MEET NOTES TONIGHT No. 4 Utah (10-0, 6-0 Pac-12) closes out its regular season home schedule against No. 5 Michigan (8-1, 5-0 Big Ten) at 7:00 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. Recognized in a pre-meet celebration will be Utah’s star-studded senior class of Georgia Dabritz, Corrie Lothrop, Becky Tutka and Tory Wilson. TUTKA SETS SCHOOL ‘HIT’ RECORD Senior Becky Tutka enters her final regular season home meet as the school record holder for consecutive routines completed without a fall.Tutka has hit 75-of-75 routines in her career, breaking the old mark of 72 consecutive hit routines set by Stephanie McAllister from 2010-11. QUICK STICKS With last week’s win at Oregon State, gymnastics became the first Utah team to complete a Pac-12 regular season without a loss. Utah (which did not meet California this year) finished 6-0 in Pac-12 play. The Utes will host the Pac-12 Championship on Mar. 21 … Utah must beat two top-10 nonconference teams for an undefeated regular season. The Utes, currently 10-0 overall with a home meet against No. 5 Michigan tonight and a road meet against No. 10 Georgia on Mar. 14 remaining, have achieved an unbeaten regular season just once in their history, in 1993 (13-0) … Georgia Dabritz is ranked No. 1 in the nation this week on bars (9.950 regional qualifying score), No. 2 on vault (9.945) and tied for fifth on floor (9.930) … Tory Wilson is the Pac-12’s top-ranked all-arounder and is No. 7 in the nation with a 39.435 RQS … Utah has the country’s No. 1 vault team and has three vaulters in the top 10: Dabritz is No. 1, Wilson is tied for sixth and Kailah Delaney is tied for ninth. ATTENDANCE RECORD IN SIGHT Utah, which is averaging 14,682 fans at home, needs a crowd of 13,154 tonight to break its school and NCAA gymnastics single-season attendance record of 14,376 set last year. The Utes are also a virtual lock to win the 2015 gymnastics and all-women’s sport attendance titles. UTE INSIDER Georgia Dabritz has a team-best 20 wins this season, including victories on bars in seven of eight meets and six wins on floor … Utah has had four all-arounders score a 39.35 or better: Dabritz (39.70 best), Tory Wilson (39.55 twice), Corrie Lothrop (39.45) and Baely Rowe (39.35) … Rowe won her first career all-around last week at
OSU, scoring a 39.30 … Dabritz leads Utah with three all-around wins, but has not gone all-around in the last two meets after being replaced by Kailah Delaney in the beam lineup. Dabritz’ 9.925 in exhibition routine on beam last week could make the No. 2 beam spot this week a game-day decision. CHALK TALK Utah has won every bar title this season (Georgia Dabritz 7, Corrie Lothrop 1) … Utah is 6-0 at home and 4-0 on the road … Ute winners this season: Dabritz (20), Tory Wilson (6), Baely Rowe (3), Kailah Delaney (2), Kari Lee (2), Corrie Lothrop (2) … Utah counted a fall for the first time last week at Oregon State, when two Utes fell off the balance beam. The Utes are 186-192 in hit routines (routines without a fall). Gymnasts who have hit every routine are Delaney (11-11), Tiffani Lewis (10-10), Breanna Hughes (8-8), Kassandra Lopez (8-8), Maddy Stover (8-8), Becky Tutka (5-5) and Samantha Partyka (3-3). PAC-12 WEEKLY AWARDS Utes have accumulated eight Pac-12 weekly awards to date, including this week’s Special Performance of the Week by Georgia Dabritz. Utah’s four Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week citations include three from Dabritz (Jan. 19, Feb. 2, Feb. 9) and one from Tory Wilson (Jan. 12). Utah’s four Pac-12 Special Performance of the Week awards have gone to Corrie Lothrop (Jan. 26), Wilson (Feb. 9) and Dabritz (Feb. 23, Mar. 2). SCOUTING MICHIGAN Head Coach: Bev Plocki (26th Season) 2014 NCAA Finish: 10th National Rank: 5 2015 Record: 8-1, 5-0 Big Ten Notes: Only loss was to No. 1 Oklahoma on Feb. 20, 197.375-197.250 … season-high 197.300 in win over Nebraska on Jan. 31 … scored a 197.250 in the last two meets … top road score is a 197.125 at Maryland on Feb. 7 … UM has two of the top all-arounders in the country in No. 5 Sachi Sugiyama (39.475 RQS/39.55 season high) and No. 6 Nicole Artz (39.470 RQS, 39.600 high) … Brianna Brown has a 39.45 all-around best. SERIES SHORTS Utah leads the series with Michigan 24-13 (10-2 in Salt Lake City) … The teams are 3-3 since 2010 … The Wolverines have won the last two match-ups, at the 2013 NCAA Championships and last March in Ann Arbor.

C0-HEAD COACHES GREG & MEGAN MARSDEN
Greg Marsden
Megan Marsden
reg and Megan Marsden have teamed up to create a gymnastics dynasty at the University of Utah. Under the Marsdens, Utah is the only school to qualify for the last 39 National Championships and has won a record 10 national championships. Utah gymnastics celebrates its 40th season this year and Greg has coached every team. The seven-time National Coach of the Year became the sport’s first 1,000win coach last year. His gymnasts have won 350 All-America awards—more than any other program—and 24 individual event championships. He and Megan were named the 2014 Pac-12 “Coach” of the Year after leading their gymnasts to the school’s first Pac-12 Championship in any sport. Megan, in her sixth year as the co-head coach and her 31st year overall, was the 2005 National Assistant Coach of the Year, and the 2011 and 2012 Region Head Coach of the Year. As an undergraduate, Megan was the best college gymnast in America, leading the Utes to four national titles and winning three individual championships (including
two all-around titles). She was a 12-time first-team All-American. As a coaching tandem, they have led Utah to 18 Super Six appearances in the 22year history of team finals. Utah has placed in the top five in the country 28 times, in the top three 22 times and in the top two 18 times. The Marsdens have developed Utah gymnastics into a major spectator sport that has attracted a fan following rivaling that of any indoor college men’s or women’s sport. In the past five years, the Ute gymnasts have averaged more than 14,000 fans a home meet, and their 20-year attendance average exceeds 11,000.The Utes have won 30 national gymnastics attendance titles. Utah gymnastics is the only sport other than basketball to win an NCAA women’s season attendance title and it has done so four times (2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014). Greg and Megan are parents of sons Montana and Dakota, and dog Rocky. Montana is pursuing his MBA from Utah and Dakota is a student manager for the gymnastics team and a senior at the U.

ASSISTANT COACH TOM FARDEN
G
Tom Farden 5th year
reg Marsden describes fifth-year Ute assistant Tom Farden as “the future” of Utah gymnastics, along with co-head coach Megan Marsden. The legendary Utah coach takes it a step further by acknowledging he and Megan already view Farden as a head coach. Farden, a dynamic recruiter and a skilled coach, oversees Utah’s bar team and assists with the floor exercise routines. In his first four seasons at Utah, the bar and floor lineups have produced 18 All-America awards (regular season and NCAA), an NCAA silver medalist, six routines in the NCAA individual event finals, five regional champions and four Pac-12 individual titles. Farden draws from 17 years of NCAA coaching experience and another nine years as a club coach. He spent six years as the head coach at Southeast Missouri State following a five-year stint as a SEMO assistant, and was named the 2008 NCAA South Central Regional Coach of the Year. He and his wife Christina have a son, Ki.

JON M. HUNTSMAN CENTER
T
he most famous college gymnastics facility in the country, Utah’s Jon M. Huntsman Center has showcased more major collegiate gymnastics meets than any other venue. The Huntsman Center has hosted a record nine national championships—one AIAW and eight NCAA Championships: 1981 (AIAW), 1982, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1994, 1999 and 2007. Other gymnastics events making Huntsman Center appearances include the 1979 USGF World Championships Trials, the 1980 and ’82 Championships of the USA, the 1993 World University Games Trials and 12 NCAA regional championships (most recently in 2012). Opened in 1969 on the southeast side of campus (elevation 4,657 feet), the 15,000-seat Huntsman Center is still in pristine condition. The facility underwent a $6 million renovation last summer. The project included the installation of a supergrid ceiling structure, a state-of-the-art sound system, brighter and energy-efficient LED lighting in the arena and concourse, a maple wood floor, and updated graphics wrapping the walls of the lower bowl and mid-level concourse. Also calling the Huntsman Center home are the Ute men’s and women’s basketball, and women’s volleyball teams.
The Huntsman Center ranks third among the nation’s arenas for most NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament games held (81). Perhaps the most legendary NCAA Tournament game of all time—the 1979 NCAA Championship game starring Larry Bird and Magic Johnson—was played in the Huntsman Center.
