01 Pavilion Design space of circulation Fall 2021 Studio Final Project Syracuse University School of Architecture
Based on the analysis I extracted from Lina Bo Bardi’s Glass House, I designed a pavilion that visualized the circulation. The black beams I designed function as the visualization elements of the place. As those lines guide people into the space, they also connect different functional areas that form the whole site.

Section A
Using the same language as the black beam, I designed a pergola-shape structure, They connect the more public area (theatre) with the more personal area( the bath room and the meditation room). As for the outside pergola, it connects the outside of the site to the inside, and improves people’s spatial experience as they walk under it.

03 Stereotomic & Tectonic space study
Using blue foam as the material, a stereotomic model was made by carving out spaces from a blue-foam cube. A tectonic model was made by building up elements such as beams, columns and panals to form spaces with the usage of wooden sticks and foam board.

02 Materiality material study Fall 2021 Studio Project Syracuse University School of Architecture
Learning from Wangshu’s material usage on the Ningbo History Museum, I studied the materality of blue foam and wooden sticks. By transforming and erosing the material, spaces are formed and interesting facades are shown to the audience.
