Founded by two mothers with vast design and retail backgrounds, Leah Nelson and Dully Lee were driven by the desire to create children’s accessories that would rise up to the aesthetics and expectations of a parent in the fashion know. Operating on a vertical integration, Milk & Soda not only creates for its in-house brand, but also designs and product develops for global multi-national retailers as well independent private labels. Living about her family and Christmas in her home! WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT CHRISTMAS TIME? ‘I friken loooove Christmas, it is hands down my most favourite time of the year. I love everything about it. the weather, the parties and social aspect - seeing people you don’t see for the rest of the year, giving gifts, the food (especially the food), the holidays, the carols, just the magic of it all. I feel like once December hits everyone is happier and more relaxed knowing holidays are coming and there will be extra time to spend with friends and family.’ WHAT ABOUT CHRISTMAS DAY ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS YEAR? ‘This year our little girl is two and a half and understands what is going on, she walks past our tree everyday and tells me how beautiful it is. I can’t wait to see her face Christmas morning when she gets up and finds all the presents under the tree. I’m also looking forward to the family enjoying her and her excitement in the

lead up and on Christmas Day. It’s so true that you don’t realise how good Christmas is until you’re a parent.’ DO YOU HAVE ANY TRADITIONS OR SPECIAL THINGS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY DO AROUND CHRISTMAS OR NEW YEARS? ‘Our traditions start on the 1st December, this year Macey woke up to a Schleich advent calendar - so she gets a new animal everyday instead of chocolate, a gingerbread making kit, and a few Xmas craft packs that she can do with us throughout December.
We do a Christmas Eve box that includes a Christmas DVD, matching PJ’s for the 3 of us, popcorn, treats and an ornament for Macey to add to her collection - so when she grows up she has a full set of decorations of her own. This year I bought a beautiful velvet Santa sack from Onyx & Smoke, each year this will have the presents from Santa, the rest will be from Mum & Dad.’

Next year Elf on the shelf will join the 1st December tradition! Christmas Eve we always go for a beautiful Christmas lunch with my Nan, then head home for a night in, just the 3 of us.

WHAT DOES YOUR CHRISTMAS DAY LOOK LIKE? ‘Christmas Day for us is about all of the family being together, eating food & playing games. We all have such busy lives now & one of my sisters lives away so it’s one of the only times we are all together with nowhere to be except for together. We all usually stay at mum & dad’s on Christmas Eve, watch the carol’s on TV and then we wake up to do the presents altogether & spend the day eating/ P27
swimming/playing games. There is so much fun & laughter when we’re altogether & I think it’s such a special time that we really treasure.’ WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS CHRISTMAS? ‘We are looking forward to everyone being together, this year is extra special for us as one of my sisters is expecting her first baby in January!

We have always been huge lovers of Christmas but feel like as we grow up, the Christmas magic wears off a little so having kids has bought back that magic & we enjoy Christmas SO much with them!’
