ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO MIN-TSUNG CHENG
About me I am a hard working individual who is imaginative, creative, energetic and full of respect for others. I believe my work ethic, values and personality would make me an asset to the firms vision for the built environment. As an eager learner, challenges will become valuable experiences conditioning me for the nature of the industry. The skills gained will be applied in future scenarios to ensure increasingly efficient delivery and results. A graduate of architecture from the University of New South Wales who is seeking a job position for an opportunity to work, learn and contribute to both current and future projects. Documentation on large scale projects forms part of my prior work experiences. The skillset I attained includes stages of design, documentation and workflows of a building. I come to this position with strengths in organisation, responsibility, project management and digital software. Nonetheless, I am willing to further develop my weaknesses in response to mentoring through challenges that arise in the working environment.

RESILENT NEIGHBOURHOODS GRADUATION THESIS STUDIO
PROJECT BRIEF
Bondi Beach / SYDNEY In Bondi there are extremes of wealth and poverty. Most of the apartments in Bondi are for the affluent. Lack of affordability and a diversity creates a closed society that has the potential to exacerbate fear of the ‘the other’. However, challenging ‘the haves’ through architecture and the creation of neighbourhoods for the “have nots” has the potential to create more resilient communities. Through this approach the Wayside Chapel can integrate with wider social groups in a safe and equal manner. The architectural manifestation of these ideas is a series of protective, transparent and interactive spaces within the building for individuals to use and be themselves. The building makes a statement for Bondi and embodies the Wayside Chapel’s motto ‘no us and them.’ The functions and facilities of this new building act as a catalyst for the future and facilitates the emergence of a more resilient community.

‘BARRABUWARI MURU’
PROJECT BRIEF
Australian Museum Extension Project / Darlinghurst / SYDNEY The Australian Museum’s Master Plan encompasses a bold vision for a world-leading natural history and culture museum. Named barrabuwari muru, meaning ‘future path’ in Sydney’s Indigenous language, the Master Plan sets the course for the 190 year old Australian Museum to reclaim its place as a museum of international standing, opening more of its historic site to the public and showcasing more of its collection of over 18 million objects. The vision for the future museum includes a new multi-story building on the AM’s eastern quarter on the corner of William and Yurong Streets, which will also extend over the top of the existing structures, while recognising the heritage of the historic site. In addition to providing more space to display the AM’s extensive collection, the Master Plan’s vision includes: • A Grand Hall at the centre of the site, more than 70 metres long surrounded by historic sandstone walls and accommodating up to 2,000 people for gala events and conferences. • A new large temporary exhibition space attracting major international blockbusters, allowing Sydney to compete on a global stage.

CURATING ARCHITECTURE
BRIEF In the delivery of the graduate exhibition, students will extend their research and design skills responding to the practical and technical limitations of time, location, budget and resources. Students will develop and implement collaborative skills within an environment of mutual learning and shared responsibilities. Student groups will undertake several interconnected and interdependent activities, with teams allocated to different aspects of the production of the exhibition. Students will be required to engage in collaborative practice with the ability to reflect and document their individual contributions to the whole project.
ROLE : PROJECT MANAGEMENT Organising and overseeing of the entire project; scheduling submissions, deliveries and installation etc. Communicating with all internal stakeholders, incl. graduating student cohort, studio coordinators and exhibition organisors to ensure the efficient production of a high profile, high quality public exhibition of graduating student work
