Tabor has an array of undergraduate programs (in traditional and accelerated evening formats) and also offers undergraduate business certificates for students of all majors who would like to customize their education and demonstrate versatility to employers. Additionally, Tabor features a highly acclaimed evening MBA program geared toward established business professionals, as well as a traditional day MBA program that can be completed in 12 months. The Tabor School of Business is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business School Programs.

ACCOUNTING

The Accounting major prepares students for positions in public accounting, managerial accounting, governmental accounting, taxation, and auditing. This sequence is designed to meet the minimum formal accounting-content requirements to sit for the CPA examination.

A Bachelor of Science in Accounting prepares students for careers in public accounting, private industry, and government. In keeping with the work of the Accounting Education Change Commission, the program places emphasis on accounting theory and practice as well as the fundamental skills of problem solving, communicating, and

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS Accountants develop and interpret financial data required for decision making by managers, investors, regulators, and other stakeholders. To perform their functions, accountants must work with both numerical information and concepts, and they must be able to function effectively as individuals and in teams. Courses prepare students for careers in professional services, industry, government, and education. Other upper division business courses will be recommended by your advisor based on your career interests.

MILLIKIN DIFFERENCE Accounting students are strongly encouraged to pursue the designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Students wishing to pursue the CPA certification in the state of Illinois must complete 150 semester hours of college credit prior to sitting for the certification exam. To meet this requirement, students will have a range of options available to them, including an in-person Becker CPA Review course, which will prepare them to take the CPA exam.

A degree in Digital Media Marketing from Millikin provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to be able to work in nearly any industry that exists today, particularly because marketing is such an important part of any business plan.

Students often are responsible for managing the social media as well as developing promotional strategies.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS Students in the Digital Media Marketing major develop skills and techniques that include writing and posting blogs, creating press releases, proofing and editing, tracking metrics, and maintaining business digital media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram.

MILLIKIN DIFFERENCE Digital Media Marketing majors have unique opportunities to see marketing and media in action. In the Brand Loyalty through Digital Media class, students explore how Disney uses media and technology to enhance experiences – and then put their research into practice with a trip to a Disney theme park. In other classes, students may research, develop, and execute a marketing plan for a local organization.

Millikin University’s Information Systems program will prepare you to use technology to address the operational, tactical, and strategic challenges facing business, governmental, and non-profit organizations.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS Information Systems students have the unique opportunity to participate in the student-run venture, MU Performance Consulting. In this faculty-coached, student-owned learning laboratory, students from business and technology collaborate to build and sustain IT projects for local organizations. Projects range from database applications to web development, and students are compensated for their work.

MILLIKIN DIFFERENCE Information Systems (I.S.) is the study of collecting, organizing, storing, and communicating data using hardware, computer programs, and networks. Millikin IS students have the unique opportunity to build their resume while in the Tabor School of Business. Through client consulting projects for area organizations, project competitions, and hands-on labs, students build the skills necessary to become programmer/developers, database analysts, and network/server administrators for Fortune 500 companies.

DIGITAL MEDIA MARKETING MINOR Students in the Digital Media Marketing Minor can supplement the core focus of their education in another degree area with a secondary area of expertise in marketing. EXECUTIVE MBA Students in the Executive MBA Program typically have several years of business experience and varying educational backgrounds. They work in all types of small and corporate businesses in such fields as accounting, healthcare, engineering, information systems, human resources, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship. The start-date for the Executive MBA is in January.

containing two courses each. Students move through the units and courses in teams, start to finish. Each unit session is 10 weeks and consists of two courses and a practicum. Classes meet two evenings a week for about 3 1/2 hours each night.

Millikin believes that to truly understand the global economy in which we live and work, we must immerse ourselves into our international world. For that reason, Executive MBA students, at the end of their program, travel internationally to live and study in another country where they participate in lectures, group projects, company visits, and cultural tours. Past trips have included travel to China and Germany.


OUR STRENGTHS

FAST-TRACK MBA

The Fast-Track MBA offers cohort experience with a carefully planned schedule. Students arrive in August and take six classes in the fall and spring semesters and two classes in the summer to complete their Master of Business Administration degree.

The Millikin Fast-Track MBA is a one-year, full-time day program designed for business and non-business degree students who want to gain executive-level business knowledge and critical thinking skills. The start date for the

Students in the Fast-Track MBA are also encouraged to earn one of three graduate certificates in Data Management, Entrepreneurship, or Project Management. To earn these certificates, an additional two to three classes may be required but can be taken during the one-year duration of the program.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS Get up to speed on critical business topics with the MBA Boot Camp. Fast-Track MBA students begin with 60 hours of instruction and simulations. A wide-range of C-Suite faculty from diverse career backgrounds cover a wide range of critical business topics and concepts to prepare students of every background to be successful in the program and beyond.

SIX SIGMA Work with a Fortune 100 company like Caterpillar, Inc., to earn internal Green Belt Lean Management Certification and graduate prepared to take the Six Sigma Green Belt Certification exam upon completion of the Fast-Track MBA program.

MBA graduate assistantships are available to a select group of high-achieving students. Graduate assistantships feature a half-tuition benefit and give students an opportunity to use their business skills.
