01 MOUNT OULU (Oulu, Finland) Block redevelopment competition 3rd place | Year 2015
Taking a look at the necessities of Oulu one can find that the city has already what it needs, there is only the question of what it wants - Oulu wants to be noticed, a landmark as such, also making life more fulfilled with various possibilities for cultural and recreational activities. Mt. Oulu is a step towards a vision of bringing more life to varios regions of Oulu by livening the Tuira area introducing Mt. Oulu - enhancing the exsisting terrain and pine groove by creating an elevated structure surrounding the core of the area as well as connecting the key points in another level in a way keeping the grounds in order implementing various activities among the route such as climbing walls, a treetop park etc. The elevated way introduces a new perspective - suddenly theetops become reachable and a possibility to view any happenings around the area from a different point of Ń‘view also providing a great view over Oulu from the highes point. 6

Development proposal for a inportant and unique street in Riga. With it being unique as a diagonal across the city grid makes this street quite important in the overall traffic and pedestrian flow. The street connects the city centre with its outter regions via public transport going both dirrections and car traffic only one dirrection creating a small chaos in combination with pedestrian and cyclist flow. 1030m total lengh. This proposal introduces reorganisation from the ground up. Transforming it to a one way street completely and even pedestrian only in some parts. This is achieved by reorganising Public transport and traffic flow, reorganised crossings and much wider sidewalks with room for a bike lane and greenery in combination with additional parking spaces.

Baltic way – a human chain flowing through Baltic countries in endeavour to regain their freedom. A phenomenon that showed that these three small countries, overlooking their differences, can make an intercultural bond for a common cause – to overcome the consequences of the World War II and to terminate the control of totalitarian regime. Baltic way is a historical symbol that lives in the memories of people and continuously raises the importance of solidarity, the value of freedom of speech and the non-violent resistance.

04 STATION SLOTERDIJK- BIOPHILIC DESIGN (Amsterdam, Netherlands) Biophilic design | Year 2018
Bees dying at an alarming rate globally - Patching environmental anxiety Station Sloterdijk biophilic design is set give a slight change the profit and profit based area developments surrounding it. The design focuses on the well-being (and survival basically) of humans by designing mainly with the bee in mind - by focusing on the importance of these small and extremely well-organized creatures in times where their survival is often at stake – we need to see how these lives correspond to our way of life. Not too long ago in china has started to use human labor to preform pollination since the use of so much pesticides has made blooming trees unattractive to bees. This is not a proper solution. Bees are dying at an alarming rate globally – colonial collapse disorder – over the years our bees have been exposed to more and more new threats such as diseases, mite and heavy use of pesticides. One of the main drivers of behavioral change is knowledge – by creating a bee/human friendly biophilic design we can raise awareness and prove that this co-existence is crucial to all of us.

Selected planting to flourish throughout the year
Station Sloterdijk has the benefit of location within the city where parks and gardens are within close flying range from here bees have already a good selection of plants within reach. The design for the square starts by creating: 1) An environment with a wide range of perennial plants- flowers, bushes, trees, climbers selected to bloom throughout the whole year covering as much ground as possible; 2) Creating wind shade by extruding “islands and covering them with bushes and trees; 3) Adding water features to give a variation of plants dry to wet and regulate the microclimate; 4) Placing not only honeybees but also some empty hives of different type to attract wild and solidary bees; 5) Creating an informational beekeepers shed and auditorium creating a platform welcoming beekeepers as well as passers-by who seek knowledge or want to support the project. 05 CO-LIVING URBAN FABRIC (Amsterdam, Netherlands) Industrial area develeopment plan | Year 2018
40 years in the future of co-living Amsterdam. Where one no longer has to come home after work, since everything is done from distance; Where there is no need for parking cars, since they are always on the move; Where all shopping is done remotely and delivered by drone; Where people have real relationships with AI; Where experiences are valued much more than possessions people have learned to adopt the co-living concept to gain at least some social interaction (when desired) at a time where leaving the private living space is not mandatory to survive. The design focuses on phasing of the eventual takeover of this industrial area in Amsterdam west. Taking advantage of the existing building typology (warehouses/car repair shops) on the plot as a future classic shape for residential buildings. This only makes sense when maximizing the double height (or more) common space by stacking private spaces. Co-living typoligy

06 HOMO LUDENS (Arnhem, Netherlands) A city above a city | Year 2017
Not that far in the distant future, when the theory of Homo Ludens would have taken full effect and moved to the far extreme. The city of Amsterdam will have reached the peak of dysneyfication. There is no more work, its only playtime in the streets. The city is as dense as it can get, the only way to expand in the 3 dimensions we know is up (since the 4th dimension is yet to be discovered). But should you? The design proposes to extrude vertical steel skeletons, which are used further as foundations in any given height by and for city nomads to create shelters to esÂŹcape the playground, but still remain in the heart of the city. Here one is able to give full attention to a very important hobby of this time - work. In this case the roof-scape of the block becomes a new and un-even landscape to build on top of. As the shelter provides an escape from the city, the structures are Location in the densified city center

strategically placed to the inside of this block(facing inwards) - allowing the shelter not to be seen from street level. Entering this village is possible from the inside of the block, by using the in-built vertical communications built in the vertical steel cores. In this way any part of roof area becomes accessible. As soon as the first volumes are carefully placed creating a workshop and other communal areas - the other volumes have a certain freedom regarding their placement. Volumes are to be built light with the possibility to expand, tear down, rebuild and reuse materials making the village as self-sustainable as possible. This village above the city of Amsterdam can add to the overall silhouette of the city, by disrupting the current line with a newfound vertical movement.

(Arnhem, Netherlands) Museum extension competition 1st place | Year 2016
The Museum Arnhem extension tender took place in spring 2016. I had the opportunity to be part of the tender team while doing an internship at Benthem Crouwel Architects. Carried out multiple design options, from wich derrived the winnig design and the building process is set to beging in the near future. The design features a clear new volume along with a reorganisation of the functions of the existing building. In contradiction to the given refference design - wich was set to be located 100% underground, we propose a new smartly designed “stroke volume in the place of an existing extension building done in the late 1950s which was scheluded to be taken down in the near future. Placing the new volume in its location meant to improove accesability, improve visibilitiy of the museum making it visible from the city as well as introducing new views over it (creating a landmark), placing the volume in said location also allows preservation of the existing trees in the courtyard.

09 LIGHTWAVES (Amsterdam, Netherlands) Light festival instalation | Year 2016
Forces for Architecture Lightwaves is a project of Forces for Architecture, a research lab established in 2015 by designer JĂłlan van der Wiel and Benthem Crouwel Architects. In this lab we examined how natural phenomena can serve their built environment. Where natural phenomena are usually something humans want to protect themselves against, the lab tries to show that natural phenomena can be used to develop new types of architecture.Various experiments have been conducted resulting in conceptual models, materials and ‘building skins’ that respond to natural forces. Lightwaves is one of the results of the lab. New types of architecture The artwork is just as unpredictable as the Dutch weather. The installation responds to the ever-changing local wind conditions. Patterns of light dance above the canals, making the whirling airstreams visible. Where natural phenomena are usually something humans want to protect themselves against - with air conditioning, heating and windshields, Lightwaves shows that natural phenomena can be used to develop new types of architecture. 10 RAI MASTERPLAN (Amsterdam, Netherlands) Masterplan | Year 2017
As of 2018 the expo capacity of the RAI is operating beyond its maximum capacity - regulary building temporary tents as expo extensions and dealing with regular logistical bottlenecks. The need for exhibition space is only expected to increase with the opening of the new metro line and soon completion of the RAI hotel. Whilst working in the Benthem Crouwel team I’ve had the chance to do design work on the general expansion masterplan with volume, capacity and logistic route studies as well as developing certain parts of the masterplan even further. dakaanzicht bestaande situatie

Spacial quality design principles
Design work for the expansion of the Delft Zuid station includes the addition of two platforms, a newly built underpass and re-development of the squares.with the goal to increase social safety daylight in the underpass is maximized by the use of angled walls and a glass floor above the staircases as well as rounded off corners for improoved visibility and people flow. The main charecteristic of this design is the coloured gradient on the north wall - this helps with orientation since the floorplan is almost symetrical. The gradient is achieved by simply using 30 different coloured tiles. 7102- 01- 02
