This is my thesis project (PFC) at Universidad Europea de Madrid. My interest in bees, and their current disappearance worldwide, led me to discover that paradoxically the city has become a good place for them, a refuge where we can mutually benefit. There are already many cities that have incorporated the bees, but not in Spain. Although, it is a country of great beekeeping tradition the legislation in this case is obsolete, thus cities are created without pollinators. Therefore the city of Madrid is proposed as an starting city to home urban apiaries on their roofs. Thus, the Api_Lab arises on public buildings’ rooftop, as a space to produce and also study the bee, and also raise awareness about their importance.
