Hyperboles of Jesus? (III) Third Service Apostle Sergio G. Enríquez O. Guatemala, April 25, Year of Abundance

Through these studies, we have been explaining the difference between a parable and the hyperbole. We notice in the Bible that the Lord Jesus spoke by means of parables, which in many occasions could be interpreted as impossible or exaggerations due to its content, however, Jesus never had the need to speak with exaggerations. The following verse is a good example of a parable that can be taken as a hyperbole, but obviously, it is not. (Mark 11:23 NASB) Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be taken up and cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. We know that a person, literally, could stand in front of a mount and tell it to move; however, this could come to be a resounding miracle that won’t be believed by everybody; however, when we read this verse in a spiritual way, we notice that the Scriptures mentions mountains which appear to be obstacles in our life and that is our duty to stand before them and tell them to remove themselves and go into the sea. This is what this topic is all about. Beforehand we have already mentioned some mounts that we need to uproot from our life so they will not interfere in our relation with God. Among those mounts tht we have already seen are the following: . The mount of defeat (2 Sam: 15:30) . The mount of Ancestral curse (2 Sam: 21:9) . The mount of the handing of our children (1 Kings 11:7) The Mount of Unbelief 2 King 2:16 NASB. They said to him, “Behold now, there are with your servants fifty strong men, please let them go and search for your master; perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has taken him up and cast him on some mountain or into some valley.” And he said, “You shall not send.” To understand this Biblical verse and because, it is related to incredulity let’s take a look to its own context. The Scriptures narrate that the Prophet Elisha knowing that his time was short, next to Elijah the Prophet, just before he was going to be taken from earth, decided to go with him to the Jordan river, and when crossing the river, Elisha the Prophet was a witness of how that man was rapture from the earth in the midst of a whirlwind. Afterwards, Elisha the Prophet went back and found his servants and with the fifty strong men who did not believe that Elijah the Prophet was rapture. According to what was exposed above, we understand that in occasions, our incredulity will not allow us to see the hand of God working, and even worst, we can fall in to the error to think that God is not powerful enough to do what He has promise; an example we see through the Bible, specifically when Jesus was resurrected and presented Himself to His disciples, it was difficult for them to believe that the Lord was before them, even when Jesus had told them that He was going to resurrect. This take us to understand, that in occasions we can be very analytic; however the desire of our Lord Jesus Christ that we have the faith of a child, who will not question what is being told, but that believes in what his parents say without a doubt. The same way we have to believe and have faith in our Celestial Father without questioning, and always giving God our trust and faith.

Hyperboles of Jesus? (III) Third Service Apostle Sergio G. Enríquez O. Guatemala, April 25, Year of Abundance

The Mount of Greed 2 Kings 5:24 NASB When he came to the hill, he took them from their hand and deposited them in the house, and he sent the men away, and they departed. When reading the context of this verse, we understand that Naaman, captain of the king´s army of Aram, who had leper; reason from which one of his servants advise him to present himself before Elisha the Prophet, however, he was not received, but by Gehazi the servant to give him instructions to submerge himself into the Jordan river seven times. Naaman, furious because the Prophet did not receive him personally, went back, but his servants spoke to them telling to obey the instructions; and when he did, he was healed from leper. And because of this, he goes back to the Prophet offering presents, but the man of God did not receive them. After all this, Gehazi goes after Naaman deceiving him into giving him a talent and two changes of garments that ended up being hidden in his house, in the mountainous region of Efrain. Base on this, we can conclude that the mount of greed forms part of the mounts that we should uproot to be able to advance as believers and achieve the true spiritual treasures and not allow that what Gehazi had, could be rooted in our heart. All in all, we cannot be unbelievers and greedy Christians, but we have to be faithful to the promises of our Good God, trusting hat He will always sustain us in all our needs. Today, let’s ask the Father to help us to uproot all these mounts so they will not be in our path anymore. Believing that God in a supernatural way, and by means of our faith, will make these mounts to be moved and into the sea, that we can go ahead in our journey with Jesus Christ.
