The year seems to have gone by at a dizzying pace and here we are now approaching the merriest time of the year. If I had one wish for Christmas, it would be that Filipinos everywhere will become enamored by the captivating beauty and spirit of our country. I first fell in love with the Philippines as a 12 year old dipping her toes for the first time in Boracay sand then marveling at the sites of Cebu, Dumaguete and Bukidnon. The beauty of the Philippines and our culture are on full display just outside Metro Manila. As I grew up, I found more reasons to fully embrace the Philippines, chief of which is the heroic spirit of our people. I’ve encountered so many inspiring citizens both on the global stage and in the streets — presidents, mayors, NGO workers, sorbeteros, taxi drivers and kasambahays all hopefully persevering to build a better life not only for themselves and their families but for the bigger community. Oftentimes, it’s so easy to see the fly on the paper but knowing that God made me a Filipino for a reason is enough for me to always find reasons to love the country of my birth. Why do you think it’s important to use natural products and practice eco-living? AMANDA: I like to go as natural as I can especially with my children because they are still growing and developing. Their systems are new, delicate, and untainted. It is so important to exercise caution when it comes to the products and food you expose them to because you want them to develop optimally. BIANCA: I practice eco-living simply because it is better for the planet. It’s more sustainable, less wasteful, less toxic to the earth, and it doesn’t deplete our resources. I just feel safer using natural products on my family. What are some of your eco-friendly practices? AMANDA: I say no to plastic bags and restrict my usage of disposable diapers and bottles. I take 5-minute showers to save water and I try to recycle. I buy local when I can to support our local economy and lessen our carbon footprint. BIANCA: We don’t use chemical-laden products at home. I only buy those chemical-free and natural household cleansers and personal care products. We also consume organic food and adopt a more plant-based diet as much as we can. We use energy-saving appliances, we try to grow our own vegetables in our backyard to reduce food miles, and we use solar power to heat our water.

Why do your products carry a 1 year shelf life compared to 2 or more years for chemical products? We believe that using fresh ingredients is always the best. Our preservatives are 100% free from harmful chemicals and help extend the life of our products to 12 months which is a reasonable time for a product to be completely used up. Longer than that.. well, let’s just say fresh is best!
Why do I have to store natural products below 35°C and out of direct sunlight? Just like with fresh fruits and vegetables, high temperature and direct sunlight can trigger discoloration, hasten deterioration and affect the color or scent of the product. Since Human Nature products are 95% 100% natural, you can expect the same reaction with our products. Most of the time, product efficacy remains the same even if scent and color is affected. To preserve the look and quality of all natural products, it is important to store them below 35°C and keep them out of direct sunlight.
Can people still be allergic to natural & organic products? There are people who are inherently allergic to natural substances such as bee pollen, honey or eggs. However, synthetic chemical substances have a much higher likelihood of causing allergies and irritation. Since our products are 100% free from these irritating chemical substances, there is less likelihood of allergic reactions to our products.
