Letter of the Editor: This blog-magazine is a sweet marriage of art and history. Being an advocate of both encourages me to venture in its unexpected waters - no matter how treacherous or life changing as it is. The maiden voyage of this issue, apart from its long conception, is a test if we could keep up something as heavy as an art/feature magazine for the long run. We are merely amateurs in this field yet we strive to all collaborate in the creation of this brainchild for the love for this town. The first issue of 4017 signals both the alpha and the omega -the beginning of what we hope to be a torch bearer for Pakilenos’ interest to be proud of where they came from and the end of ignorance, as we purposely make this site/magazine as an archive of all things Pakil-related, a dossier of our humble history. It is in this light that 4017 is conceived as to remind the current generation of Pakilenos never to forget our past in this digital era. The medium we have chosen is more or less a bi-monthly online magazine complete with integration to social networking sites for easy access. Nowadays, Pakilenos have been migrating to cyberspace non stop and has constantly making enough social sites to have that sense of belongingness - that little nook for proud Pakilenos. Moreover, overseas Pakilenos anchor themselves to these particular sites to remember Pakil by with news and what’s happening around our sleepy little town. Both became reasons that, I think, is the time that Pakilenos needs to have a new home in cyberspace. And thus, 4017 is born. Speaking of the latest news, there has been a lot of happenings in Pakil lately, especially with the recent end of summer events that happened in busy May. Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan were celebrated in style and with a new twist. Also, the catapulting of our church to an ‘icon’ status as the hometown of ABSCBN’sJuan dela Cruz and GMA’s Indio resulting to being a prime historical location spot for television’s road managers. >> V.I.P.s of Pakil will also be featured here and for the first ever issue of 4017, we give you one of Pakil’s pillars. He has had a long-standing love affair with the town of Pakil and the town showed him some love back. Posing as a tribute and a thank you letter for one of the brilliant man you’ll ever meet, the things that you should know or didn’t knew about Pakil’s very own Historian - Lolo Inigo Vito. And finally, I would like to ask help from you, Dear Readers, if you have any Pakil memorabilia that’s old and seems to be collecting old dangerous dust, kindly message me. I would love to feature it and it will be quite the addition to our old gallery. I ask this of you for the sake of art, history and as a fellow Pakileno. We should preserve our history and it is through collective history that we could complete this ever evolving puzzle.
