THIS Diwali, look at your wardrobe differently. In order to create a new look, you may not need to go for a complete overhaul. Perhaps, all you need is some fresh perspective. Here's how you can shop better (and wiser!): If you want to dress up traditionally, pick up silk weaves paired with banarasi blouses. Kanjeevarams are hot this year. JUST CAN’T RESIST

MICROWAVE CARROT LADOOS BAKED RASGULLAS INGREDIENTS 8 Rasgullas , cut into halves 1 cup low fat paneer (cottage cheese) 1/4 cup low fat milk 2 tbsp sugar substitute 1 tsp corn flour dissolved in 2 tsp water A few saffron strands dissolved in 1 tsp water A pinch of cinnamon (dalchini) powder METHOD 1. Soak the rasgullas in water for around one minute, drain and remove the water.

2. Repeat step 1 for 4 to 5 times till all the sugar syrup has been removed from the rasgullas and keep aside. 3. Mix together the paneer, milk, sugar substitute, corn flour mixture, saffron and cardamom powder and blend to a smooth paste in a mixer. 4. Keep aside. 5. Arrange the rasgullas in a rectangular glass baking dish and pour the paneer mixture on top. 6. Bake it in a pre-heated oven at 150º C (300º F) for 5 minutes. 7. Now you are ready to serve!

INGREDIENTS 1 cup grated carrot; ½ cup ricotta cheese; 1 tablespoon butter ½ cup condensed milk (fat free); 2 teaspoons sugar 4 tsps MTR Badam Feast (or substitute with 2 tablespoon milk powder, sugar, cardamom); 5-6 chopped almonds; raisins METHOD 1. Place the butter in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 15 to 20 seconds. 2. Add the grated carrots mix well and microwave for 2 minutes, until the raw smell of carrot goes away. 3. Add the ricotta cheese, condensed milk, sugar. Mix well and keep it in the microwave for about 3 minutes. 4. Next add the badam powder, chopped almonds and microwave for another 3 minutes or until done. 5. Let it cool a bit and then make a ball out of it. 6. Place a raisin in the middle of each ball. This makes about 7 medium ladoos.

CHOC0-CRANBERRY BAKE

BAKED RAWA HALWA

INGREDIENTS 4 cored Rome apple; 1/4 cup dried cranberries; 1 1/2 cups cranberry juice cocktail 1/4 cup maple syrup; 1 tbsp firmly packed light brown sugar; 1 tbsp chopped pecans 1 tbsp shaved white chocolate; 1/2 tbsp lemon juice; 1 tsp grated fresh ginger 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon; 1/2 tsp cornstarch; 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

INGREDIENTS 2 cup rawa; 2 cup milk; 1 cup sugar; 2 tsp cardamom powder 1 tbsp grated coconut; 2 tbsp cashew nuts; 1 tbsp raisins 4 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)

METHOD 1. Preheat the oven at 375 degree F. 2. In a bowl, combine the cranberry juice, maple syrup, brown sugar, lime juice, ginger, cinnamon, cornstarch and vanilla, stir until well blended. 3. Peel top half of each apple and place in a shallow roasting pan. 4. Fill the centers of apples evenly with cranberries and pecans. 5. Pour the cranberry-maple mixture over apples and bake for 25-30 minutes by basting with the syrup for twice until gets tender. 6. Sprinkle the remaining syrup and add the white chocolate

METHOD 1. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan, add the cashew nuts, roast for 2 minutes and keep aside. 2. Heat the remaining in the pan, add the rawa and roast for 3-4 minutes until the mixture is light brown in colour. 3. In a bowl, add the milk, sugar, cardamom powder, coconut, roasted rawa and mix well. 4. Pour the above ingredients in a greased pie-dish. 5. Sprinkle the cashew nuts and raisins on the top. 6. Bake in 250 degree for 30-40 minutes until turns to golden colour.
