This year’s speaker is Alicia Garza, a co-creator of #BlackLivesMatter and the Black Lives Matter Global Network. Garza is also the co-founder of the women’s activist hub Supermajority and the founder of Black Futures Lab, which aims to elevate the voices of black communities in politics. An honorary degree will be awarded to Elizabeth J. Cabraser, a civil litigator who has spearheaded some of the most well-known class action lawsuits in American history. She has been inducted into the National Trial Lawyers Association’s Trial Lawyer of Fame and teaches at the Berkeley and Columbia law schools. Commencement kicks off at 9:45 am on Saturday, May 16. If you wish to process in the ceremony with your fellow alumnae, robe up at Reinhardt Alumnae House starting at 8:00 am.
