Edifying home (II) Apostle Segio G. Enríquez O. Guatemala, May 23rd Year of Abundance

All of us, single or married, have to build up a setting where we will live. In this regard, we observe several cultures like the North American, European, pushing young people who have reached their legal majority to undertake their own homes facilitating the conditions for them to live on their own, teaching them this is the way for them to begin to build their own environment. Some of us, as adults, could create this environment, but children are still unable to, before that, they need to transcend their growth in order to do it; moreover, they belong to the environment their parents are building up. Based on all of the above, we can fathom that we need to create a good environment to provide our children with a solid foundation for them to create their own in due time. Building up requires necessary elements as the Bible shows us, for example, when it tells us the Lord instructed Moses to build the tabernacle, and He provided him with precise instructions, according to a model He showed him; in the same way, we also need to build up a house according to the model taught by the Lord, and not according to what we saw in our parents’ home, because though everything that happened there might look as normal to us, as we look at other models we understand it is not according to the model we desire to follow; it is better to receive God’s instruction regarding how to properly build our home. Another point we need to highlight would be that we did not received a built home, but the Lord has provided the tools for us to build it up; therefore, we ought to create our own family environment, however, fire must come over each home as a process of perfection; in that regard, we could mention that we did not receive a wife, but a woman, thus the Bible says a woman is the glory of the man, since it is the man’s privilege to form her, in other words, to edify her; then what we need to do is to apply the knowledge we have in our homes at the light of the Bible, only in this way we shall be able to test if we are properly building up. In the book of Proverbs chapter 31, we see how the mother of the King Lemuel instructed him directly not to give his strength to women, to those who destroy kings; but, he did not obey, and doing this he displeased God’s heart, as he ended up having 1000 women. Since God has bestowed men with the privilege to edify their houses, it is a must for us to consider many things, among which is the fact that when we speak about building, the majority of Christians delegate the complete responsibility of our homes on the women’s shoulders, based on what the passage of Proverbs 14:1 says, “…the wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down…”; however, we need to read the Bible, since building is a shared task, if we considered what the passage of Matthew 7:24 says as it states this responsibility is also delegated to men, which confirms this is a team work, where both of them build up, have rights and obligations, but when it is based on love, this situation becomes transparent.
