Williamsburg Center This project is a celebration of the timeless beauty of Williamsburg’s architecture. It’s driven by a deep appreciation for the symmetrical beauty and distinctive elements that grace these historic structures, including lanterns, gabled roofs, and arches. Strategically positioned on the site, the design aligns with two axes, extending it by 25 feet to create symmetry on both sides of the garden. The project’s core emphasis lies in the symmetry of columns, windows, and the overall shape. I developed a systematic approach to RFNSYFNS YMNX X^RRJYW^ WJ‫ܫ‬JHYJI NS YMJ NSYJWNTWѣX QNSJFW HNWHZQFYNTS QJFINSL YT F HJSYWFQ WJHJUYNTS MFQQ

Inspired by the lanterns adorning Williamsburg’s buildings, I incorporated one to infuse natural light into the space. The gabled roof of the Williamsburg Courthouse and the elegant arches of the Williamsburg Capitol were further highlighted to capture their essence. Site placement was carefully planned to harmonize with neighboring structures, ensuring the facade aligns seamlessly with the surrounding buildings to the north and south. Inside, a sequence and linear circulation guides visitors, leading them to the reception hall, which then branches into various functional spaces.

The Return of the Shotgun House Designing this house in New Orleans, Louisiana, I drew inspiration from the vibrant Shotgun House style prevalent in the area. I aimed for an Eastlake design to seamlessly blend the aesthetics of the colorful XMTYLZS MTZXJX YMFY IJ‫ܪ‬SJ YMJ WJLNTS 9MJ ‫ܫ‬TTW UQFS RJYNHZQTZXQ^ HWFKYJI YT RJJY &)& WJVZNWJRJSYX features three entrances. The elevation of this Eastlake shotgun house posed a challenge as I transitioned from a two-bay to a threebay design. Opting for symmetry, I strategically placed a unique window and a high window to maintain GFQFSHJ F[TNINSL F HJSYWFQ HTQZRS YMFY \TZQI IWF\ FYYJSYNTS YT YMJ HJSYJW TK YMJ MTZXJ 9MJ ‫ܫ‬TTW UQFS follows an A, B, A, B sequence both longitudinally and laterally, with a distinctive axis for shotgun doors that breaks off in the dining room, featuring large, centered doors that align with the window in the middle.

The building is designed to harmonize with the existing trees, creating tree gardens where multiple tree species have been planted to attract a variety of bird species throughout the year. With one side of the building facing the lake and the mountains, and the other side overlooking the forest, park visitors can enjoy views of both water birds and land-based bird species while enjoying the lake’s refreshing waters. The center of the building’s garden features one of the largest and oldest trees on the site, serving as a training area for tree planting.

Riverside Way Station The Roaring Fork River is surrounded by the Rocky Mountains and plenty of greenery with gentle slopes. The intention is to create a design that blends with the environment and focuses on views from a different perspective. The material selection underscores the interplay between the exterior environment and the interior spaces. At the convergence points of the pavilions, I’ve chosen natural stone for the walls, establishing a solid connection with the landscape. FALLACY LIBRARY

The design intent of the Illusionist Art Library is to mirror the artistic gestures surrounding Hirshorn Park and the repurposed buildings in Highlands, fostering creativity. Anamorphic transformation is the design strategy employed; from a distance, the building appears as a simple bar with vertical elements. However, as one approaches it, the true nature of the structure becomes apparent, revealing three distinct segments with sloped roofs and irregularly spaced vertical elements. The material chosen for the vertical structures is non-shrinking, such as steel, to maintain the grid pattern.

COLFAX VOCATIONAL SCHOOL

Colfax is the longest street in America, known for its diversity and the abundance of eateries, bars, shops, and hotels that line its path. The design concept behind this project is to incorporate the idea of a spine, mirroring Colfax’s role as the central axis of the surrounding neighborhoods. The building seamlessly integrates into the site without disturbing residential structures; in fact, some of the new elements meld with existing buildings, UWJXJW[NSL YMJNW HMFWFHYJW 9MJ XJHTSI ‫ܫ‬TTW TK YMJ GZNQINSL J]YJSIX QNPJ F QTSL XUNSJ THHZU^NSL YMJ FQQJ^ FSI connecting the neighboring structures. Along Colfax Avenue, the building features more public amenities, such as a pool with open bleachers for passersby, while the private areas are set away from the bustling Colfax street.
