LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR Dear Parents and Supporters, What a joy it has been to adjust our COVID-19 protocols for more normal community life at Midland University! While we remain observant of COVID-19, we have relaxed the mandatory masking policy and are loving the ability to see our students’ smiles again! We are looking forward to students returning to campus on Monday after a well-deserved spring break for them. Due to COVID-19 this is our first “normal” spring break in three years. With only 8 weeks left in the spring semester, there are some important things for you to discuss with your student. Fall 2022 Class Registration: Seniors, Juniors, and Honors students’ registration dates are February 28th-March 18th Sophomores registration dates are March 21st-April 1st Freshmen registration dates are April 4th-April 29th

Fall 2022 Housing: Housing renewal information has been sent out to all students to start planning for next year. Students have until March 21st to apply. Then they will need to attend the Housing Renewal Event on March 30th to select their housing assignment. If your student is talking to you about living off-campus next year, please make sure you are aware of our housing policies and requirements.

Spring 2022 Hall Closing: The residence halls close at noon on Saturday, May 7th. All students must be checked out by noon on Saturday unless they are graduating on May 7th or working for Midland University over the summer.

Before COVID-19, some of the things our mental health counselor saw college students struggling with was anxiety, depression, grief, and motivation. Those things haven’t changed. But now they are seeing added stressors. Midland is proud to announce in addition to our Director of Student Counseling, Kelli Slagle (whose office is located on the 3rd floor of the Olson Student Center), we have expanded our services! Students now have free, unlimited access to therapists+ on-demand crisis counseling. Getting started is easy. Students register at: thevirtualcaregroup.com/Midland. Next week we are going to see some beautiful spring-like temperatures in Nebraska. Soon we will hear birds chirping, the grass turning green, trees and flowers blooming, and students utilizing outdoor spaces to study, play basketball, and sand volleyball. All of this leads us up to our biggest student event that our office hosts each year which is Student Appreciation Day. The day is a surprise to students. They will be taken around campus on golf carts, there will be food, games, prizes and so much more. Many of our faculty and staff partake in this very fun day to show our students how much we appreciate them. You are our partners in helping ensure your student’s success at Midland! Please never leave a question unanswered. We are just an email away at studentaffairs@midlandu.edu. Encourage your student to finish these next 8 weeks strong. Send them a note, care package or Venmo a little money for a coffee to let them know you are thinking about them and supporting them on their college journey. Best, Kris Dvorak Director of Student & Resident Services
