Gethsemane is a place where the olive is pressed and pours its oil, this represents a place where there is a cup of suffering assigned to us. Although we are living a time of abundance, it is necessary to go through suffering in order to obtain what God has for us. Matthew 26:39 NTV He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” Every time we face a battle, the Lord goes before us, i.e., He is ahead of our situation, therefore we are never alone. This passage indicates that the Lord was experiencing a cup of suffering. Every time we go through trials, our flesh refuses to pass the test and usually we find ourselves without strength, nevertheless, we know that all our trials work together to fulfill God´s will in our lives. A trial is like a bridge that takes us from point “A” to point “B”, namely, to a new dimension. When we finished the process of our spiritual test, we are not the same, we come out of it with renewed strength, therefore we can comfort those who are experiencing similar trials. The Lord uses our trials to make us stronger in our faith, we must know that these only last for a limited time, trials are not forever. The Lord prayed in Gethsemane during one hour, and while He prayed, His disciples fall asleep; we must remember that He who sees over us never sleeps, that is our Father; the Word says: He who keeps you will not slumber. A straight line is a sequence of points and there is a space between them; the Lord drew a line from Gethsemane to the next verse: Revelation 3:10 LBLA Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. The Lord has done enough provision so that we may pass through the bridge of trial. Now is the time to ask for help to the Lord in the midst of the trial, we can be confident that He listens to us and helps us, but a time will come in which those who call for help will not be heard. The Lord begged His Father to remove the cup of suffering assigned to Him, but He also knew about the coming glory, therefore He finally said: Your will be done. Matthew 26:42 RV 1960 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from me unless I drink it, Your will be done.” When we face difficulties, we want God´s answer to come quickly, but sometimes the answer is slow in coming, but we must know that God´s will and time for things to come are perfect. Matthew 26:42 TLA Jesus went to pray a second time, in His prayer He said: Father, if I have to go through this suffering, I am willing to obey You. Sometimes, when we see the suffering coming, we are not willing to obey, and possibly we reproach, but God always shows the way to come out of every trial.

Matthew 26:44 RV 1960 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. In the Scripture we see a clear example of a hard trial, the life of Joseph when he is put in a cistern, the first thing he wants to do is to come out of it, but his brothers sold him to the Midianites. This was only the beginning of his trial because we read in the Bible how Joseph was sold in Egypt as a slave, after that he was unjustly imprisoned, but all these events were in God´s plans. II Corinthians 12:7-9 LBLA And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. [8] Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. [9] And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. We should be thankful for the spiritual house in which we receive abundant revelation of God´s word, but we must be careful not to boast about it, because we could receive a thorn. Therefore if the Lord asks us to be humble, we must meet that requirement in order to be blessed and avoid adverse conditions to come to our lives. When we compare the trials with a bridge, we can understand that they are temporary, God uses them to take us to new places, in fact, our whole life is like a bridge that will take us to eternity, to our destiny with God having Christ in our hearts. Therefore now is the time to define ourselves and choose to follow the Lord with all our hearts. Goliath was a bridge man for David, a victory over him took David to the throne; David´s brothers were afraid to pass that bridge and they never achieved anything. We have to set our spiritual eyes on what is at the end of the bridge of our lives, i.e., the gift that God has prepared for us if we are victorious over the trials. When David went to his brothers, he brought bread to them, the word used for bread is lajam (H3898) which means feed with, figuratively to consume, to battle (like destruction), attack, fight, contend, besiege, to war, eat. God has a bread for us today, to make us strong in the battle, that we might conquer with Him. God sends His bread through His beloved ones (David means beloved), so they may fight against Goliath and defeat him. This victory also helped to destroy the Philistines, this means that our victories will help our brothers to be conquerors with us. Psalms 39:10 LBLA Remove Your plague from me; I am consumed by the blow of Your hand. Psalms 39:10 BNC Divert Your scourge from me; the rigor of your hand consumes me. It may be that we feel the trial is killing us, but God is always with us, if we call upon His name He will never leave us. We can´t ignore the trials, we should not fear them because they serve to purify ourselves. We can apply this verse to the Lord when He asked His Father to pass away the suffering cup from Him, but finally He accepted the humiliation because He loved us.

Luke 22:42-43 LBLA saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” [43] Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. Amid struggles, trials, needs and battles, God will send His messengers to strengthen us with his words. The Lord will always speak to us when we are crossing our bridges. I Peter 4:12-13 BAD Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; [13] but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ´s sufferings that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. It is a great joy to be partakers with Christ´s sufferings. John 19:30 RV1960 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:30 FTA After Jesus had tasted the sour wine, He said; All is fulfilled. Our Lord Jesus Christ gave His life voluntarily; if we keep the faith we could say the same words that Jesus said: it is all fulfilled. II Timothy 4:7-8 LBLA I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. [8] Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. I Corinthians 11:26 RV1960 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord´s death till He comes. Every time that we go through sufferings, they help us to die to ourselves, this also happens when we partake in the Supper of Lord, as a result we can say: it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. Today God brings us to His table to found grace and strength, that we may pass through every trial in victory.
