INTRODUCTION
What is contentment? How do we achieve it ? I don’t have all the answers but I can choose to share what god has shown me. I remember a verse that goes great with this: 1Tim. 6:6 “Godliness with contentment is great gain. “It takes a bit of strength to recognize that we can be content. It requires confidence, and obedience to almost come to a stopping point and realize where we are at. Becoming or allowing ourselves to be thankful for what we have and more importantly who we have in our lives How do we determine if we are content? Are we always looking or searching for something to take up our time? Do we base our lives on stuff? We obviously, have to redirect or refocus ourselves and regain contentment. True contentment comes from the Lord.
First, determine how thankful we are for what we have. Are we happy and joyful that we have a close family, or do we mainly fill our time with regrets or worries? I know it is much easier said than done.
Why Are We Not Content
Our priorities are very evident by how much time we apply to each and every part of our lives. Do we spend much of our time taking care of our own desires or wants, need etc.? Or are we mainly caregivers? Usually spending a good deal of time for others? The main reason most of us have gotten off track is where we spend our time. This is not always a quick fix. It takes some effort to correct our schedule. It will take a degree of effort to reevaluate our goals or priorities in life. G Second, we need to learn to9 rest in god’s providence. If we truly know God, are aware that He is unfolding his agenda and will or purpose in our lives. Third, we need to learn to be satisfied with little. Easier said than done I know. Fourth learn to live above life’s circumstances.
