3What’s your favourite AV logo? I’m impartial to the #AvinTheAm logo that I designed. 4

Are you team dog/team cat/ team lizard? I’m team dog. We rescued my dog Molly 10 years ago from a kill shelter. I can’t imagine life and especially quarantine without her.

What do you run on, coffee, pizza, fumes, or tea? I run on a mix of coffee, pizza and sugar free soda.

Share your biggest WFH fail… or win My biggest work from home win was discovering that improving my camera, lighting and background helped me stand out on video calls full of “good enough” tech.
What is your current role in AV? I am the Market Development Manger for Starin. I spend time with both marketing and sales teams.
Do you prefer working from home or working from the office? I prefer working from home, I’m more productive.
9What’s the hardest part about working virtually for you? The hardest part of working virtually over the past 2 years has been not seeing folks and tech in-person. 10 What’s the easiest part about working virtually for you? The easiest part was transitioning my online presence to a virtual presence. I think I was better prepared than most for the virtual world.
11 Where do you find your AV news? I find all my news and Industry “scoop” online and through my network of friends. 12 Who is another AV ‘influencer’ that people should know of and be following? I follow Mark Coxon, Joe Way and Tim Albright.
13 What do you like more, regional, or large trade shows? I prefer large trade shows because I like to plan and have everything scheduled that I want to see. 14 If you weren’t in AV, what would you be doing instead? I’d probably be trying to find work in TV production.

How did you start in AV? A friend’s company was hiring technicians to install videoconferencing systems. I didn’t know what VTC was, but I was hired because I knew what a BNC cable was.

What has been your best moment, since you’ve joined AV? Winning awards are great, but I’ve truly have had a fun time co-hosting the AV Magazine AV Awards shows.

What is your most memorable moment at an AV event? I’m always shocked when someone recognises me at a tradeshow or event. When you create content, you hope that someone finds value in it and there is no better feeling than finding someone who did find that value.
19 What would be your AV superhero name? I’d be “The NETwOk”. I love to yell AV-engers assemble.

Recommend one training course that you found valuable? I recently took an online photography class. It helped me understand and talk about cameras, lighting, composition, and camera angles so much better.
20 How do you explain (in one sentence) what you do for a living to your family? 20 years in AV and my mom finally knows what I do… I make Zoom calls all day.
21 Yay or nay: metaverse? Yay but a few years away.
23 What is your favourite AV podcast? Midwich Live and AVNation’s AVweek.
25 What’s the weirdest term or expression you have heard in AV? By far the hardest one to explain to non-AV people is “Near End/Far End” especially with a mute button next to it. Instant chaos. Am I muted, or are they?
27 What was the first piece of AV you geeked out about? I was blown away with 5.1 stereo. Wow did I spend a small fortune to recreate a theatre in my living room back then.

What’s your VC platform of choice? 30 What’s one thing on your desk set-up that you wouldn’t be able to live without
Zoom, so easy my mom uses it. 22 AV choose me. I needed a job and Why did you choose a career in AV, or did AV choose you? friend who also fell into AV made me an offer after graduating college.

What note or piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
Enjoy the ride, but make sure to slow down and enjoy life.
26 What do you consider the holy grail of installations? I would say a theme park or a grand projection mapping.

Is there one feature that you’ve seen on a product that you thought was amazing? The use of AI and machine learning in cameras is fascinating.
My dual 32” monitors. I love having the extended desktop.
