Joe Avati - When I Was Your Age

In Joe Avati’s new show, which took out the 2024 Australian Comedy Show of the Year, he asks you to leave your political correctness at the door as he delivers his hilarious insights on how times have changed, for better or worse, since he grew up as a teenager in the 80’s.

Internationally renowned for his inimitable style Avati, who was recently crowned Australian Comedian of the Year 2024, is a master of treading the very fine line saying what everyone seems to think but no one dares to say whilst not resorting to the use of profanities or vulgar shock tactic routines in doing so.

In his latest offering WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE… he tackles the ‘then versus now’

generational differences of today’s kids, the complexities of modern day parenting compared to the strict upbringing of yesteryear and threaded throughout all of this he tackles the minefield of cancel culture, the woke brigade and why people are over political correctness. His observations are not only deadly accurate but extremely relatable to all ages.

This is a show for all the family. Bring your parents to highlight how much they have changed since they were your age, bring your friends to laugh and reminisce about growing up as teenagers when you were that age and most importantly bring your kids so that they know what you went through “when I was your age…” .

A Belvoir Street Production Presented by MidCoast Council

Massive artificial reefs, Mirror clouds. Zombie mice.

It’s 65 short scenes – comic, tragic, and everything in between. Jam-packed with information, humanity and truth, but never wagging its finger in your face. Scenes From The Climate Era is a play about now. About the choices we made yesterday, and the difficult beauty of tomorrow.

A frog, the last of its species, starts calling for a mate, but there’s no-one to hear.

A group of friends reminisce about the last time they took a flight, before all that came to an end.

Landholders in Borneo confront western environmentalists over who owns the forest.

A scientist is coached on how to speak to the media in digestible soundbites.

This unique play investigates how we deal with big, breathtaking ideas – and the crazy excitement of living in hope.

“ It was terrific: utterly important and utterly thought through to transform the information and the complexity of the issue into a truly theatrical piece”

Audience Review

“ This is theatre doing what it was made to do. An invigoratingly honest portrayal of what it’s like to engage with climate change conversations (and be alive!) Right this second”

110% Ready - The Listies

Presented by MidCoast Council

In this show The Listies perform a miracle! 110% Ready sees Rich and Matt do something no family in Australia has ever done before: LEAVE THE HOUSE ON TIME!

Well, that’s what Rich thinks anyway. Matt on the other hand has a different plan. He may or may not have accidentally flushed the car keys down the toilet.

Featuring a pocketful of puns, silly slapstick sight gags, and a splash of improvisational idiocy, 110% Ready sees Melbourne’s masters of mirth do what they do best for 55 solid minutes of full family lols.

This brand-new show is all about the joys of the average morning routine: sleeping through the alarm, not having any milk, fishing dirty clothes out of the hamper, burning the toast, and then finding the front door is glued shut, the shower won’t switch off, and the house is filling with water.

Dedicated to anyone who has ever been in charge of someone who is impossible to get out the front door in the am.

“ Nobody else does kids comedy this brilliantly, what’s more astounding is that adults have just as much fun”
