Hipica Development 67
Invited by Tishman-Speyer we developed a concept for a mixeduse development in Sao Paulo comprised of 4 Residential Buildings, Office Tower and a mall. This project is supposed to be a reference development on a derelict yet noble part of the city and is designed to pay homage to the Equestrian club next door.

RATIONAL CAMPUS LAYOUT: OFFICE+LABS
The bar and the perimiter block fulfill the organizational demand of the campus. The layout and HEIGHTS/ building depth of these two typologies is arranged as requestedMAXIMUM – one centralCORE corridor with one module (nearly a square of 34m2) on each side. As the office area is the vast majority of the campus program, the office layout is the main structuring element that defines the masterplan and building typologies, designed from inside out.
SHORTCUTS
despite ideal for the office area, at the ground level this rational footprint would create narrow and intricate streets. Instead, we propose to insert a new logic on the ground level, one tailored to the people flow and usage of the public space. We connect the two main entrances with a shortcut diagonal zig-zag path, creating the shortest distance between 2 points in each area of the campus.
CENTRAL SPACE WIDENING
As the perimeter blocks footprint is cut by the human circulation shortcut path, the ground level creates open areas for generous plazas. It creates two triangular plazas, one at each entrance, and one main larger square at the very center of the campus – this main square becomes the main gathering area of the campus.
TEVA Campus, R&D Building Science & Technology
INTROdUCTION LOCAL ROOTS - GLOBAL BRANCHES
Working alongside BIG architects, Perkins+will was hired because of its extensive lab experience to produce a state of the art Research and Development building for one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world. COURTYARDS INTEGRATION
The same short-cut path creates intersections with the previously defined courtyards. Rather than having enclosed courtyards, this opens up these spaces to become an extension of the shared spaces, becoming all one single open public space with different levels of privacy. At the central plaza, the merge of the main plaza with the courtyards creates a rectangular shaped area that allows the space to gather simultaneously all the 3000 employees in the campus.
MERGE OF TWO LOGICS: RATIONAL ORGANIZATION + CIRCULATION
ENTRANCES CANOPIES AND STREETS WIDENING
We propose that the campus becomes the merge of 2 logics: the logic of a pragmatic masterplan Lastly, the two main entrances are enhances by setting back the geometry and inviting people above (at roof level) + the logic of pedestrian circulation (at ground level). into the campus at these moments. At west, the main public entrance, the entire façade leads into It is the merge of these two logics that creates the architecture and thus the spatial qualities of the the main entrance, creating a lower canopy that protects over the entrance plaza. At east, the HQ MAXIMUM CORE HEIGHTS/ campus, with large canopies that embrace, shade and shelter the public realm. tower also creates a setback - the business entrance. Taller and impressive, the façade moves in and creates the HQ tower lobby entrance. Additionally, the north and south streets are widened at the bottom, improving area for cross ventilation and views outwards, while preserving the campus security intact with main campus access limited to the east-west entrances only. Villa in Brienno, Italy Residential Development Small development project on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. The Project consisted in rebuilding a traditional Italian villa, inspired by the local architecture and designed to maximize the dialogue with the lake. Due to the extreme dimensions of the plot, the house recreates a traditional functional diagram of a traditional Italian villa in a vertical orientation. The stair/lift core assumes the distributing functions of a traditional lobby. Each floor is then a platform leading to the theatrical views of the lake.

Land of Honey, Nigeria Housing concept Invited by London’s HKR Architects, authors of the masterplan, S+A designed the housing concepts for high-end townhouses, semi-detached villas, detached villas, mansions and perimeter block apartments. The design concept followed the intention to introduce a luxury contemporary tropicalism in Nigeria. The functional housing diagram followed the Islamic ways of separating the social living rooms and reception areas from the private and familiar areas. The perimeter block apartments were more european oriented flat with a more conventional layout.

Hotel Abidjan, Ivory Coast Hotel Proposal for a hotel, congress centre and shopping mall in Abidjan. The proposal is a simple podium + tower typology. The podium included the shopping mall with shared lobby areas with the congress centre. The tower is composed by 15 floors dedicated to the hotel with a triple height skybar at the top. The architectural approach was to create a contemporary iconic piece, highly efficient in terms of space layout, that will serve as a landmark to the city.

The construction was intended to be based on blockwork cladded with the Cappotto Wall System, added with top end sliding glazing panels. The design was inspired by the “L-Type” villas, common on the contemporary brazilian tropicalism.

This typology promotes the opportunity for all the rooms to face the pool. That relationship is enhanced by the slim-lined sliding glazing panels that would fill the rooms top to bottom.

Cova da Moura, Portugal Competition Proposal for the nationwide inter-university competition suggested by the Lisbon’s Architecture Triennale. The competition consisted in developing key architectural proposals that would improve life in one of Lisbon’s most problematic neighborhoods. The proposal is a response to the reasons that we identified as causing the ghetto effect. We tried to dissipate the barriers, visible and invisible, that would push people away, making it into an inviting and safe neighborhood. The main strategy was to develop on the local community a sense of passion for their neighborhood, by identifying the positives and improving them, and therefore start a snowball effect that would positively change the neighborhood and the mentalities of the people living in it.

1. Remove old school and rearrange the plaza as a community gathering space. 2. Rebuild a new school following the same principle of classroom + community gathering space. 3. Rearrange the areas surrounding the neighborhood to invite people in. The rest of the neighborhood should be kept as much as it is in order to develop maintained and developed by the locals as it has ever happened.

Cova da Moura, Portugal Competition The New School The school is a recreation of the natural housing density created by the locals, original builders of the neighborhood. The layout is a repetition of a classroom-patio units that due to its insertion on the existing landscape recreates the randomness of the neighborhood. The patio would help generating on children the sense of community expected to be seen in the big plaza. The Big Plaza The big plaza is generated by the existing paths. These will lead to a central multipurpose space for community gatherings. The sides will held a graffiti dedicated wall, a small chapel and leisure centre. This plaza would held all of the communitie’s activities and celebrations, gathering the entire community in one place.
