No Makeup Makeup Look PHOTOGRAPHY BY MINT TO INSPIRE MODEL HANNAH CUMMINS Shayla is the lead makeup artist and owner of Rose Quartz Makeup. We have collaborated with her to show you how to do this simple makeup look. This is perfect for those wanting a clean look that is perfect for a meeting or networking event. STEP 1 Apply your moisturizer and a primer to prep your face. Using a brush, apply your favourite foundation and use bouncing motions with a beauty blender to blend it in. This will give you the most natural feel with the coverage you want.
Tip Place a little bit of the foundation on your jawline and compare it with your neck to find the perfect foundation shade.

STEP 2 Using a small brush, beauty blender or your fingers, apply some concealer to hide any dark circles and brighten your under eye area.
Tip Bake your undereye with translucent powder to help your concealer last longer. Let the translucent powder set for a few minutes and then use a brush to sweep off the excess.
STEP 3 Using an angle brush, apply your favourite bronzer to the hollows of your cheek. Blend it out for a more natural look and no harsh lines.
Tip To know where exactly to place your bronzermake a fish face and apply in the shallow crevices.
STEP 4 Using a big fluffy brush, apply a natural pink blush on the apple of your cheeks to add more colour to your face.
Tip If you are looking for a natural glow, apply some highlighter to highlight your cheekbones. Don’t forget to apply on your forehead, nose, cupids bow and chin.
STEP 5 Using an eyeshadow or brow product that is a few shades darker than your hair colour - fill in your brows.

STEP 6 Using a light shimmery shadow, apply it all over lid as a base. With a darker shadow, apply it on the outer v of your eye and blend it out for a more 3 dimensional look.
Natural Eye Palette Find a go-to palette with shimmer and matte shades so you’ll have options of shades to use and work with.
STEP 7 Curl your eyelashes and apply your favourite mascara to give your eyes a pop!
STEP 8 Use a makeup finishing spray to set all your makeup to ensure that it will stay on all day.
STEP 9 Apply a nude lip product to finish the look. The no makeup makeup look is now complete!
Tip Use a lipliner to help line your lips for easier application.

Face Your Fears
WRITTEN BY JOTI FROM JOTI’S LABEL
I started the Fearless Campaign as a way to support and empower the female community. Everyone has a personal story about how they face their fears on a daily basis or how they step outside their comfort zone in this constant world we live in. Personally it all hit me after graduating University. Everything is so planned out until you get that Degree and the question comes of, now what? Everything I do and have done to this day has been stepping outside my box and I could not have done that without the support of my friends, family, and all the fellow boss ladies I have met throughout the way. I am a big believer in collaboration, and the fact that there is room in this world for everyone! I have had a huge passion to give back to the women in this world but never could figure out exactly HOW? Once I started my custom printing business, it all kind of came along step by step. I started to create clothing with the text “FEARLESS” and “GRL PWR” written across the chest and have expanded in to wall prints. I love that I can wear my clothing proud and feel inspired everytime I look up at my wall. FEARLESS is all about facing your fears & GRL PWR is about supporting one another and working together to make a bigger difference and change. I faced my fears by going from a full time student to a full time entrepreneur and am on a wild scary journey! I started off donating the proceeds to an organization every 2 months that supported women. Now I am taking it to another level, and will be using a portion of the proceeds to develop basic business and marketing plans to help the women in small business. It will be a process but I am very excited!

Meet FROM VANCOUVER VOGUE “To me, girl power is all about building up each other’s self esteem, encouraging individual and collective growth and success in anything that we do! From teaching young girls to have confidence, to supporting working women breaking through the glass ceiling, it’s important that we bring each other up rather than tear each other down. Together, we can break down any barriers set in front of us.”

PHOTOGRAPHY BLUSH SKY PHOTOGRAPHY WRITTEN BY HOLLY HO
Danielle Wiebe grew up in Surrey, Langley and Vancouver but recently settled in to Fort Langley with her husband. She started Vancity Business Babes in 2015 and now has over 25,000 followers through Facebook and Instagram. I approached Danielle a few months after she started Vancity Business Babes and told her about Mint To Inspire. We connected instantly because we both had the same passion with helping female entrepreneurs. Danielle believes that there is no competition but collaboration. We met up with Danielle at Olive and Ruby Cafe with Jen from Blush Sky Photography for our cover shoot. You started Vancity Business Babes in 2015, what got you into event planning and working with women in business? I started my own home-based business part-time very soon after I graduated from University. I began falling in love with personal development and networking in the city. I soon found out I had a huge passion for small businesses and hearing from female entrepreneurs. I was always so inspired by what they had accomplished. I had some experience event planning during university and also helping my sister in her wedding planning business, and realized I always loved being a part of events and seeing them unfold.

What is a day in your shoes like? If I am not out doing meetings I am usually on my couch with a cup of coffee and comfy clothes. Usually no makeup on ;) I spend a lot of time connecting with business owners, replying to emails, and of course LOTS (probably too much) of social media time. What were some challenges when you first started VCBB? When I first started hosting events nobody knew who I was or what I was trying to do. I had no credibility, few strong business connections so It took time to build those relationships and make those connections. Promoting my events took ALOT of work. I mostly used social media to do my promotions and when I didn’t have much of a following it was tough. Why is collaborating so important for businesses? My business has grown to the place that it has because of the relationships and collaborations I have done. I totally believe in collaboration over competition. I believe in creating mutually beneficial opportunities between business owners. I think that we can all use our strengths and talents to help one another so that we all succeed together. This is not just positive thinking, I’ve seen this play out time and time again in my business, when women come together and support each other, incredible things happen.

What do you look for when you create a new event? First priority is creating a topic, second is securing a venue and third is finding our panelists, sponsors, and vendors. I am very picky when It comes to who speaks and get chosen to be vendors and sponsors for my events. I don't just say yes to everyone. They have to share the same values of Vancity Business Babes and I need to know what their business is all about. What is your top 3 tips for women looking to start their own business? 1. Make sure you are really passionate about what you are about to start. I heard at a conference recently that you should think to yourself "Am I willing to devote 10 years of my life to this" If the answer is NO, then think twice about the type of business, maybe you can find something you are more passionate about. 2. Begin your journey of Personal Development as soon as you can, begin reading books, listening to podcasts, audios, watching youtube clips for inspiration. Fill your mind with inspiration and the possibilities that this business will bring you 3. Start building strong relationships, surrounding yourself with a network of supportive people is one of the most important things you can do as a new business owner. Find your tribe, attend events, ask people for coffee, and see how you can add value to their lives.

What do you do when you lose motivation? I usually listen to an inspiring podcast or I take some time to pray/meditate. Also I give myself time and breaks to just do fun things like hang out with family, friends or just spend time reading. I think business owners can easily burn themselves out by never allowing themselves time to rest. What are 3 things you can’t live without? Okay well I could name quite a few people here but I am assuming this is physical things ;) 1. Podcasts (Is that a thing?) 2. My Notebook/Journal 3. My phone (I do about 80%-90% of my work from my iPhone) How are you looking to expand VCBB in the future? I do have a few ideas in the works at the moment that are really exciting but I can't share them...YET. I also am starting more of an online community and expanding it beyond just vancouver. I want to allow business babes from all over the world a place to connect, collaborate and be inspired. How do you keep yourself inspired? I think I have already mentioned this a million times but podcasts are huge for me! Also just going to coffee or dinner with another business babe is SO amazing. I have found some pretty incredible business women that I truly believe have my back and can help me stay inspired!
