+INJURY OF THE MONTH+
Jon Bouma isn‘t new to prepping Steer calves. He’s been clipping, washing, blowing, and everything else to get his cattle picture ready for over 20 years. But then last week, he just applied mousse and was starting to comb when a steer jumped and kicked into his forehead. The calf was in a chute, “but I probably wasn’t holding the tail” Jon said. His son Teagan was on the other side and didn’t see his Dad get hit, but he did see all of the blood flowing from his Dad‘s forehead. Teagan then calmly asked if he should get the first aid kit. Jon admits he sat down for a half hour at one point as he was feeling dizzy, but eventually he went back to work like a good cowboy does. Careful out there! But in case you weren‘t being as careful as you should have been, we‘d like to hear about it. Send your photo/story to Injury@ABPmag.com
