Injury: Crush injury

Cause: Backed up over her legs with a

Diagnosis: No broken bones

Treatment: Lots of rest and more treats

Patient's Story:

Suzie, our Great Pyrenees, was a year old when we ran her over with the IH 766 tractor. She liked to go with us to feed silage and the older cows were not enamored with her. Trotting beside the tractor, Suzie was being harassed by these cows. Seeking refuge under the tractor is never a good idea. As the back tire runs her over, we hear a "yelp" - my husband doesn't know whether to back up or keep moving forward. He backed up. Fearing the worst on the hard, frozen ground, a vet inspection revealed no broken bones. She limped on her front leg for six weeks, then she was good as new. She is four years old now and still likes to boss the cows. They still don't like her!
