A B O U T T H E M I LWAU K E E S Y M P H O N Y O R C H E S T R A The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is among the finest orchestras in the nation. Since its inception in 1959, the MSO has found innovative ways to give music a home in the region, develop music appreciation and talent among area youth, and raise the national reputation of Milwaukee. The MSO’s full-time professional musicians perform more than 135 classics, pops, family, education, and community concerts each season in venues throughout the state. A pioneer among American orchestras, the MSO has performed world and American premieres of works by John Adams, Roberto Sierra, Phillip Glass, Geoffrey Gordon, Marc Neikrug, and Matthias Pintscher, as well as garnered national recognition as the first American orchestra to offer live recordings on iTunes. Now in its 47th season, the orchestra’s nationally syndicated radio broadcast series, the longest consecutive-running series of any U.S. orchestra, is heard annually by more than two million listeners on 147 subscriber stations in 38 of the top 100 markets.
The MSO’s standard of excellence extends beyond the concert hall and into the community, reaching more than 40,000 children and their families through its Arts in Community Education (ACE) program, Youth and Teen concerts, Family Series, and Meet the Music pre-concert talks. Celebrating its 29th year, the nationallyrecognized ACE program integrates arts education across all subjects and disciplines, providing opportunities for students when budget cuts may eliminate arts programming. The program provides lesson plans and supporting materials, classroom visits from MSO musician ensembles and artists from local organizations, and an MSO concert tailored to each grade level. This season, more than 7,300 students and 500 teachers and faculty in 19 Southeastern Wisconsin schools will participate in ACE.

ABOUT SOJOURNER
The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is pleased to be one of over thirty organizations across the country and the world to be a Lullaby Project partner, a program of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. Pregnant women, parents, and grandparents work with professional teaching artists to write personal lullabies for their children, supporting maternal health, aiding child development, and strengthening the bond between parent and child. The lullabies are then professionally arranged, recorded, and finally shared in a public performance featuring professional musicians and the mothers themselves. The MSO is delighted to partner with Sojourner Family Peace Center to bring this program to Milwaukee.
The mission of Sojourner is to transform lives impacted by domestic violence. Sojourner is the largest provider of domestic violence prevention and intervention services in Wisconsin, providing crisis housing, system advocacy and individual support to individuals and families who are hurting. Serving over 12,000 clients annually, Sojourner’s primary goals are to ensure the safety of survivors of family violence and to provide a pathway out of violence for survivors and offenders through opportunities to make positive and lasting changes for themselves and their children. Sojourner and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin formed a unique partnership to create one of the first co-located child advocacy and family violence centers in the country. Using a proven, collaborative model, the Family Peace Center accommodates a number of co-located and visiting partner organizations and service providers, including the Milwaukee Police Department Sensitive Crimes Unit, Milwaukee Public Schools, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, Aurora Healthcare Abuse Response Services, Core / El Centro, Project Ujima, Jewish Family Services, and others. Families receiving services at the Family Peace Center have access to a wide array of services to support their efforts to achieve healing, selfsufficiency, and freedom from abuse. Sojourner Family Peace Center is committed to creating communities where people live peacefully. For more information, visit www. familypeacecenter.org. Stay Strong as Life Goes Along By Samantha with Beth Giacobassi Stay strong as life goes along, Keep your independence, Open your heart to new things, But bring me along. James, you’re becoming such a handsome man, Dark hair, dark eyes, Native American. Football, video games, chemistry, Spiderman who likes his zzzz’s, Dry sense of humor, you’re a lot like me, Even though you don’t try to be. Our bond is unbreakable, so unbreakable Then you can tell... the world... My love for you will always be unbreakable Tell the world... The trust that we share remains unshakable Tell the world... Faith in our family stays unbreakable, it’s unmistakable We are unbreakable Who will be there for you when... it hurts to grow When can I tell you where to find... those things you’ll need to know And how can I show you sometimes why... We Can Turn Our Nightmares into Dreams By Monica with Beth Giacobassi
When everything feels awful, I promise it won’t last, If we stay brave together, to you I will hold fast. When darkness is upon you, know that this won’t last, So shine your light and hold on tight until the night has passed. We can turn our nightmares into dreams, My love will wrap you safely, Your strength will always be there, We can turn our nightmares into dreams. When life seems so confusing, I know that you are scared, But hold onto my love for you and know I’ve always cared, I am always with you, like the stars above, Shining down upon you with my never ending love. We can turn our nightmares into dreams, My love will wrap you safely, Your strength will always be there, We can turn our nightmares into dreams. Feelings are our messengers, they come and they will go, For every fear replace it with a new hope that will grow, We are shining stars, within us shines a light, In darkest times we’ll find a way to make it still shine bright. CHORUS X 4 We can turn our nightmares into dreams, My love will wrap you safely, Your strength will always be there, We can turn our nightmares into dreams.
Larzy’s Song By Alianne with John Tanner It’s so hard to put into words, All the things you mean to me. But, I want you to know. And, I want you to see. Because all my life I have wondered Who am I, where I belong? Then I think of my parents, And I put all that love in this song. Te amo. Je t’aime. Ich liebe dich. Kocham cie. Te amo. Je t’aime. Ich liebe dich. Kocham cie. My baby. My son. My happiness. Laraiton. I never believed in love at first sight So silly it couldn’t be true. But, Larzy the moment I saw you, All of my dreams they came true. Mommy will always be here. Baby you’re safe and it’s true. When you are grown you’ll remember These words I’m singing to you. Te amo. Je t’aime. Ich liebe dich. Kocham cie. Te amo. Je t’aime. Ich liebe dich. Kocham cie. My baby. My son. My happiness. Laraiton. No matter what language we speak in, No matter what we might go through. Know that I’ll be right beside you. Larzy I’ll always love you! Te amo. Je t’aime. Ich liebe dich. Kocham cie. Te amo. Je t’aime. Ich liebe dich. Kocham cie. My baby. My son. My happiness. Laraiton.
My Beautiful Unicorn By Carrie and Hazel with Eric Segnitz VERSE 1 There once was a horse that was all skin and bones The darkness was scary the night it left home The horse was exhausted, it trudged down the road The journey was long for so heavy a load And the road twists and turns, to a barn in the woods It was run down and shabby, so misunderstood VERSE 2 The horse peeked inside, saw a magical world “Come in!” shouted Hazel, a most curious girl I’ll feed you and groom you until you are able To canter and jump with the best in the stable When the horse became strong, Hazel noticed a horn And the horse began flying like a real unicorn The horse began flying like a real unicorn CHORUS My beautiful daughter, these wishes for you A horse with a saddle, a dream to come true First you can jump, and then you can fly My beautiful unicorn, reach for the sky My beautiful unicorn...

You By Nicole with Meaghan Heinrich Apple juice lips and candy cane kisses. Laughter like bubbles and shooting star wishes. Stomping in puddles until your feet ache. I’ll always love you my baby cakes. Cuddles with Shadow and hide-and-go seek. Drumming your tummy and nibbling your cheeks. Dinosaur oatmeal as soon as you wake. I’ll always love you my baby cakes When it’s dark out, When the floors creak, When the ghost says “Boo!” I lift up the blanket that’s over your head And I see that it’s just you! Countless “I love you’s” and baby bear squeezes. Your rosy red nose with sniffles and sneezes. Pigtails so curly they catch the snowflakes. I’ll always love you my baby cakes. Apple juice lips and candy cane kisses. Laughter like bubbles and shooting star wishes. Stomping in puddles until your feet ache. I’ll always love you my baby cakes. When it’s dark out, When the floors creak, When the ghost says “Boo!” I lift up the blanket that’s over your head And I see that it’s just you! I will always, always love you. Yes, I will always, always love you. I will always, always love you.
Surrounded by Love By Brandi with John Tanner When I was young I knew who I was, Where to go, what I would be. I never knew there would come a day When someone would change the world for me. There was a time when I thought I understood All that my heart could feel. Then you came along and turned me upside down. And gave me the only love that’s real. We’re surrounded by love. We’re each surrounded by love. Asia, my love, my daughter so dear. You have taught me I can be who I am. Isaiah, your heart so full of love. You’ve shown me how to laugh again. My Alysha, you are wise beyond your years. You’ve taught me life can grow and change. Deep in our hearts we hold each other close And whatever may come our love remains. We’re surrounded by love. We’re each surrounded by love. It’s a gift from God above. A gift so we can start to hold each other With an open heart. We’re surrounded by love. We’re each surrounded by love.
