- PERSONAL HOUSE
This is a personal house interior design project, located at 13 Wood Street, San Francisco, CA 94118, and my client is my instructor, Ernest Mariotto with his family members. The garden unit belongs to Ernest’s niece, lower unit belongs to Ernest, and upper unit belongs to Ernest’s sister with her husband. I chose the minimalist style as the basic idea of their house design, then I made three design directions for each of them, committed to meet all of their needs and also tried to bring aesthetic feeling to their home.

PERSONAL HOUSE
- GARDEN UNIT
The space of the garden unit is relatively small, so I made a floor plan which is suitable for a single young girl with a commodious working area and living room. The living room is a big focal point, the white leather sofa and gray carpet create the sense of peace, the decorative sliver chandelier looks a little bit lively, and the large and functional TVentertainment separates the Living room and working area. The white and soft color furnitures and finishings create a modern and simple sense. Some subtle decoration expresses a unique home, like the wall arts in the working area, and the beautiful hollowed-out partition wall near the bedroom.

The living room features by a long dark gray sofa, and there is a golden deer aside. The two exquisite chandeliers brighten and decorate the living room and dinning room. He also has a big collection room connected with his office where provides nice storage for his collections and also has super comfortable lounge seating area. The working area is semi-opened, and the partition wall shows the beauty of lines with light wood and dark glass. The decorative bedroom meets the client’s need with the spaciousness and sense of privacy. The partition wall with beautiful painting separate different area in the bedroom.

“Golden Gate Bridge”, is the theme and inspiration of their home design. The bridge is historic and permanent, like the emotion between the couple. I try to show the coexistence of historical elements and modern elements in this design. The front wall of the living room, decorated with the red lines was inspired by the base structure of the Golden Gate Bridge, which is a big focus on the whole space, this design element also was used in the bedroom. The chandeliers also reflects the structure of the Golden Gate Bridge. I use white, light gray, black and red to be the main colors and used the concrete texture wall paint and concrete tiles flooring to create the simple feeling. The dining room has a small “Golden Gate Bridge”. The reflective flooring shows a modern feeling. The bedroom’s concept showing is focusing on details, like the pillows with line patterns, and the red tiled wall.

RETAIL
- LUPICIA TEA STORE
It is a redesign project. I redesigned one of the Lupicia Tea Store that is located at 835 Market St, Westfield Centre. 3rd Floor. San Francisco, CA 94103. The Lupicia Tea Store offers more than 250 kinds of fresh teas from different place of the world. As a brand, it gives people a chance to taste the tea from other countries, and the company hope to spread the wonderful flavors of tea and its culture throughout the world. I like the passion of this tea store and that is the reason why I chose to redesign it. My new concept is I want the redesigned store show more connection between tea and nature throughout the interior space, let the customers understand the composition of their teas, teas are composed by natural elements like flowers, fruits, leaves... etc. The store use the pattens and the shapes of the these natural elements. It will provide fresh tea making area to let the customers taste the fresh tea with comfortable seating area. I also use many sustainable materials to redesign the space, bring more connections with nature.

- ARCADIA HOTEL & RESORT
This project’s goal is to create and design a hotel with branding. I designed a hotel names “Arcadia Hotel & Resort”, which will be located at Santa Barbara, CA. It will be an advanced boutique hotel which provides the enjoyable and natural environment for the customers, let them feel like being in Arcadia, especially for the workaholic who wants to forget their troubles and enjoy a quiet moment. The spaciousness, peace and comfort are the hotel trying to make through the design. The hotel will bring the natural elements into design, such as sky, water, trees, flowers, stone, and wood, inspired by a painting that imagine the Arcadia scene. Each public space will focus on one natural element.

The earthy color & tone and the decorative details like the stone brick wall, the ornate wallpaper, the splash water chanderlier, floral pattern pillows, big potted plants, all show the sense of “Arcadia” which is original, natural and peaceful. The bathroom is very approachable, inspired by “Water”. It has a big shower room, a very exquisite acrylic freestanding tub, the shelves with comfortable towels, a specious sink counter with big mirrors, as well as the blue tiled wall and flooring.

BEDSIDE TABLE SET
- INSPIRATIONS
I did some researches before I started to create my bedside tables. I found some interesting and minimalist style furniture that uses the golden section as the design tool to create the perfect and unique compositions of their structure. They look very simple and harmonious. The visual samples I got from researches showed me some basic ideas that how the golden section works in furniture d e s i g n .

BEDSIDE TABLE SET
- DESIGN IDEAS & MATERIALS
The bedside table set contains four bedside tables, and each bedside table has a different composition with others, so it means each of them also works differently because of their different structures, and the overall structure of the tables is based on the golden section rectangle. You can see the geometric analysis in the construction line drawing. I also add drawers to some tables to make them more functional. I committed to doing sustainable design, so I chose bamboo for this bedside table, which is a very sustainable material, and some parts are painted with dark gray colors because I want them to have some color contrasts. I think my design provides more choice to the customers because each bedside table has different function, so it means people can decide which kind of bedside table they prefer to use for their bedroom.
