UNIVERSITY PROFESSIONAL THEATRE PROGRAM SLAC is delighted to partner with local universities to heighten theatre students’ educational experience by taking them out of the classroom and hiring them at a professional theatre. During SATURDAY’S VOYEUR 2016 we are thrilled to have actors Devin Rey Barney, Charlotte Brickwood, Mikki Reeve, Bailey Walker and Amanda Wright, Assistant Stage Manager Martin C. Alcocer and Assistant Musical Director Mike Leavitt as part of the University Professional Theatre Program (UPTP.) “I think by the end of my experience I will have an understanding of how the process of creating a progressive, comedic, and musical play works. Understanding this process will help me if I ever were to work on a new production, or perhaps producing work on a creative team. The Voyeur experience is a unique one, and is one I believe will help me adapt to change and solve problems quickly in my future career.” –Devin Rey Barney | Actor | University of Utah “By joining the cast of SATURDAY’S VOYEUR 2016 I’ve become an Equity Member Candidate which will help me continue my career in Professional Theatre locally, national and internationally.” –Charlotte Brickwood | Actor | University of Utah “I believe the University Professional Theatre Program will give me a head start with my professional career; SATURDAY’S VOYEUR 2016 has already given me Equity points as well as a professional job that pays better than any other jobs available to young college students.” –Mikki Reeve | Actor | University of Utah “This program is giving me an invaluable head start in my career as an actor! Being a part of Saturday’s Voyeur has allowed me to become EMC (Equity Member Candidate) which will ultimately allow me to become a member of AEA. Having a world premiere on my resume is amazing because it shows other professional theatres that I have the skills to put up a show in a short amount of time. In addition, this program gives me the chance to make friends with other working professionals thus making a lifelong network of friends in the business-and you never know who you will end up collaborating with again!” – Bailey Walker | Actor | University of Utah “I hope to build a network with the local professionals in my community! SLAC has presented me with the unique opportunity to work closely alongside performers who have been working in the theatre professionally for a long time. The skills and inspiration that I have been able to take from them over the course of this rehearsal process has been invaluable. Being a part of UPTP will give me a unique jumpstart in my career by allowing me to become an EMC and make enough money to live off of my greatest passion. Most college students are not given the opportunity to pursue professional work while they are in school, and this unique experience will prepare me for the “real world” in ways that sitting in a classroom can’t.” -Amanda Wright | Actor | University of Utah

UNIVERSITY PROFESSIONAL THEATRE PROGRAM “Being able to have additional working experience in my field is something that really helps improve me and prepare me for my future in my chosen career path as a stage manager.” -Martin C. Alcocer | Assistant Stage Manager | University of Utah “I am excited to work with SLAC and be a part of the creative process in building a show from the ground up to the final staged performance. Working with SLAC is an important step in my professional career because of its reputation amongst professional theaters both locally and nationally.” -Mike Leavitt | Assistant Musical Director | University of Utah Sponsors: The John & Marcia Price Family Foundation, Terence Kearns Stephens Charitable Fund and Marian Jacobsen

rt Access is pleased to feature the work of Stephanie Deer for the production of Saturday’s Voyeur – a match made in marshmallow heaven!

Deer’s motivation for her paintings starts with the Beehive State. She is inspired by Utah in all its glory. Fry sauce, funeral potatoes, and the greatest snow on earth are some of the warm, vibrant, often hilarious things that connect her to the community. Painting allows Deer to celebrate all the pop culture icons that give Utah its unique personality. The Beehive Lady featured in her works emerged from the matriarchs who inspired her as a child. These proud women loved their families, careers, aprons, roadshows, and the occasional warm meal, and continue to influence her work with their strength, vitality, and style.

The Painful Truth Pain is an unbidden guest, humanity’s shadow companion down through the ages. It is a despoiler of dreams and a thief. Chronic pain can appear suddenly in a person’s life, changing it forever. Dr. Lynn R. Webster puts a face on chronic pain through the lives of his patients, and provides an intimate view of what it is like to live with it. The Painful Truth will open your eyes to the world of those who are stigmatized and marginalized by our society and healthcare system. Yet the new book offers hope and a path forward for those willing to engage in a crusade against the human race’s primal enemy—pain.

“This remarkable book will change the way this country thinks about pain, pain management, and those who struggle with pain every day. Dr. Webster uses true stories and his vast experience to remind us why pain is a reality that cannot be ignored.” —Paul Gileno, founder and president, U.S. Pain Foundation
