NERJA: SOUTH OF SOUTH EUROPE looks towards the South across the lands of Andalucía, where the days only exist because God sowed the Light. EUROPE has a Balcony above the waves of the Sea South of South, where its heart is ignited. EUROPE, Eden that looks over and leans out to Sea The Balcón de Europa is NERJA, a bride in love with the Sun… Isabel Jurado M.

GREETINGS FROM THE MAYOR Dear Residents, It’s already been a whole year since the last Nerja Feria! A feria that draws all of us in Nerja together as one truly united town, living and sharing common values, such as the welcome we give visitors with our broad smiles and our outstretched arms. By day and by night, with friends and family, everyone comes in search of the same thing - to have a good time, which is what an annual fair is all about. To laugh, dance and sing. Preparations have been going on over many months for the next few days, which are packed with activities for everybody so that the people of Nerja, a happy and tolerant town, can join together in what it undoubtedly our biggest party of the year. As Mayor of Nerja I hope that all your expectations for the fair are met and I encourage you to take full advantage of this October’s feria, where a feeling of happiness and peace ought to prevail. Please spare a thought as well for those who cannot be with us for whatever reason. Lastly, I want to thank every individual, association and business that has given up some of their time, in one way or another, to ensure that these next few days are unforgettable for everyone. As well as thanking the great work of our town hall operations department, the local police and the civil protection team. Enjoy the Feria. Viva the Nerja Feria! Your mayor Rosa María Arrabal Téllez

GREETINGS FROM THE COUNCIL MEMBER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FERIA

Friends of Nerja Nerja’s happiest month has arrived - October, full of dance, music, socialising and excitement. This time of year is eagerly awaited by residents as our streets come alive with colour, and the happiness in the air sweeps us along and has everyone hitting the streets to have a good time, which is after all the aim of any feria. Over the six days of the fair one of the most important aspects of our local character will be on display. Nerja people are very hospitable to everyone who visits us. It will be a special few days, when our streets will be buzzing and we’ll be dressing up for the party with our broadest smile. Everyone will be welcomed as if they were a member of our community, as any resident of Nerja would be. Nerja Feria brings unforgettable experiences for residents and visitors alike. This is down to the yearlong commitment of this department and the town’s festival commission to work side by side to make our feria the best. A feria full of things to do and events with something for everyone to enjoy. And without further ado, while we spare a thought for our loved ones that are no longer with us or who are unable to be here, I want to invite everyone to take part in and enjoy Nerja’s biggest party of the year. Wishing you a happy 2017 Feria! Councillor for the Festival Sara Rivas
