It seems like yesterday when we released our first newsletter and we're in the publication of the number 50. Overall, we have included more than 1,500 articles that, mostly related news insertábamos glass. From the beginning, our concern has been to spread the image of the Museum of Art Glass Alcorcon (MAVA) for all artistic fields worldwide. Recently in Feriarte 2012, we discussed with some of the most important representatives of the galleries that have come to the Fair our membership to the Friends of MAVA and have been surprised by the existence of a museum of its kind in the Community of Madrid . Apart from loving his work he also fell in love with Ulrica Hydman, a student of ceramics, a grade or two below him, whom he eventually married. Soon after leaving Konstfack, Vallien heard of a small ceramics company in Los Angeles who were looking for a young Swedish designer to help in the enterprise. He set sail forthwith and joined the HAL Fromholt Ceramics company, which was a small factory, owned by an artist who designed the largely craft-based products.
Bertil Vallien was born in 1938, in the small suburb of Sollentuna, to the north of Stockholm.

After finishing elementary schooling, Bertil worked for a while as an apprentice in his father's decorating firm.
In 1955, he was accepted by the Ceramics department at Konstfack for a two-year foundation course, which was followed up by two years at the School for advanced Industrial Design (HKS/SAID).
Later a schoolteacher, who also ran a business-school, encouraged him to attend for half a year; and then he went on to Borgarskolan polytechnic, where he did a commercial course. At the same time he worked as a window-dresser; and also attended evening classes in Life

Bertil proceeded to design new models, swiftly becoming an invaluable asset to production. He had his own studio and was able to devote a few days of each week to the factory work and the rest to his own personal work. He was, as yet, incognisant of the growing movement in studio-glass and for the moment, there was no thought of glass-designing in his head. Eventually, he received a suggestion from C.H. Åfors back home: that he would come and design at the Åfors glass-factory. This was one of his main reasons for returning to Sweden. Our web

Rick Eggert was born in Southampton, New York in 1974. He grew up there and in Vermont, where he began working in glass. His quest for inner growth has led him to Tahiti, Moorea, New Zealand, Australia, and Thailand. Rick has also spent time working in Korea as an English teacher and in Puerto Rico as the operational manager of
an entertainment company in the rainforest. Rick’s background includes a BFA in Glass Sculpture from The Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York and numerous years working as a technician for various schools and businesses across the eastern United States. Rick now resides in Stuart, Florida where he operates his glass stu-

My works usually involve some type of progression or graduation. The time element is typically expressed as “frozen time” or stages of time. Because these sculptures are made up of multiple elements, issues of interrelationships are brought up as well. It is also the goal to maintain a certain fluidity throughout all the works. The trapped air problem we will find many times when working with inclusions. The Spanish Foundation for Innovation of Crafts (Fundesarte) opened at its headquarters in Madrid the exhibition "Hatching, life in glass", a show about Crling products!, The new contemporary brand of the company J. Glass Crafts in Valencia Sorribes, and which have helped a teacher and four students from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. The exhibit "Hatching, life in glass!" meets up to 45 pieces made of glass with which it has launched the new brand "Crling! Sorribes by Sara", born of cooperation between the company J. Glass Crafts Sorribes and a team of designers led by Professor of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Manuel Martinez Toran, along with the collaboration of the universities of Valencia and Mexico.

He has worked with various artists, architects, craftsmen and designers, highlighting the figure of Ricardo Calero or restoring the "Baños del Almirante" (Valencia). Meanwhile, Manolo Martínez Toran is professor of industrial design at the Polytechnic University of Valencia and coordinator of design and product development (DidLab), the Institute of Design and Manufacturing (IDF). He has also participated in two European projects with universities and companies in different countries and has developed his work as a teacher in various institutions and associations, making stays in Argentina (2002), Mexico (2006 and 2007) and Chile (2011 and 2012). He has been awarded the "foresight" in Valencia (2010), as well as Fundesarte Research Grant (2011) prospectively on design and craftsmanship. The exhibition will be open until January 11, 2013 in General Zabala Street, No. 12, of Madrid, at the following times: Monday to Thursday from 9.00 to 18.00 and Friday from 8.00 to 15.00. The next few days 10, 11 and 12 December, Pilar Aldana given a glass sculpture course in time from 16 to 21 h. A total of 15 hours. The price of the course, including materials is 150 â‚Ź and plans a maximum of 15 students. The course opens up teaching the art of casting steps to develop special molds to make solid glass sculptures. Achieving a good mold is key to getting a good glass sculpture. The mold is the empty space that direct the movements of the glass and give shape.

The training program began on November 1, 2011 and represents the continuation of another previous workshop training courses that combined professional practice in various techniques and specialty glass and reconstruction of the call 'water cooler'.
