wouldn’t you know, when Crawford revises her will, suddenly everyone in her life, both past and present, just happens to show up for a “social call?” Crawford ends up murdered in her living room,

conked on the head with a heavy object. Curiously (and hysterically), every visitor just happens to be holding a different type of heavy object... the potential murder weapon. When a library cop shows up to present a citation for a book that’s years overdue, he decides he’s practically like law enforcement, so he puts the clues together to help solve the mystery of the murdered movie star. With fast paced dialogue and three sets of twins (each pair cleverly written to be played by the same actor), this murder mystery farce is full of fun and intrigue.

It’s the corniest play this side of the Mississippi, whichever side you're on. Puns keep popping up in this wacky melodrama like a Jiffy Pop ready to explode. Pop (Connor Pickhinke) and Ma (Destiny Van Beek) Kornwell, along with their adopted daughter Little Sweet Pea (Kyra Martin), are beside themselves with worry. Colonel Kernal's (Katrina Van Norman) corn ields are inexplicably drying up, so they have no corn for their recipes at the Corn Café. To make matters worse, the new banker in town, Ira Fuse (Andrew Snyder), is demanding payment on their late mortgage.

Lucky for them, Major Max Major (Trentin Moeller) comes to town scouting a new location for a military fort. Building the fort in Cornville would be a huge boon for Corn Café and General General's General Store (and especially for the lovestruck Little Sweet Pea), but it won't happen unless they can solve the problem with the water shortage. Besides eye-rolling at all the puns, laughter ensues at the climactic corncob eating duel between Major Major and Ira Fuse that exposes the villain for the river-diverting cad he really is. Ah, shucks.
