“Wildflower Jeans” Why spend hundreds of dollars on designer embroidered jeans when it’s so easy to do it yourself? All you’ll need is an embroidery machine and your favorite pair of jeans! Created by: Kelly Laws, Marketing Project Manager
Supplies: Baby Lock Sewing and Embroidery Machine Floral embroidery design * Favorite pair of jeans All-purpose thread to match jeans topstitching Assorted colors of embroidery thread Cut-Away Soft stabilizer (BLC201) Machine Embroidery Spray adhesive Lorna Decorative Wand Hot-fix crystals Seam ripper
Instructions: 1. Pre-shrink, wash, dry, and press jeans to remove excess manufacturing dye and sizing. 2. Use the seam ripper to carefully open the inside leg seam. Make sure to carefully note how the seam is sewn, this will help you re-close the leg seam later. Note: You will need to open the seam farther than you plan to embroider to allow the leg to lay flat. 3. Attach the embroidery arm to the machine and turn it on. Select embroidery mode. 4. Transfer or select your flower design. 5. Hoop the cut-away stabilizer; lightly spray the stabilizer with spray adhesive. 6. Position the area to be embroidered of the jeans over the hoop and press it down to the stabilizer. 7. Place hoop with the jeans on machine. 8. Using the arrow keys and the trial function (refer to your owner’s manual for assistance), position the design as desired. 9. Embroider the design using your preference of embroidery thread colors. 10. When the embroidery is complete remove the hoop from the machine. Then remove any excess stabilizer from the reverse side of the napkin. 11. Repeat the process to continue the flower design up the leg of the jeans. 12. Once you have completed your embroidery designs, set your machine up for straight sewing. 13. Thread the machine with the thread that matches the topstitching. 14. Re-stitch the inside leg seam, and topstitching. 15. Plug in the Decorative Wand allowing it to heat up. Following the manufacturer’s directions on the decorative wand and on the crystals package accent your embroidery and adorn your jeans with crystals.
* We used flower #2 built-in design from the Baby Lock Ellegante. We also used Designer’s Gallery CustomWorks to add color changes and split the design into a smaller flower design.
