Unmatched Academic Results

I am often asked about how and why I select the shows for the season here at PTC. Is there a plan? Is there a formula? No, not really. I select shows I like, I select shows that, I hope, offer a variety of experiences, feelings, and emotions—and sometimes I just select stories that simply need to be told. Not because I have an agenda, but because it will make for a good theatrical experience.

The Prom is a wonderful theatrical experience: singing, dancing, comedy, crazy characters, and a whole lot of heart. It’s also Pioneer Theatre Company’s way of supporting those in the LGBTQIA+ community who may be feeling excluded or unwelcome in this current climate. We offer it with a full heart and open arms.

BERNARD DOTSON* (Mr. Hawkins) is thrilled to be making his debut at Pioneer Theatre Company! Bernard began his career traveling nationally and internationally singing the Walt Disney Songbook. Broadway: Paradise Square, Finian’s Rainbow (First Gospeleer, Original Revival Cast), Chicago (Billy Flynn), Imaginary Friends (Leo, Original Cast), Sweet Smell Of Success (Club Zanzibar Singer, Original Cast), Jesus Christ Superstar (Original Revival Cast), and the Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime (Original Cast).
