Dowling

Dowling may be small, but it’s a mighty nice place to call home. Just ask the 370-plus residents who live here, many for most of their lives.

Located in Baltimore Township, the center of town is at the intersection of State Highway M-37 and East Dowling Road. Downtown Battle Creek is 16 miles south.

The community includes the northern half of Clear Lake, home to the Outdoor Education Center – a division of the Battle Creek Public School System.

The lakeside school camp is the oldest in the nation, offering teachers and students an outdoor laboratory to explore nature.

In addition to overnight and day programs for schools in the region, the center also hosts weddings, workshops and family retreats.

The census-designated place in Baltimore Township has several singlefamily ranch style homes along with land and access to services in nearby Hastings and other communities.
