Growing up in Hangzhou, a city with many exciting open spaces, I have developed a keen sensitivity to space which drove me to think about what made the space so appealing. As I grew older, I met difficulties in finding the essence of those beautiful spaces and thus decided to delve into the world of landscape architecture to find out my answers from a professional perspective. In addition to a solid theoretical foundation in landscape architecture laid during undergraduate years, I have enhanced my understanding of this discipline through practice. as evidenced by my participation in the 12th Student Landscape Design Award of Taiwan Institute of Landscape Architects. Eventually, I won the third place in the final review. From such a competition of concepts, I have learnt to develop a seemingly simple concept into a complete design that could solve actual problems. Currently, I am conducting my graduation design on a 50-hectare site, a one-year project (with eight credits) titled “The Reconstruction of Agricultural Expo Thinking—The Planning and Design of Yunlin County Agricultural Expo Ecological Park in Taiwan”. With my efforts, I received 89/100 and ranked the first place in the second-phase review. More importantly, my interest in farmland design was triggered. Apart from on-campus study, I seized opportunities to gain design experience in different real-life contexts such as internship at Da vision design. To my knowledge, as a country famous for modern agriculture and distinctive agricultural scenery, the Netherlands has included landscape design in land consolidation and planning in its Land Consolidation Act, which suits my interest in farmland design developed in my graduation design. As for why I see Delft University of Technology as my dream school, your Master’s programme with the Landscape Architecture track, providing courses like Engineering and Technology in Urban Landscape Design, can satisfy my curiosity about the urban boundary issues concerning farmlands and the integration of technologies and design. I look forward to the multidisciplinary studies through inspiring courses and supportive professors in your academic community. If admitted, I would like to combine my exploration of the relation between human beings and agriculture in my graduation design with the research experience of European countries to examine the boundaries between nature and agriculture in China’s urban development.

Yunlin is the most important argricutural city for Taiwan. However, now in Yunlin area, because of the seasonal rainfalling the water once farmers relyied on must be replaced by groundwater. In this circumstance, the condition of land subsidenceis getting worse. The agricultural water wastes discharge directly into the ocean. The use of water has reached a huge imbalance .So we are using landscape design to gather, purify and supply the short of water in order to push the water ciculation and bring hope to the ground.

Yunlin's great natural conditions make it the capital of agriculture of Taiwan, grand fields are all over its ground, but there are a lot of wasted water which should be used.

Basic Discussion The base is located at Yunlin area. Because of the groundwater overdrafting, which may threaten the safety of the HSR, the golden way plan comes up.The upstream area has plenty of farmlands to produce agricultural wastes. The drainage channels and old waterways around the site make it possible to gather the water which are probably flow straight into ocean.Using the natural elevation to flow the water.This site is surrounded by a abandoned drainage channel. Use that channel to let the stream in and out.

But the commercial shape of Taipei kept its upgrading pace. The manager of city always looks upon on architectures, so a lot of open spaces of the city are very old syle and not functional.Especially in those central areas. During the revolution of city, I think we should follow the pattern of history and play a beautiful song for our loving cities in public spaces.

This perticular district of Taipei is famous for its commercial enviroment. A lot of citizens take the district as their No.1 choice for shopping. So Dinghao plaza is surrounded by luxury restuarants and stores. Obviously its outlook and function design can not fit the enviroment.

With the upgrading of Dinghao plaza, the inner spaces are able to connect with outdoor public spaces. People can walk fluently in such arranged pedestrian. After history gives a certain pattern of a site, the site will have a stronh connect to city, so Dinghao stands up and becomes the rythem of Taipei.

Academic Location: Dongao,Yilan, Taiwan Supervisor: Ted Hsieh Email: Wn1172@hotmail.com Level Of The Project: Junior Carrying Out Date: 11/6/2017 Snake Mountain, an extra part from central mountains, is rich in ecological potential at Dongyue Village. However, this small place actually has passages artificially developed at 3 different periods, owing to man-made destroy. The plant and animal habitats are disturbed from noise, ground vibration produced by traveling trains and air pollution over many years. As the railway is cancelled and Suhua Highway is improved and put into use, we should re-define Snake Mountain following the development of the times and ecological conservation concept.

Fundamental status of the abandoned tunnel

Basic Discussion The site is located at Dongao, Yi Lan. The Snake Mountain is hurted by human three times in different period of history. The first tunnel is abandoned, and my site goes through it. The tunnel connect two parts of my site which are heavily damaged by recent construction. Because of the shape of the mountain, there is one water discharge slope in my site. And Dongao is a place where rains very frequently in the whole year. Spring Park is a famous sightseeing near Dongyue village. Due to the visitors who drive cars to the park, Life in community will be influenced in some ways.
Strategies

Limit the amount of visitors by ruling the width of the path. Reduce the impact that people bring to nature.

After the recovery, snake mountain's ecology is going to change a lot and the green system will actually connect. Man and animal will be able to find where they belong. The north and south side of abandoned tunnel will no longer be isolated. Making snake mountain a real meaningful hand of the central mountain. The story of changing view of people and nature is a class for us human beings. Remind us of changing the way we treat mother nature.

The community will also gain some benefits from this project. Not only the ecology , but also the community's space. Releading the way of vehicles are returning a quiet community to all the residents.
